| Moblin12-14-06, 06:34 PM | I'm about to have my first ever Eberron session (I'm going to be a player) and just read the entire Eberron CS. The character I'm envisioning is a half-elf cleric with the mark of storms. She is the first in three generations to manifest a dragon mark (generation as in her father and her fathers father didn't manifest one). Will her sir name still be d'Lyrandar? Can she have another sir name and the later adopt d'Lyrandar? |

Every member of a dragonmarked house (except for the honest to goodness core bloodline) actually have their own family name, and the house name as a surname/title. So, while they will say their name is Bob d'Cannith to outsiders, when talking with other Canniths, he would likely be referred to as Bob Smith. Smith being his family name that designates which family within the Cannith clan he belongs to. |

Can she have another sir name and the later adopt d'Lyrandar? Is her family of Lyrandar? Or any of the houses that make up Lyrandar? If so then yes she'd use the name Lyrandar. They don't excoriate people like her father or grandfather just because they didn't get a mark. And anyone with the dragonmark adds the d' so yes again. If she wasn't born to Lyrandar they will (more than likely) want to adopt her as a foundling and her name will be legally changed to d'Lyrandar. Of course she doesn't have to let them adopt her. And she can always tell people her name is something else. Most of my characters do not give their real name or at least not all of it. So she could have an alias. |

I wonder what it'd be like to have a dragonmark AND belong to a house... only seem to attract aberrant dragonmarks... maybe because I like them so much? Good luck! |
