| Korth06-09-05, 01:16 AM | Currently I am rpging in eberron. My group right now (some do not show up on Wednesdays when we play, those are not included) a human Fighter, Elven War mage, Formerly Human now Yaun-ti Combat medic - A class taken from the miniatures handbook, Paladin War forged, Halfling rogue, Human Wizard. Our levels are 5 and 6 throughout the group. Our First Adventure with our current dm was the sunless Garden; we fell 700 or 500 ft down a waterslide into the underdark, or ad least so far underground that its inhabitants call it the underdark. With that long unfinished adventure behind us and the people of Gloom town in the shadow marshes still turned into trees we were captured by a race of primitive white skinned elves after swimming out of the underwater cavern we fell into from the slide. Their king is obviously hiding something about himself from his people, as he knows about the surface and is in no way primitive, though he does act for his people to make them think so. He sent us on a quest to find a plant called lycan; his people were afflicted with a natural disease that made sours appear on their bodies as they grew in age, and cannot be cured magically or with potions because they have already tried to do this. So with the choices of Death and Going on an adventure, my group chose adventure. We headed back to the underwater cavern after hearing the story of how their god, seemingly it is death itself they worship or a god of death, placed a creature there that has three eyes many tentacles and a very large body, it speaks all known languages and they make regular sacrifices to it to appease it so it guards their village - We don’t actually know if it was a god that placed this creature there or if it guards them at all, also this creature is of the aquatic race that wishes to take control of all living things and subsequently uses a mixture of chemicals to change all races into their own, creating new breed able and deadlier species of their own kind that all have the same goal. We know this because at the bottom of the lake there is a small tavern; stable and a few shops, inquiring about this creature to these beings gave us this info. - We swam around with breathing potions for a time and found a yaun-ti temple that was very peaceful towards all the beings in the area but offered the "sip of the goddess" which would convert us slowly into yaun-ti. Then slowly turn us into dedicated followers of their priesthood. At the time i had a curse on me from a Belt of hill giant STR i found in loot on a dead bugbear. So we could get the lycan I and the Soon to be yaun-ti- combat medic drank the potion. We didn’t know it wasn’t the right type at the time. This belt made my character into a transsexual with 25 str, so after drinking the fluid i asked the yaun-ti priest to remove the curse and the belt, he did so, simply not knowing that it removed his goddess curse as well (why would his goddess touch be a curse to him is how my dm explained it and he would not have known or even thought about it.) From there we swam toward another spot where this plant might grow after taking some of the Priests lycan that grew there -it wasn’t the right kind but could still be useful- and we found the tavern and whatnot In the tavern we found a lich, an evil lich. Fortunately for our low level party the lich was more concerned about making a good living -so to speak- in this area than trying to make any evil plans or kill all the living in the area. So he sent us on a quest to slay a cult of yaun-ti that had of late been attacking the locals- the peaceful yaun-ti included- and taking them as slaves to convert into yaun-ti or eat. The lich seeing that we might actually be able to do this for him took a chance and gave us some magical gear to aid our quest. For the War forged paladin, a plus 1 Holy Great sword (he quite literally threw this at us because it was hurting him to be near it), A set of Boot of Elven Cunning, for me Dark Vision Goggles, A necklace that gave our war mage the power to copy two spells per day. Also for $hits and giggles our dm had a random event happen wayyyy back in the shadow marshes, we found a Decapitated Drow head that was still alive. He up to this point had been traveling with us and had actually helped us out several times (mainly cause he would rather be adventuring with a bunch of non-drow than stuck in that swamp), the psion no-eyes was the strongest orc of the area and he had actually been the one that did that to the drow head. Well our group in its greatness forgot to ask the lich what yaun-ti he wanted us to kill exactly. So the Drow head opted to stay with the lich for the time being in exchange for some magic knowledge that the drow head shared with the lich - my opinion on this is that our dm thought we were relying on him to much and being to risky in some areas - So with very little knowledge and a set of experimental breathing apparatus’s from the gnome shop keep accosted the street from the tavern we set off in the direction the lich gave us, even more ironically the only one of us that bought a seahorse mount was the war forge. - I say ironic because earlier he shot a fireball infused crossbow bolt into a monster in a five-foot hallway that the entire party occupied and made us all very angry at his lack of int- We made it to the snake temple eventually and found some slaves that we questioned for a name to call this place " City of the Serpent" were its name. Exploring around we found a 7-ft Tall Half Dragon with a two handed warhammer the size of both his fists, It does 3d6 blundering a SEPERATE 3d6 of piercing dmg when he hits because the hammer itself was shaped like a dragon and its teeth are facing outward. At first we tried to back around the corner, but he had already seen us and at first we thought we were in for a tough fight, but after Talking to Karg- His name- he was about to attack us when i paid him 2k gold to work for us instead of them. From that point on he clear the entire First floor of yaun-ti in about an hours traveling time. This wasn’t my order- yes he is obeying me, not the party, i paid him- but he took what i said literally and had no problems with it. We did the standard adventuring about and killed some more monsters including several un-hatched yaun-ti eggs and a nursery. When we go to the nursery we didn’t attack the children at first but our war mage lightning bolted something in the water as the fighter and the war forged noticed four sets of eyes in the water that quickly rose revealing themselves as Prehistoric Lizard folk- these large creatures do as much dmg as my merc unfortunately he was to Large to get to the room and was guarding our back at the main entrance. One of them died instantly from the electric dmg, another severally wounded and the other two shrugged it off, seeing as the battle was on i cast sleep and one undamaged one fell back into the water. The war forged made his checks and failed int and reflex and took 45 point of elc dmg, putting him one point away from true death - our dm lets us have -22 as true death cause those few points make the difference - When the action stared the war forged healed himself with potions and magic to he had 4 positive hp, and moved to Co de gra the sleeping lizard folk in the water, as its two companions were busy hitting me into negatives and attacking the party. With a lot of luck the wounded lizard made a 1 for hit and a 3 for his next roll and hit his not so damaged friend, his friend hit him, killing him and then he himself got killed next round. So with victory in hand we were happy. Unfortunately we all then noticed that the children who had huddled into the far side of this room were all dead because the lightning bolt, literally traveled form the water to them and to those out of the water through the ones touching- they all were in some way touching and died. So From there we moved on and came to another intersection where to the right was a hallway leading on and to the left a orgy of snakes, humans, dwarves, halflings and yaun-tis of all kinds. This was the breeding room. Our Slowly turning into a yaun-ti healer very much so enjoyed this, along with several other members of the grp, even the war forged tried to have some fun, but nobody really wanted to use his "tools". Though i honestly think yaun-ti are a cool race and that they can be attractive, more and less so than other races my character shied away only to be held by a hold person spell as a female yaun-ti caster had her way with him. - Sigh though i didn’t really mind my character had never met a yaun-ti and wasn’t really sure what he should make of the situation - After 24 hours of rest the yaun-ti discovered the nursery and began reviving the guards, we took this time to run to the right of the corridor and continue on our adventure, we ran for a long time and finally made it to a room where a medusa slept, she heard us outside the door and although i took all the magic things in the room i could find she fled out the balcony and hid on the cliff wall, our fighter walked out there not knowing she was there and got yanked up suddenly by her and whisked off, We fallowed the corridors to another room similar to the last but was divided by bars, we were attacked by the medusa, and yaun-ti guardian with a bow that shot 4 arrows at once, another lizard folk and his pet dire bear. For our free actions the guardian petrified my mercenary with a arrow of petrify while he was trying to break though the bars, I used mage hand and took the string off of his bow while he wasn’t touching it. During the battle the lizard folk died before making all but one attack as the war mage fried him with lightning bolt. The Bear died after being set on fire by the war mage and the war forged finished him with an Attack of opportunity. Now the medusa vanished and her minions were dead, suddenly the wall to our south broke away revealing the Cliffside, and the medusa spoke " congratulations for this time you have won but i will return, She said this while invisible or through some other magic had hidden herself from us. When the last visible enemy was dead the battle was declared over so I RAN closest to the wall as i could and cast color spray, she failed her saves and was stunned for a round, Appearing. I was very HAPPY. We quickly surrounded her using what spells and attacks we had left in us, our now full fledged yaun-ti latched onto her and began draining blood, i used what i had left -ray of frost for a few dmg- the war mage used her AP for the encounter and maxed out the dmg on a magic missile, the rouge did 30 points of dmg with a flanking sneak attack, when the round was over she slammed the war forged to try and make a escape but was held in a grabble by our yaun-ti friend. After Standing up i said OOC to the War forged though your great sword at her So he did, and As our dm had set it up, not telling us, or even the lich that had the sword before, the weapons slaying power only activated when thrown, he took a -4 to hit but got a natural 20 on the dice roll and the medusa exploded into bit and pieces. So we ended the day there and chose to unpetrifiy our friend rather than the mercenary, whom i will be shrinking and placing in my bag of holding so he can be freed later. So that is my adventure to his point. I was a artificer up to this point but my dm allowed me to change my class from a lvl 5 artificer to a lvl5 wiz cause i wasn’t really helping the party at all with my artificer. I admit at first i didn’t like my wizard because i wasn’t nuking anything and it seemed i was getting hit into negatives very fast, but after using a low level spell of color spray to stun a boss monster and help finish her i can say I’m excited at what else i can do later. Though he let me change my class and feats my stats are the same so for now i have a 16 int, So if anyone reading this has any suggestions about what spells i should concentrate on - I have eschew materials but since our party didn’t purchase spell components our dm is letting us not use them until we get to a shop, the whole spell component thing really make me not want to be a wizard Is there some way around using materials as a wizard at level 5? |
