| Raziel_Brokodar05-18-05, 12:17 PM | I'm starting the three published adventures, and afterwards, I'll run "Troll Outpost". This afternoon when I get home, I'll post up our characters, they're pretty cool IMO. I've been keeping track of the progress in my MSN blog, but maybe I could get a free website from geocities or something and do what I've seen other people do, keeping track of their adventures on a website. If I don't at least I'll post up our characters for viewing here. ANYWAY Any words of advice for these adventures? |
| Raziel_Brokodar05-18-05, 12:19 PM | ...and maybe I'll get them to come up with write ups/backgrounds. :) |

| DarkerDreams05-18-05, 07:49 PM | don't know if your wizard will care as much as some do (and artificers) but there are no rules for schema or creation patterns (I've got homebrewed rules linked in my sig until they do something official). the end of the second adventure (whispers) can be a hard, hard fight- especially with all the attacks leading up to it in rapid succession... be aware of this. |
| DwarvinJedi05-18-05, 08:29 PM | Just remember that the D' prefix is for MARKED members of the dragonmarked houses, otherwise they look good. BTW, what book is the Arcane staff in? |
| Raziel_Brokodar05-24-05, 02:48 PM | UPDATE: So far we're 3/5 of the way through Shadows of the Last War, we stayed away from the Emerald Claw camp, and had fun with the glass zombies. (Highlight, me rolling a 1 and having my Greataxe slip from my hands, then weaponless, I shifted and went to tackle a zombie, I rolled a 1 on Balance and fell on my ass on the glass) Also my party does not trust Failin... hahaha!!! :D Just remember that the D' prefix is for MARKED members of the dragonmarked houses, otherwise they look good. BTW, what book is the Arcane staff in? Arcane Staff? I came up with it myself Arcane Staff Melee attack 1d4 Ranged energy attack 2d4 + int/level (max your intelligence modifier), range 30ft. 1/day provides 30ft illumination for a number of rounds equal to your intelligence modifier. NO LIMIT ON NUMBER OF ENERGY ATTACKS, this is to make his low level wizard not feel useless when his spells run out. |
| Taigis05-24-05, 05:45 PM | Just remember that the D' prefix is for MARKED members of the dragonmarked houses, otherwise they look good. BTW, what book is the Arcane staff in? What is the reference that only marked members have the D' prefix? The ECS on page 138 indicates that "those born of the blood of the dragonmarked houses add a d' to their surname." Further, 231 differentiates between those of blood and those who develop marks. Is there another source that I'm missing? Taigis |

| getyourspotusa05-25-05, 02:20 PM | P. 332, end of paragraph 2, City of Towers: "Those who possess a dragonmark may add the suffix d' to the house name. Thus, Baron Merrix d'Cannith carries the Mark of Making, while Lord Heldoran Cannith does not." Hope this... helps? <> |

| Raziel_Brokodar06-02-05, 09:39 AM | Man................... I need to have a session this weekend... I'm going crazy... :( |
| Wasteland Knight06-02-05, 07:16 PM | Interesting characters...out of curiousity, how were their stats generated? Point buy or roll? |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-03-05, 10:42 AM | Interesting characters...out of curiousity, how were their stats generated? Point buy or roll? Well........ The guy who controls the wizard, and myself, we both rolled similar rolls... I rolled: 18, 17, 17, 10, 14, 12 He rolled: 18, 17, 17, 10, 15, 12 So since two more characters had to be made, I figured we'd compromise on... 18, 17, 17, 10, 14, 12 for all characters... (since 15 and 14 have +2, I decided to take the lower) And.......... I decided that we'd all take those rolls and arrange them how we wished. BTW!!! Unless a nuke goes off over my town, I'm finally playing again.. :D (watches sky... :( ) |
| EscherEnigma06-03-05, 12:05 PM | I know how you feel. After going nearly a month without any game, and close to a year without a campaign, I'm really excited to be gaming soon as well. Even if I couldn't con anyone else into DMing... |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-03-05, 12:43 PM | I know how you feel. After going nearly a month without any game, and close to a year without a campaign, I'm really excited to be gaming soon as well. Even if I couldn't con anyone else into DMing... Yeah, but I'm playing today so... haha... now I can laugh at you... :P :P :P |
| Wasteland Knight06-03-05, 07:40 PM | Well........ The guy who controls the wizard, and myself, we both rolled similar rolls... I think I might make use of your characters as NPC's in the game I'm running, but I'll need to revamp their stats as my campaign is 28 point buy. |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-03-05, 11:00 PM | That's some good rolling! I think I might make use of your characters as NPC's in the game I'm running, but I'll need to revamp their stats as my campaign is 28 point buy. Cool! thanks man... UPDATE... We're lv 3 now... I've updated that in the character descriptions... STILL NOT DONE Shadows of the Last War... We're at Whitehearth and just killed the Half-Golem Wolf, Vonrath was at a disadvantage due to the immunity to magic :D ... and I was the only one who could do enough to get past the dr/adamantine. (Brozo could, but couldn't hit... 1d8+1 could perhaps bypass the dr...) Almost killed me, brought me to 7 hp, until I was healed by Vonrath and Brozo, (cure light wounds wand and spell, I wasn't willing to use a potion in the melee due to potential attacks of oppurtunity...) The Carcass Crab poisoned Vonrath for 6 Dex Damage... ouch max.. it also nearly nearly killed me with Full attack claws... :( ANYWAY... I added some flavor elements, overlooking a cliff and seeing Cadaver Collectors, and I also added a Skin Kite when we slept, fightened the **** out of the guy on watch that night :P ... it was fun, it merged with Thosar's arm and retreated to make a copy (had 4 hp though) They enjoyed the meeting with Rorsa. Also they still wonder what's up with the glass being everywhere... Anyway, lots of critical misses and criticals for myself, 36 damage vs. Garrows vulture... Next week we better play again... |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-03-05, 11:29 PM | That's some good rolling! I think I might make use of your characters as NPC's in the game I'm running, but I'll need to revamp their stats as my campaign is 28 point buy. Thanks! :D Additional info so far... Rikskar is very trusting and sometimes slow, he's very interrupting and prefers to keep watch. He's always using shifter terms as I think are mentioned in RoE... such as.... "We're being hunted" (followed/tracked) And... remember he STINKS! It's going to be hell during Whispers of the Vampire's Blade when he has to go to the masqurade ball.. :( ALSO at times he conviently gets critical misses and critical hits... odd... Brozo is a man lost, he never seems to know what to do, he's always boomeranging... and ALWAYS catches it when it returns... Vonrath seems to be the main speaker (Thosar seems to be getting used to that role, he's more of a problem solver so far) Also Vonrath likes using Lesser/or normal Orb of Cold. Thosar never hits, unless his life is at risk... He's comical and for some reason has a poor British accent, (sounds horrible, I've told him to drop it altogether) He has to learn to become the leader he was meant to be... ... man... I love this party... :D |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-17-05, 02:20 PM | :w00t: Woo Hoo! If all goes well we'll be playing today! :ayyyy!: (man, waiting to play sucks...) |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-18-05, 04:44 PM | UPDATE: Well we're finally done Shadows of the Last War... Vonrath did what many players do... he inserted the orange keycharm before the red one, suprisingly no players fell into the well. We schooled the fire elementals and living color spray, and when we left we gave the duplicate schema to Garrow, and we proceeded to slaughter the guys he left behind. Vonrath used "Toothed Tentacles" (search for it in the archives) and I raged/shifted and used my new longtooth trait and took a bite out of one guys throat. The end of SotLW for us, was messy haha... Anyway, we escorted Lady E. and I coin-flipped to see if we'd run into trouble, we didn't. We're currently back in Sharn and just sold some items, we're ready to jump into Whispers of the Vampire's Blade now! :evillaugh |
| Erudite06-19-05, 12:39 AM | Where is Troll Outpost from, may I ask? |
| Raziel_Brokodar06-19-05, 01:39 PM | Where is Troll Outpost from, may I ask? It's one of the free adventures on this site... (It's really the MM3 Web Enhancement...) http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20040917a :twitch: |
| Erudite06-19-05, 02:50 PM | Thanks, I would have missed that one! |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-03-05, 05:42 PM | UPDATE: This weekend we played again, we only got through one encounter I had planned to give us some additional experience. I also used it as a test of our abilities/to scare the party. (since we usually coast through things, always in control) It was the old classic idea of "a monster getting loose and rampaging around in the city" Here's the kicker, it was 5 CR's above the party, (CR 8) a Leechlife Otyugh. It beat us up pretty bad, but in the end we beat it (well it was a 1 hp, 3 PC's were unconcious and stabilized at the -'s, it went off to terrorize another part of Sharn, as I assume go into the sewer or get slain by some guards) I'm not sure how to reward experience, 3/4 or full... either way, the encounter took all afternoon, and we didn't have time to start Whispers of a Vampire's Blade, so it looks like we'll start that us next time. :P (pretty good encounter, it gave me an idea of what we can handle, possible 3-4 CR's above, pretty impressive) |
| Guide D'Jorasco07-09-05, 10:55 AM | Sounds like fun. Running the airship encounter is great, and just a great cliff hanger for PC's. Sad thing is, they've been at the cliffhanger part since 2 months ago. I wish I could get a decent group. I love to DM, but don't have a fun group. Usually fun group, bad DM. Ugh, if I could only find those players lol. I don't agree with the DM using a PC. There are plenty of otherways for a DM to play, he controls the entire world! Plus it can make the PC's uneasy knowing the DM, who controls the monsters also, is also in the party fighting the monsters. |
| ILL34GL307-10-05, 02:04 AM | NO LIMIT ON NUMBER OF ENERGY ATTACKS, this is to make his low level wizard not feel useless when his spells run out. Ever heard of Scribe Scroll? |
| grimwarden07-10-05, 09:40 AM | Cool! thanks man... UPDATE... ANYWAY... | Raziel_Brokodar07-11-05, 12:14 PM | sound like a great campaign, but my question : what the ... is a Skin Kite ? merging with arms etc ? sorry, english isn't my home language, and searching the web didn't help. thnx, grim Well a Skin Kite is a freakish undead monster from Libris Mortis, when it attacks it steals some constitution (flesh) from a victim... nasty stuff... :P |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-11-05, 12:24 PM | Ever heard of Scribe Scroll? Yes I have. What I'm refering to is similar to the problem they're having in D&D Online.... IMO When clerics run out of spells they still have their armor, perhaps a shield and a weapon which deals 1d6-1d8. What does a wizard do? They have poor hp, AC, and attacks, why not give them something to make them feel not useless... In my first campaign we had a necromancer, he had a scythe, but he was always stupidly in the fight where he didn't belong, because his spells ran out. He was a bad combatant as well... poor rolling by the PC, a LOT of 1's... Also I wanted the wizard to be different from all the other pansy wizards out there, (buring hands, magic missile, and mage armor) SO, I got my idea from this piece of art... note the wizard... http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/eb_gallery/82115.jpg  BAH, anyway... just an issue within our group and wizards... nevermind us... :P |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-11-05, 12:27 PM | Well we didn't play this week because the guy who plays the rogue had a "fever", oh heavens no! HAHAHA! The guy who plays the wizard has to get his father to drive him to our town (30mins away, gas money arg!...) and this poor guy doesn't show up because of a fever!?! I'm ready to DM every week!!!!!! Oh well... next week... :weep: (can't wait to go to college... new PC's... :P ) hahaha! |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-20-05, 09:35 PM | Well we didn't play this week because the guy who plays the rogue had a "fever", oh heavens no! ARG!!!!! This week I was hoping to play... but suddenly this very same guy got a mole removed from his back... (this year I've had the same thing done, not very bad procedure, I DMed...) so he tells me to wait until next week. He can't play with this? Just because his back is itchy doesn't mean he can't play D&D.... it's getting pretty pathetic... I mean if I can DM when Iwith a sore throat or a headache, or this one time I even DMed the day after I was in a car accident... does D&D mean as much to him as it does to me and some of my other players? If everybody is missing out because he doesn't come... should I be doing something???? Because seriously this is getting old... I want to start Whispers of the Vampires Blade and get that and Grasp of the Emerald Claw done this summer..... I mean the summer will be over before we know it.... Should I kick out the player? or should I just play his little "next week" game, and play another campaign or something... like a d20 modern one or something... or a mid-level one... because him not showing up is getting to be a regular thing. Bah, enough of my rant, any suggestions of what to do? |
| Radkres07-20-05, 09:48 PM | NPC him or hand his sheet over to another player. |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-20-05, 09:48 PM | Should I kick out the player? Or at least continue on without him into WoTVB?... remember there are Gather Information checks that he would be needed on... Maybe he could rejoin in Trolanport or if we miss the first airship, maybe he could be on Jade's Fury, or at Sterngate? depending on how far we get... or could I just RP him until he shows up whenever... help? |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-20-05, 09:52 PM | NPC him or hand his sheet over to another player. Yeah, you beat me to thinking of that... (see above post) When he gets back, I'll still give him the "evil eye" |
| Spirit_Golem07-21-05, 02:15 AM | If your campaign is based in Sharn (and since the players started there, why wouldn't it?), you might want to try the Eberron adventures in Dungeon magazine, issues 123, 124, and 125. They are a series of linked adventures, and I like them. |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-21-05, 11:46 AM | Thanks :D Though at least for now, I think I'll continue on, one of us will RP him... |
