Newbisan 02-24-05, 11:45 PM	I'm trying to get a feel for a name for the adventuring group I'm in. We have a half-elven paladin, elven druid, dwarven rogue, halfling wizard and a warforged fighter/artificer. The druid is the only female. I'm wanting something that fits in with the Ebberon world. Only thing remotely agreeable I've come up with is "Tamara's Union", Tamara being the constellation associated with Life, and Union reflecting our 5 different racial background (though Io, Lendys, etc. would also work, being different constellations that would fit our philosophy). I'm not too keen on this name, tho. Can someone throw in some nouns, verbs, or adjectives that would have an Ebberon flavor? We're a NG party, more interested in uncovering mysteries than anything else.
okaynowa 02-25-05, 07:24 AM	Where does the group come from, primarily? The same kingdom, or different parts? If they were primarily Karrnathi, I'd give the group a militant name involving "squad" or "brigade" or "company." If they were from the Kundarak region, I'd give them a corporate sounding name like "combine" or "compact." Eldeen Reaches? Something animalistic like "pack" or "brood." As for nouns, "shards" is pretty Eberronish. Other popular Eberron themes are dreams, marks, prophecies, empires, crowns. Does the group need a name because they're getting a recognized charter, or for other reasons?
MarkB 02-25-05, 07:32 AM	Who's the party leader, if any, and what are their individual names? Where do they come from, and where do they operate? If they're traditionalists, you could give them a name that relates to the Galifar empire. If they want to be unusual, consider using the name of one of the planes, one that reflects their nature.
Sharn Inquisitor 02-25-05, 05:06 PM	My party has come up with the name, The Sharn 5. They aren't all originally from Sharn, but it's the basis for many of their adventures. They've been reported about in the local newspapers in addition to the Korranberg Chronicle. They are sort of like action heros, and are becoming more famous as their exploits get more dangerous. It's awesome.
Newbisan 02-26-05, 08:14 PM	Yeah, I was thinking of something Sharn related as well. I also like the military name, like "Troupe" or "Brigade". There is no real reason for the name, except for 1) role play and 2) to keep my computer files seperated from the other 2 campaigns there. Mostly role play tho, hoping to carve a name for ourselves. If you're reading this, what is the name of your group?

Platoon, Brigade, Squad... since you're more interested in cracking mysteries than smiting the unjust, digging up old artifacts, or general head-bashing... "Unravelers" "Seekers in the Dark {Shadow? Blackness?} What are your party's strong-points? any one thing they tend to rely on a lot. any particular style of case they prefer to take on?

quenya 02-27-05, 01:36 PM	The "Adventuring Cadre of Steele" it wasn't in Eberron, but our campaign would have fit in really well. It took place mostly in a Metropolis. There was a halfling cleric of Pelor Garett Underbough, a fighter(duelist) who grew up joined the city guard then found he could do a lot better dueling as he adventured Jyrk Verrok, and his lazy shiftless brother Choke who used greatswords to amazing effect, then multi classed as a rouge to better steal from the Cadre. Edymnion 02-27-05, 01:45 PM	Two things you should remember in a situation like this: 1) The party is going to be (in)famous by the time they get to an even moderate level. Don't be afraid to be flashy. Think of sports starts and rock bands and that sort of thing, and use them as inspiration for a group name. You are, after all, the movie stars of your day. 2) You won't always get to pick your name. Don't forget that there are newspapers in the setting. It is just as likely, if not more likely, that you will be ASSIGNED a name. Remember, Superman did not pick that name, it was the name the Daily Planet gave to him in the paper, and he just took it as his own (the S on his chest is actually supposed to be the symbol of his family, not an S for Superman, least not in the comic continuity). If you can't pick a name, the setting will pick one for you. Even if you do pick one, you'd better be paying some bards to use the name you want in their stories, and informing the papers. Even then, you might not get the name you want ;)

Then again it's been years since I've read (one of) the origin(s) of Superman and the last Superman thing I read was the D.C Special with "Comrade Superman"
