Mror Holds [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-24-04, 03:08 PM Does it seem to anyone that the Mror Holds are a little underdeveloped, compared to the rest of Khorvaire? The description of the Mror Holds is only two pages, minus the map illustration, and most of the text is short and to the point, without much elaboration. It seems like they couldn't think of any ways to make dwarves new and interesting (which I admit is a bit tricky).

06-25-04, 10:51 AM Yeah, though I think it's more evident of being low on space than short on ideas. If you'll notice, a couple of nations got similarly brief treatment. Zilargo, which Keith clearly thinks is a great nation, only takes up two pages in the book. The Mror Holds may not be as distinctive an idea as Zilargo, but I'm sure there's plenty of nuance left to be explored.

I would say that the Holds are every bit as distinctive as Zilargo. But neither has yet been granted the space it needs for more than a cursory examination... There is a lot of intriguing and surprising Dwarven history, and a culture that's unique and compelling. While I've never considered playing a Dwarf or Gnome before, both races are now cool. Perhaps some of the upcoming books will allow me to say more...

Any time you think something is given short shrift in the Setting book, please remember Johnny's phrase "low on space not short of ideas". It's the truth.

I hope you are all enjoying the book as much as I am.
