| The Forgotten Traveler10-17-05, 06:55 AM | Well, the title should explain itself. To kick it off, here's mine. The party is playing through The Forgotten Forge module, and they've just gotten up to the part with Saber's ambush. After some lucky hits, Saber has been reduced to 8 HP. So, as the module states, Saber tries to run away. He starts to charge towards the PC's, only to be stopped by the Halfling Barbarian. The next round, he tries the same thing, with the same result. A couple actions later, Saber is defeated. |
| Crimsonsun10-17-05, 09:02 AM | While doing some module in a Dungeon, we're attacked by quite a large party of halfings, clawfoots, and a Swordtooth (aka T-rex)... Being my tricky artificer self, I calmly pull out my spanner, and cast the Spell Storing Item infusion... DM asks me what spell Im storing... "3rd level bard spell, Charm Monster" DM is flabbergasted :D The t-rex failed his save, and proceeded to have a lunch of halfings :D |
| MadLetter10-17-05, 09:58 AM | A House Ghallanda Inn in the Eldeen... Just our magic-user Naigalon sitting in a corner (his player too) and whimpering about 'hearing the voices'... I already thgough i gave him a shock for his lifetime... truly... THAT was something that confused me... what a sight *g* Was a little Horror-Storytelling in combination with a magical book and a few other things... (I play a little abberant regarding astral space and the like..) |
| shadowpavement10-17-05, 10:04 AM | The best one had to be this past weekend when my players were dealing wtih an ettin while at the same time being ambushed by Hobgoblin mercs. Other than the hilarity that insued with the changling rogue using a plank of wood to lance the out of control giant in the happy sack, the best part was when the changeling was disguised as one of the other hobgoblins to get info from the only hobgoblin that was captured. Me, being of french canadian decent and trying to use an accent for the hobgoblin, sliped into my old ways, and then when the changling started to call the townsfolk "paleskins" suddenly turned the whole thing into a mockery of the French & Indian wars, which, when pointed out by my girlfriend had us on our sides for about 10 minuites and totally destroyed the most stoic player in the game. |
| anarco_rata10-17-05, 10:21 AM | I started my current eberron campaign with the amazing adventure by MarkB, errand of mercy... ATTENTION spoilers! in this adventure, you fight a rakasha on top of an airship So, my three players, an artificer, a warforged fighter/artificer and a kalashtar psychic warrior where really injured by previous encounters, and i was sure i was heading thorwards a tpk. But no! this airship had a huge ballista! with a natural 20 on the disable device check, the artificer broke the mechanism, allowing the warforged fighter to aim it insede the airship...to the rakhasha! the Psy warrior was barely resisting the rakasha's cuts and stabs, giving enough time for the artificer to align the ballista into a GOOD PIERCING WEAPON! warforged fires..natural 20! everyone is exited...we roll to confirm... o no! they missed the rakashas AC by one! but wait, the artificer's iron defender, what is he doing? bitting the rakashas's tail sure isn't going to hurt him, but it does help the warforged to score a critical hit and stab the rakasha right into the airship's wall! he went down with a roar of surprise... a GREAT way to start a campaign! |
| snikt-snikt10-17-05, 10:44 AM | 1) While in Sharn the cleric of our group was pursuing a gnoll kidnapper and he was escaping across a large chain connecting two towers. Instead of chasing him across the slippery chain (it was raining as usual) the cleric called forth celestial monkeys which pursued the gnoll biting, scratching, and grappling him until he fell off the chain and splattered all over a bridge below. 2) Still in Sharn a pickpoket was commissioned to lift a certain item from the warforged barbarian of the group. He succeeded but the warforged noticed and chased him to a more secluded outer edge of a tower, at which point the warforged grabbed him took back the item and flung the man off the tower to the depths of sharn. |
| Ohtar Turinson10-17-05, 10:56 AM | So far the most memorable moment has to be the EC monk with an Aberrant Dragonmark. She leapt off one bridge in Sharn, successfully landed without taking damage (20 ft. drop, level 2 monk, made several rolls) and hit the party's would-be inquisitive who had asked the wrong questions with Inflict Light Wounds as well as her fist. He was surprised, to say the least. |

Artficers always have the right tool for the job! |
| pilias_simber10-17-05, 04:06 PM | While proceeding through a dungeon of mine the PC's come to a line of Pit Traps (DC 10 jump check) with a few goblins on the far end firing at them. The fighters and rogue all proceed to fail their jump checks multiple times while the mages make it across no problem (the mages had no jump ranks, the fighters and rogue did). This low CR for the party ends up sapping almost all of their HP and all of the mage's spells for the day... After the game I remind the players that they have Action Points and could have easily made it across using AP |
| LugWrench10-17-05, 05:07 PM | Running the module mentioned earlier, in Dungeon magazine. While the party is busy talking to the halfling leader, trying to convince her that the group 'just stumbled' on the crypt and please dont let the Swordtooth Titan eat us, the Warforged barbarian/fighter goes into the crypts. The manticore inside jumps him, and does some serious damage with a few good rolls. The Warforged rages and proceeds to solo a righteously mad manticore. The rest of the players stop and stare at the warforged player, who gives the best response I have yet to hear.... 'What, it was just a manticore. Its not like im fighting Tiamat." |
| Sarlax10-17-05, 06:41 PM | In the first adventure, two warforged have gotten in trouble with security at Morgrave and flee. The artificer has purchased a feather token; he takes hold of the fighter's arm and leaps off the edge of the tower, failing to consider that his Str 10 will not help him hold the fighter, whose player had specifically said, "I want Martillo to weigh the maximum amount." |
| Enforcer110-17-05, 06:46 PM | One of the players in the group I am in, was playing a dwarf fighter/extreme explorer. Well, this dwarf had been having some bad rolls lately, and was in Sharn to rest. A gnome theif managed to steal something from him and ran off of the sides of a tower (having a cloak or something of wings). The palyer decides to jump after the gnome, even though he had used ALL of his action points last adventure. He makes his jump roll, and then had to roll to hit. A 20 is rolled, but the DM decides he needs to "confirm" the hit, and rolls another 20. He got his item back, and went down in history (in our group at least), as the luckiest dwarf alive. |
| REN10-17-05, 08:14 PM | I love the potential in Changlings, so my most memorale moment takes place at the Broken Anvil with a Changeling encounter that sent my player out of the room in need of a 'break'. I played a solo adventure with my friend who's character has a ridiculously high Charisma score. I decided to throw a sexy girlfriend his way. They met at the Broken Anvil Inn/Tavern every day for 3 weeks. We didn't actualy roleplay the whole thing (that would be too creepy :D ) but we did actually role played the final meeting before 'it happened'. First, I got into character and 'she' entised him to come over to her place since her lady boss (who happened to be Lady Elaydren from the Forgotten Forge Adventure, and he didn't know) was going out of town for a few days. The plan was to meet back at the apartment at night where they would 'get busy'. So the girl left and Fizz, the PC, sat there grinning ear to ear. The player was thinking - what does this all have to do with adventuring. Then 'it happened' . Someone in the Tavern came up behind him and patted him on the back and sat down in front of Fizz. The character was a rough looking rouge type character who pointed out that he had 'friends' at the bar watching so Fizz should behave. He demanded that Fizz steal the recdently recovered Schema from Lady E, and return it to him - since Fizz would be entering the Aparmtent and bypass all the security. Fizz said no and was about to leave when the man in front of him stopped him and spoke back to Fizz in his own voice. I reached in slowly towards my friend and said 'Either you steel the item or Fizz will certainly have a good time with your girlfriend' - as he changed into Fizz before his eyes! I don't know if it was my breath or perhaps he though I was about to 'come out of the closet' or something - LOL - but he got up and went for a water break! Anyhow, the whole enounter led to a one time mini-adventure in between the SOTLW and WOAVB modules. |
| DiscoGobbo10-17-05, 10:44 PM | My Party's moments are all related to their frequent acts of brutality. In the intro adventure, the party meets on a busy street when the Shifter Ranger hucks a spear though the crowds of people, impaling a Hobgoblin Gang member he recognized. The other PCs then attack the Shifter. Later, the Warforged Fighter beats the same gang's boss to death with his slam attack in a boxing match. In the Forgotten Forge Adventure, the Warforged Fighter one-hit Saber, but only after he finished his lengthy smack-talking. Greataxe crits hurt. In Starlaskur, the come across a Order of the Emerald Claw cell. They infiltrate (Break through a window) the house when most are away, and butcher the inhabitants. They find one sleeping, and wake him by having the Warforged (All 400 lbs of him) lie on top of the guy. After scaring the hell out of him, they snap his neck. In the wilderness of northeast Breland, after a hasty exit from Starlaskur (don't ask), they are attacked by a revenge-seeking Warforged agent of the Lord of Blades. They overcome him and his Iron Defender bloodhounds, and instead of just killing him, the Shifter Ranger cuts off his fingers and feet and ties him to a tree. "Who's the better hunter now?" I believe was the line. The party comes to Arythawn keep, now abandoned save for a few OEC guards, who staged a coup from within. Oh and a Gelatinous cube. They subdue one OEC member, after giving his buddy two arrows to the face. After questioning the prisoner, they carry him on up to the Cube and toss him in. At a Ruin in the Thornwood, the find the OEC expedition that they've been chasing. The leader of this group had an irratating habit of escaping on the back of a Hippogryph. So they sneak into the camp and Coup-de-grace the sleeping Hippogryph, just to spite the OEC leader. They then attack the camp from the roof of the ruin. The Warforged Fighter decided to take "Body as a weapon" literally, and FALLS on one of the enemy, crushing him to death. Later, two OEC members flee the main entrance of the ruin, pursued by a pair of Clawfoots (Clawfeet?). From the roof, the party takes a couple shots at the legs of the pair, and gleefully watches the Dinos rip em apart. It's a pretty fun group, I have to say. :D |

| Chrys10-18-05, 10:15 AM | Ok Let me set up the Scene, Our group (all 1st level) has just fallen in to a part of the Sharn Sewers that are controled by a Warforged named Arcade (yes he was total based off a the Marvel villian of the same name ). Having made our way pass numerous traps we come to a big room; Then all the doors lock and three small Oozes (Living Sleep spells... That could only eat someone if they were a sleep) are let in to the room. Well the Human artificer and Kalistar Psion fell under its spell; So it fell to the Warforged fighter Kept the Oozes way from them as best he could. At the other end of the room our Elf Assassin (Ninja class) was trying to open the door to get us out. Now then I (Elf Paladin) Stood in the center of the room, trying to lure the oozes in to one place. Well after a few rounds The door was open and every one left ... I just happen to leave a few rounds after every one else with my cape slung over my shoulder in a crude bag shape. ;) Cut to the group entering Arcade's control room; He had surounded himself with Goblin and Hobgoblin thugs. Well I went first; I threw my impromtu bag at Arcade; the bag bust open and all tree of the living sleep spells spilled out over all the thugs. A few round later the artificer and assassin were looting, the Fighter and Psion are making sure Arcade does not was up until he is given over to the sharn city guards. Meanwhile I'm trying to fit a much bigger living sleep spell in my poorly made Cape-bag :D |
| Grymar10-18-05, 10:39 AM | The group I DM was on a ship going through the Lhazaar Principalities when they were attacked by Cloudreaver pirates. As the pirates are trying to board (bad angle, so they could only cross one or two at a time) the party artificer pulls out 3 scrolls. Grease + burning hands + web means that of the 20 pirates, 17 of them burned to death while still on their own ship, which caught on fire and quickly sank. The three survivors were Mika and two of her crew who were the only to make it across onto the party ship. They were all rapidly beheaded and tossed overboard. 20 pirates, including a 6th level barbarian, killed in 4 rounds by two first level spells, one second level spell, and a series of very bad rolls by the DM. |
| Thecursed10-18-05, 03:11 PM | The events that I’m going explain, happened only due to the fact that one: I started my game at 12am and end around 7 pm the next day (and that’s how I got addicted to full throttle...) and two: I was very tired. First in the party there was a well you can call him at best a fiendish elf warlock, a human barbar with titan bloodline, and a human wizard. Well I started them off in with the intro module in the back of the ECS. They get to part were they face off with the bug swarms. Sadly none of them have ever come across swarms before, so they didn't know how to fight them (lol). It got to the point were fours swarms were well "swarming" the now huge (enlarged) barbar while the mage was beating off another with his torch. Then, again this is due to much needed sleep and the lack there of, the warlock came up with a "brilliant" idea. He lit himself on fire via the many flasks of lamp oil the mage always carries with him, and then preceded to bear hug the barbar. This killed 1 out of 4 swarms that were on the, now also on fire, barbar. As the rest of the 3 swarms fell off the barbar and started fleeing, the barbar came up with this own "brilliant" idea. He grabbed the now stark naked warlock by his ankles, raged, and ran after the fleeing swarms, naked on fire and swinging his “flaming warlock club of swarmbashing”. To sum it up the mage lost about half his spell book due to some swarm loving, the warlock just lost his cloths but was unharmed due to his fire resistance, and the barbar need some much needed healing and cloths as well. Later in the game it was like 5pm in real life, the party gets to the point were they come across the big adamantine door in the broken building. After taking literally 30 mins to find THE BIG GAPING HOLE IN THE ROOF! The barbar manages to break the door down, (lol) to find another door...anyway as the party recovers the schema and is about to leave, they begin battle with the ever impressive Saber (who I had to beef up because the party wanted to take there sweet time checking every part of the damn map...) And so the battle starts and Saber opens up with is flaming bolts trying to take out the mage, who in fact almost falls to them (he was at 2 hp) then it was the again enlarged barbars turn. And what does he use to combat this mighty warforged with is DR 2/adamantine you ask? Well I’ll tell you....HE USES THE FREAKING DOOR! which by the way is also made of adamantine...long story short the damn barbar beats Saber to slag and later uses that same door to create him self some adamantine armor...with a nice indent of saber's face in it. |

| Tsank10-19-05, 12:01 PM | We're currently playing a home-brewed campaign set in Eberron. The whole story in brief so far is the PC's have been fighting the Order of the Emerald Claw, in particular a character named Darren Tormesh. My party was composed of a elan wilder (me), xeph soulknife, dwarf cleric, gnome bard, and gnome sorceress. For an idea of what kind of party we are i'll tell you this, our party's name is Two f*cked up Wackos, Some Gnomes and a Dwarf. Yea.... anyway while chasing down this Darren fellow we came upon a dungeon where a "green dragon" (later discovered to be a Major image) had his lair. Upon arrived the soulknife broke a hole in the door, the dragon began to speak to us and then said that Darren was his friend, immediately my character tried to blast the dragon with an Energy Ray but the Soulknife deflected my arm causing my ray to miss, seeing how at the time the dragon wasn't hostile towards us. the Dragon then was like what you shot a ray at me, and called for some mage named Arthur and walked out of sight. We burst down the door and found a rather huge room (60 ft. high ceiling) completely empty. My party than began to search the room and found a door at the back which was closed but not lock. Enter the greater invisible Mage Arthur who now begins attacking us with an Evards black tentacle spell set near the entrance of the room, catching the bard, cleric, and sorceress. The soulknife makes his check and luckily my wilder with an 8 str. isn't in the area but searching the door at the back. I decided that the mage must be behind the door or at least somewhere in the room, now knowing he must be invisible I use a powerstone of Touchsight but do not detect the mage anywhere within range so I open the door finding a huge dresser inside and nothing else. Meanwhile my party is still grappling with the Evards and still no clue where the mage is. I detect that the dresser or something inside the dresser is alive and so I blast the Dresser. It begins talking to me, i think its a construct and seeing how there is no way it can leave the room I decide that i'll take care of it later and proceed back into the big room to find the mage. My party still having no luck finding the mage, the soulknife during the next couple rounds enters the dresser's room and starts having a conversation with it while I create some astral constructs and continue to look for the mage. Finally I detect the mage outside the huge room back the way we came, which means going through Evards to get to him. With a little help from my Astral Constructs i'm able to get through the Evards and corner him. But then he disappears from my detection again (dimension doored back into the huge room) so I have to go back through the Evards. If it seems like i'm ignoring what the other PC's are doing its for good reason, cause they aren't really doing anything, the soulknifes still talking to the dresser, my astral constructs have broken the other PC's free from the Evards and now their pretty much healing themselves trying to avoid the mage's spells. Once i'm back in the huge room I''m able to find that the Mage is now flying at the top of the room in a corner. I have by this point made 3 large Astral constructs, two with high strengths and one with wings. Using the two Astral constructs with high strengths I have them use me as an improvised weapon and they throw me about 20 ft. into the air to the flying AS who catches me and flys up another 20 ft. putting me just within range to hit the mage with a Wild surged Energy Ray. The Mage is defeated (i found out he was brought to 0 HP by my ray) but manages to escape. I now fly back down to the room and back into the Dressers room to find out that the soulknife has been tricked into a room behind the dresser and trapped their while the dresser (a mimic) attacks him. The rest of the party still not really doing much, they enter the room and help to attack the dresser to help the soulknife. My wilder enters the room and blasts the dresser with an Energy Ray after the soulknife hits it with a Greater Psionic weapon attack causing the dresser to explode. End encounter. That was a fun night. |

| CameronVk10-20-05, 02:49 PM | A great moment from the campaign I am running. Note This comes from Grasp of the Emerald Claw I will be vauge with some of the details The party has completed most of the module and are now fine combing the structure when they find a group of horrible mangeled dead Emerald Claw flunkies. The party artificer uses his spell craft and arcane lore, along with their rogue with the investigate feat to determine that they were killed by a certain type of spell trap and decide to prep the warforged juggernaut to suck it up and make the high Fort save. They prep like mad and the warforged survives the trap, all is well. Now, later they find an identical door, no bodies, and assume it has the same trap, again preped to the hilt our brave warforged steps forward joking out of character that this one is probably a reflex save or some such. Of course it was... As he steps in the trap and I say, "you hear a click and the floor opens up under your feet, make a reflex save" he of course fails and is shot out the razor lined shaft over a hundred feet above the jungle floor. As he falls he brings up the fact that he has a feather fall token, which he has stored in an extra dimensional space. Many points of damage, a warforged shaped hole in the ground and some step running later, he comes upbehind the party and states "MX109 has found a Trap" |

I love Celestial Monkeys. Wasn't Eberron, but I was once in a game where some mages on the other side of a Wall of Fire were using ranged spells to attack our party at leisure. I was playing a cleric of Thor, and the only spell that was not a buff I had memorized was Monster Summoning II. I summoned a pack of Celestial Monkeys and they used range attacks to disrupt the mages spells. What, you may ask, were they using for a ranged weapon? MONKEY FLING (CELESTIAL) POO!!!!!! Much hillarity and laughter ensued, but the GM allowed it and the mages teleported out in disgust. |
| Thorfeld10-24-05, 05:46 PM | Guess after that I should add a favorite Eberron moment... It would have to be when the group I was DMing went on a mission to retrieve word of a Fairhaven Noble's whereabouts. He had last been seen on a archeological dig at Whispering Rock. The Rock (this was pre-Explorer's Handbook) was the site of one of the Lords of Dust who whispered through the seal in a hidden chamber to all that approached the area. A twisted Cleric of Vol had captured the noble, and intended to use the noble's life force to set the Lord of Dust free, with the intent of gaining additional power for Vol in exchange. The party stumbled into the chamber as the noble was sacrificed. The party attacked, but was forced back by the servants of the cleric, both living and undead. After a fight for their lives, they managed to make it back into the main chamber, where all but the party's rogue were stricken in one form or another (only one died however). The rogue, having swallowed a potion of invisibility managed to kill the cleric and heal the party with some spare potions he had. The warforged (still extremely weak from damage) went and picked up the amulet the family of the noble had described from the nobles body. Unfortunately, the spirit of the Lord of Dust had already possessed the amulet, and placed a curse on the Warforged Artificer. From there, things got much worse... |
