| Sir Elton08-28-06, 09:57 PM | What would happen if a bunch of slavers kidnapped everybody's favorite Vampiress, Moranna ir'Wynarn? |
| Salla08-28-06, 10:42 PM | I would feel very, very sorry for those slavers. |
| Nived08-29-06, 12:43 AM | Someone would have lunch and someone would be dead. |
| Sir Elton08-29-06, 12:52 AM | Well, Kidnapping Etrigani would go too far. Kaius would probably take care of the Slavers, personally. Well, does anyone have any suggestions for an NPC that would be enslaved by slavers that Kaius would care about that isn't a freaking vampire? :) I wanted to do a Goth Girl type NPC who is a native of Karrnath, and is connected well enough to the Royal Family for Kaius to care enough to hire adventurers but not care enough to take care of it himself. :) |
| Sythion08-29-06, 02:06 AM | In my vision of Karrnath, I doubt Kaius would personally handle a situation and risk revealing his secret. Kaius would also probably work through official means to track them down, unless the adventurers had proven themselves exceptionally capable to him before. Or maybe Kaius doesn't want anyone to know this goth girl is missing, so he hires adventurers to keep a low profile about it. Maybe he's being blackmailed. Of course, there's always the possibility that it's all a clever trap. Once the adventurer's find out they were set up to fail, it might be too late! (duh Duh DUHN!) |

| Syltorian08-29-06, 09:00 AM | I wanted to do a Goth Girl type NPC who is a native of Karrnath, and is connected well enough to the Royal Family for Kaius to care enough to hire adventurers but not care enough to take care of it himself. :) Perhaps a member of Kaius' harem? They are not directly connected to the family, and thus less likely to trigger an official reaction than Moranna, Haydith or Etrigani. The Harem is not universally accepted in Karrnath, I would imagine. It calls thus for some discretion to retrieve the kidnapped harem-girl without having the people of Karrn call you decadent and losing your grip on the martial culture. Add to this that it would perhaps be a bad move to have the warlords of Karrnath, or the Dark Cabinet find out what the Harem is there for in reality, and it might make sense to use unconnected agents (the PCs) for this mission. You risk less of a civil war, and it is easier to shut them up rather than account for the elimination of your own official agents, if they find out too much. Besides, the Blood of Vol could be mixed up in there too, and thus you need people whose loyalties do not lie with Vol. Many Karrns could be drawn between loyalty to King and loyalty to religion. |

| Kreistor108-29-06, 11:31 AM | You could probably just create a cousin of Kaius III to serve your purpose. And, BTW, I don't see a King ever getting his hands dirty rescuing even his sister. He's got Knights of the realm to do that job for him. |
| Sir Elton09-03-06, 01:14 AM | Perhaps a member of Kaius' harem? I love this idea! :) |

She's a ward of the Brelish crown so it would not be likely that Kaius could just dispatch troops. He would have to delegate the task to someone else. Perhaps someone is trying to stir up hostilities between the two nations and arranges to have her fall into the slaver's clutches. She is King Boranel's responsibility. The pc's could be hired by Kaius while the Dark Lanterns race against them to claim credit for the rescue (so the Brelish Crown saves face). You can always make Haydith more of a "perky goth". ;) :b: :b: :b: |
| Sir Elton09-03-06, 10:14 PM | In this campaign, the Slave Lords didn't sail around Q'barra and Valenar. They were too simply afraid of the Valenar Elves to "bully" them and make slaves of them. However, if no one opposes them, they might get bold enough to start raiding the Valenar Coast to get pretty elf maids, strip them naked of their dignity, and sell them into slavery. |
| Breeder09-04-06, 08:58 AM | What if he catches wind that someone is planning a prison break of the real Kaius? |

The slave lords are pirates of the Lhazaar Principalities, using A1-A4. My plans were: * The PCs are hired and get on a skyship. * The skyship takes them to highport. when they see Highport in sight, they are attacked by a flying frigate. image of a frigate (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7e/Dumont-d%27Urville.web.jpg/180px-Dumont-d%27Urville.web.jpg) * The frigate is flying the Jolly Rodger (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/ff/Flag_of_Edward_England.svg/750px-Flag_of_Edward_England.svg.png). * Onboard are the slavers, who are armed with magic wands that cast a new spell: the cold ball. The cold ball freezes the water vapor in it, creating ice (it occupies the same cubic feet as a "ball of abysmal flame" i.e. the fire ball: 10' by 10' by 10') (the cold ball creates a flashpoint portal to the paraelemental plane of cold. It then sucks the heat in the air into the paraelemental plane of cold, slowing the motion of water vapor in the air, but not so much as freezing helium, nitrogen, or oxygen; but possibly carbon dioxide though). The cold ball would be used to hit the Bound Fire Elemental in the elemental ring, encrusting the ring with ice. Unable to fly, the skyship coasts in the air for about 10 seconds, then falls down and splashes into the ocean stern first, it's stern being heavier than the bow. Of course, ice is less dense than water, so the skyship is made buoyant and rights itself before it gets half way into the sea. * The Frigate flies due to having the flying ship template. * The pirates are sick and tired of House Lyrandar and their skyships, so they built a frigate that can fly without a bound fire elemental. * The pirates conveniently splash down, board the sky ship, and armed with cutlasses (short sword), rapiers, and small swords. Some of them are armed with wands of fire (fire arrow) or lightning (lightning bolt/I]). * They take the captain, crew, and passengers captive but not the PCs, who managed to escape by way of dinghies that were enchanted with [I]featherfall. It clearly establishes how evil the slave lords are. |
