I though brainstorming it here would give me some good ideas, and be a good resource for those that are interested in gathering miniatures for this. Ideally I'd like prepainted miniatures. Non-painted are fine if the choice is better than what we have. I want to avoid proxies (i.e. using a centaur for a dracotaur because they are the same size), the closer the better. Frederyck 05-14-07, 07:56 AM	I'm going to use the Centaur Warhulk as a proxy for the Dracotaur for my game tonight - it's not perfect, but it is intimidating enough! Also, I think that a Blackspawn Exterminator would be an ok Half-dragon mummy, especially if you give it a quick dry-brush coat of off-white for that dry and withered look.

The Draconum Mummy is just so ideal I see no need to look elsewhere. It's slightly larger than expected, but that's not a huge deal. BTW, I updated through the second section. I gave up looking for a lot of the more generic human figures right now. I just didn't feel like looking for a figure good for 32 human sailors and the like ;) Feel free to suggest good figures, and I'll try looking later.

It's slightly shorter (it comes up to the Bone Devil's chin), but the skeletal wings mean it takes up a bit more space.
Frederyck 05-19-07, 09:31 AM	Ok, I think that's a bit too large for me. I think I'll stick with the Blackspawn Exterminator as a proxy. It is a medium humanoid with a black dragon-head, as per description, and even though there is no mummy-wrapping on it, I prefer it to the crowish look of the Draconum mini.
Hellgaunt 05-20-07, 04:59 AM	Since this thread is about miniatures I would like to know, what are people using for battlemats to represent the maps shown in the adventure? I don't see any references in the book to it so I'm wondering what everyone else is using.
Frederyck 05-20-07, 08:17 AM	I generally use a Chessex battle mat (it might be called megamat?), but for the cooler set encounters like the chain bridge etc, I use Dungeon Tiles ( I have three of each set so far). To be fair, I think that they require quite a bit of planning to use though, so be prepared for that.

Had me puzzled as well. Might be worth an email to Wizards then. For now I'm using the online map generator created by Wizards (just recently). It does a mediocre trick.
WotC_Shoe 05-22-07, 05:18 PM	For persistent harriers, I used Warforged Scout minis (from War Drums). Used a Blackspawn Exterminator for the half-dragon mummy. I didn't use minis for Seadragon's crew, since the PCs handled the challenge in the festhall, instead. I might have used the Inspired Lieutenant for Dura, though the recent Elf Warmage (Bloodwar) is a good dagger-wielding bad girl who could plausibly be armored. I wish I had dracotaur minis when I ran that encounter, but used Wemics instead. Didn't use a mini for the squid -- treated it more like terrain, showing the area it could reach on the battlemap. For a surface, I used some dry-erase, and some dwarven forge, but also some maps drawn on their initial sketch pads (big easel-pad 20x30" gridded sheets).
