SkaterDM 06-29-04, 06:15 PM	I just started DMing in Ebberon last Thursday, and I love it. My players love it, but they need help (their words, not mine) grasping the genre. I told them I would do backstories for their characters involving their region of origin and race, and try to provide them with movie or book (preferably movie) characters that fall along the lines of their characters. Would any of you be willing to help me help them? The characters are: Ro'laren Orien (Rog 1 Rgr 1): Illigitimate son of a lower member of the House Orien, hails from Aundair and fancies himself an "expert explorer and treasure hunter." He is very well educated and came to Sharn in hopes of gaining means to explore Xen'drik. Lott Van Phiarlan (Bard 2): The party's speaker, an elven noble from the House Phiarlan in Sharn with a bad habit of getting himself into trouble. He and Ro'laren seem to have a running contest of who can woo the most female shopkeeps in a session. He is fairly proficient with his rapier, but prefers to use his mouth more than anything else. If that fails he will rely on his Least Dragonmark of Shadow. Tank (Ftr 2): Tank was among the last hundred warforged produced and never saw combat. Early after his creation he was sold to the Phiarlan House in Sharn to act as a bodyguard for the troublesome youth Lott. The two became close despite Tank's reserved nature, and after he was freed following the Treaty of Thronehold he remained with Lott as a companion instead of a servant. He still feels quite protective of him. Warren (translated into common tongue from his kalasharian name Valath) (Clr 2): Warren is a refugee from Adar who ended up in Sharn to escape the Inspired. On his travels across Khovaire he took up worshiping the Soveirgn Host and has all but abandoned his psionic nature in hopes that he can better blend in with "normal" society.

He still feels quite protective of him. In terms of personality, these two match Captain Jester and Mr. Beeker, from Rober Asprin's Phule's company. THe series, however, isn't quite the genre of Eberron. To get into the spirit of the game, I suggest a short marathon of Indiana Jones, followed by a single-level adventure (short mission, adds level to characters). During which, you play the soundtrack to Pirates of the Carribean. Of course, this is based on the things I have at my house. YMMV

He still feels quite protective of him. Have you ever seen Red Sonja? For some reason this reminds me of the asian kids body guard....sorry I forget his name. For other idea's look at a thread on this page about inspirational movies and books! Z
