So I made a neat concept, except I can't quite figure out a way to get them where I want them.

The idea:
A werebear young male that was taught how to use arcane magic by a captive and then freed warforged during the Last War. The young boy lived and fought in the Eldeen Reaches until the end of the war. He later decides to leave the Reaches after a catastrophe (not sure what, yet) and goes to learn more about the arcane arts and being a war mage in Sharn at a magic school.

My problem is trying to get the boy to make the jump from the Eldeen Reaches to Sharn. He fought for the Reaches during the war, probably against Breland, Aundair & Thrane. Getting him to live in Breland might be hard & for him to find out about the school in Sharn & be motivated to go there is another thing I haven't been able to reason.

The Eldeen Reaches are a frontier of sorts. So you can easily say that his family has roots in location X (like Breland) back from before they settled in the Reaches Y (say, 200) years ago. Maybe there are even distant relatives there in the modern day.

If that fails, of course, you can always tie a mentor to the location... perhaps he first learned some magic from a traveling mage who had, in turn, studied in Breland, so it makes sense for him to seek out his former teacher's order for more instruction now (and it gives him an "in" with them, despite the fact that he's a reacher).

This one is down right perfect for me. I had already engineered a mentor for this character due to their age and remote location to the world (that'd make it difficult for him to learn "war mage" in the Reaches).

Thank you very much.
