| ThatOneMonk03-24-05, 10:18 PM | I just finished my character that will be introduced tomorrow in our Eberron campaign, and I was quite surprised to see that post about lawyers in eberron because guess what!! here he is! T'eid Bo'h: Half-Ogre Rogue Varient (Unearthed Arcana p.58)/3; CR 4; Large Humanoid; HD 3d6+9; hp 21; Init +2; Spd 30ft.; AC 19, touch 11, flat-footed 17; BAB +2; Grp +12; Atk melee +9 (2d6+6/ 19-20/x3, Large Adamantine Mastercrafted Two-Bladed Sword) or ranged +5 (2d8/ 19-29/x2 Large Mastercrafted Heavy Crossbow); Full Atk melee +6/+6 (2d6+6/ 19-20/x2 Large Adamantine Mastercrafted Two-Bladed Sword/ 2d6+3/ 19-20/x2 Large Silvered Mastercrafted Two-Bladed Sword) or range + 5 (2d8/ 19-29/x2 Large Mastercrafted Heavy Crossbow); SQ Darkvision 60ft., Giant's Blood, +4 Natural Armor; AL NG; SV Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +6; Str 22, Dex 15, Con 17, Int 11, Wis 16, Cha 12. Skills and Feats: Bluff +6, Climb +5, Decipher Script +5, Diplomacy +10, Disguise +3, Forgery +6, Intimidate +9, Jump +5, Knowledge (Nobility and Royalty) +5, Perform (Oratory) +6, Profession Lawyer +8, Sense Motive +8, Sleight of Hand +4, Swim +4, Speak Language +4; Two Weapon Fighting, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Two-Bladed Sword), Power Attack, Improved Sunder; Trap Sense, Evasion, Trapfinding +1; Possesions: O'rosch and L'itr- Large Mastercrafted (yes, twice) Adamantine/ Silvered Two-Bladed Sword, Large Mastercrafted Heavy Crossbow, Large Mastercrafted Chain Shirt, ID papers, Scroll case x6, Ink vial, paper sheet x15, gold earing (5 gp), gold ring (3 gp), ink pen x2. Here's how it all goes down... he's being introduced as a contact in the Gate of Gold for an adventure hook. He's a popular lower in the lower end of Sharn and settles legal differences between the city's more unfortunate citizens. Occasionally he helps when someone get's in trouble with one of the rich folk. For the most part, he follows the laws pretty closely, though when he can't make the law work for his people, he occasionally bends it, making forgeries and the such. He liked by the high and the low of les miserables. He's kinda like Dare Devil i guess, except not blind... and a half-ogre... and he's not really like him at all. He uses a combination of heart felt speeches as well as intimidation tactics when dealing with the wealthy, but with the poor, more simple 'folks', he uses either his natural prowess or his 'incredible wit' (ogres, bugbears, etc.) In combat he does his best to cripple the enemy by easily destroying their weapons and equipment with with massive size and strength, as well as the adamantine side of his two-sided sword. rock rock on! He's not really made for hardcore gaming, he's for fun. the dm likes him a lot, and i think it'll be fun trying to fight through the legal battles as well as the physical of the city of towers. What think you all?!? HAHAHAHa :evillaugh |
| KP9103-24-05, 10:33 PM | In Eberron it's called Profesion (Barriter). I looked it up. |
| ThatOneMonk03-24-05, 10:37 PM | what book and page? |
| KP9103-24-05, 10:42 PM | S:CoT has lawers under Services and Spellcasting. They are called Barristers. Also, you didn't get the Rouge Varient form Complete Arcane, it is I believe Unearthed Arcana perhaps. |
| ThatOneMonk03-24-05, 10:46 PM | Also, you didn't get the Rouge Varient form Complete Arcane, it is I believe Unearthed Arcana perhaps. GRK!!! :raincloud i suck ::edited:: |
| ThatOneMonk03-24-05, 10:48 PM | What groups would this character be associated with? I've had mixed opinions of people here... |
| Chiba_Monkey03-24-05, 10:54 PM | :uh-huh: Exactly how many times do you feel you need to post this? SERIOUSLY!! :ahem: I'll give you that it's a neat concept, very nice, but it's not so fascinating, riviting, or critical that you need to post it in three seperate forums. I'd say it belongs here, in the People and Places forum. It might fit in with the Classes, Races, etc., and people put all kinds of things in The General forum, but it DEFINTELY doesn't belong in all three. Just post something once, dude. Most of us check all the forums, if you post it where it belongs, then the people who will be interested will see it. People who aren't interested in reading are not any more likely to read it if you post it all over the place. |
| Edymnion03-24-05, 11:01 PM | Okay, I assume he's in an all Sharn game. What relation does he have with the other PCs? Why is he affiliated with them? Or, if you don't have a group for him yet, what reason would he have for joining up with a group of adventurers when he already has a successful business? |
| Edymnion03-24-05, 11:10 PM | What groups would this character be associated with? I've had mixed opinions of people here... :rolleyes:Dunno, thats something you need to decide. And what reason does he have to adventure, even if it just inside of Sharn? And why did you post this in 3 differant forums? One is sufficient, two if there is a legitimate reason for it, but 3 is just spamming... |
| Beleriphon03-24-05, 11:11 PM | Okay, I assume he's in an all Sharn game. What relation does he have with the other PCs? Why is he affiliated with them? Or, if you don't have a group for him yet, what reason would he have for joining up with a group of adventurers when he already has a successful business? I think successful, poor, half-ogre, and lawyer are relative to each other there Edy. Besides why shouldn't he adventure, mayber the law practice is his side thing, like how Spiderman is a Peter Park when he's not busy. |
| ThatOneMonk03-24-05, 11:26 PM | wtf? I think a friend of mine spammed it, i only put it in the people and places forum!!! |
| ORC_Tuhteth03-24-05, 11:26 PM | And why did you post this in 3 differant forums? One is sufficient, two if there is a legitimate reason for it, but 3 is just spamming... Just so you know, I spliced all three threads together -- this feels like a General topic, so I put it there. Happy posting! |
| stevelabny03-28-05, 04:13 AM | yeah, my question is "why does he go adventuing at all" In the game I will eventually be running, one PC will be playing a wizard/ lawyer. Top of his classes and what not. The ultimate snobby smart guy. I already have plans for at least one minor trial in the game, and would presumably work in one or two more over the course of a full campaign. But the lawyering is clearly his SECONDARY fall-back position to "travelling wizard seeking knowledge" |
| ThatOneMonk03-28-05, 02:57 PM | well, that's what I hope happens. He's been stuck in the cogs his whole life, helping the needy and what not. I've got a feeling the dm is gonna pull something that will drive him away from the cogs in order to help them. First adventure with him started, and he got involved because a bunch of warforged, specifically two with their emblems scratched out named Lift and Carry, were being led by supposed members of the tinkerers guild to clear out an area of the cogs because of the 'possible collapse of a tower'. Somethings obviously not right, so my character got involved with the party, who was investigating the suspicious activity, in order to help the oppressed citizens of the cogs. |
| fallenknight66303-29-05, 12:09 PM | i tried making a lawyer-esque character once...it didn't work out well. i wish you better luck. |
| stevelabny03-29-05, 12:12 PM | fallen...care to explain WHY it didnt work out so well? so the rest of us can avoid the same pitfalls? |
| ThatOneMonk03-29-05, 12:49 PM | fallen...care to explain WHY it didnt work out so well? No joke! I'm scared now! ;) but curious at the same time  |
| Roanth03-30-05, 06:01 PM | You should definitely use an "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer" type approach for jury trials. "I'm just a simple half-ogre and all your modern magicraft items scare me." I would also suggest pursuing the tort/litigation route for your specific practice. I am imagine there are plenty of slip-and-fall accidents on the various bridges of Sharn not to mention the incidents of drunk sky-cab drivers slamming into towers, etc. It would be a fee bonanza! Plus when your clients try to stiff you on legal bill you can show them the dark side of "Unfrozen Half-Giant Lawyer". Muhahahaha! |
