I pre-ordered MoE on Oct. 7th. And it's estimated delivery is Dec. 17th. wtf?? Why is this taking so long? I also ordered at one point RoE and the Batman Begins deluxe dvd (together) and that took a while because BB wasn't released yet, but it's estimated delivery was way off on that one too, I got it almost the next day once BB was released. This doesn't make sense to me though why Magic of Eberron is held up.

11-02-05, 03:18 PM I was going to preorder MoE, but the estimated delivery date in December convinced me not to. I kept poking at Amazon (because my FLGS is over 1.5 hours drive, each way), and it finally showed as "released" last week. I placed the order Wed night, used Super Saver (read: slow) shipping, and got my copy on Monday (Oct 31).

If your order still hasn't shipped, you might check to see that there isn't something else holding up the train. If you use uber-cheap shipping, Amazon will wait until everything is in stock, packaged, and ready to ship.

11-02-05, 08:39 PM I;ve been in the same boat. I too pre-ordered on the 7th. Supposedly they shipped mine Monday the 31st, but I have 2 day shipping and they still say Dec10 as my estimated delivery.

If I don't get it tomorow I'm going to chew someone out.

I guess it's pretty common for them to be about a MONTH behind the real release date. I don;t mind waiting for the big discount, but they should have TOLD us as much. Every querry I sent to amazon had them sounding like their release date was the only one

11-02-05, 10:24 PM I ordered it MoE and RoE from Amazon yesterday and it shipped out today. With Super-saver shipping, it's due Nov 12th.

After a handful of chats with CS just trying to find out what the problem was some ***hole actually canceled my order (after I told them not to) and gave me instore credit for the books, but not the shipping. But it got straightened out and infact I did better off after the fact (I think I ended up with 10 bucks extra).

Most of the FLGSs around my area were driven out of business when WOTC opened their chain stores in the malls. They couldn't compete with the expensive mall locations and the direct pipeline for WOTC goods (and sheer buying power for other games)
Then Hasbro decided they weren't making as much money as KayBee and sold them off after the damage was done. I think Gamekeeper runs them now.

I won't buy from them, just on principle, and the stores that are left re both run by idiots (and too much trouble to get to)

It's times like this I miss running my dad's old game store.

11-03-05, 02:16 AM I ordered from amazon and had to change mine to gameoutfitter, a nice little online store with the prices of amazon and none of the big problems. They order direct from WotC.

I recieved it in less than 2 days at the amazon price. Despite some of the reviews it is a very goodbook full of flavor.

11-03-05, 03:35 AM Amazon usually gets DnD books a few weeks (or a month) after the actual release date. In early October, it listed the release date of the book as November 8th. Around October 21st they changed that to the actual release date, but didn't have any copies. Then they got some a few days later. I know someone who ordered one from Amazon on the 23rd and has his already, while I ordered mine from Overstock on the 21st and it still isn't here.

I'd guess the book is in demand, and since it is the beginning of shopping season, I'd imagine the stores are a little overwhelmed. Now is the time when they get set up and organized for the coming holiday hell, as evidenced by Overstock's "we're sorry that tracking your package doesn't work right now, we're updating the system" nonsense.

So, wait it out patiently, like me, and send them an email asking WTF is up. Amazon has always been good about refunding me money when I had problems, and I've never had a problem with them fixing things properly.

As the FLGS, well not all of us have an "F" at the beginning. There are three stores in my town, and two charge retail price. The third is a horrible store that doesn't deserve my business anymore. I don't like paying retail, especially as my car now eats up all my excess DnD funds.

All this aside... I don't think discussing the retailers is allowed on the boards.

11-03-05, 07:22 AM I have ditched Amazon and Barnes and Noble because of their ship dates. I wrote them a nice letter after cancelling an order for 2 books after I found them on my FLGS shelves 3 weeks before Amazon said they were to be released.

Paizo.com shipped mine 4 days after it was released and I received it 10 days after it was released.

Will have to check out gameoutfitter.com

11-03-05, 07:30 AM Amazon sucks when it comes to RPGbooks, at least here in germany (but it seems to be the same in the us).

I prefer online rpg-stores like www.dragonworld.de - they usually ship the same day as you place your order, so you receive the books not later than 48 hours.

11-10-05, 03:44 PM I had this exact problem but I've run into it before. They are having some sort of weird glitch. The way to fix it is to change the shipping type then change it back, or just leave it at the new shipping time. This resets the system and their database realizes its in stock and it gets shipped in a day or two depending on the your shipping type.
