All my PCs got arrested and are now sentenced to serve a life sentence in the gladiator pits of Lower Menthis in Sharn I’m working on the personalities of other gladiators that they will meet there. I would like these gladiators to be interesting personalities that in a lot of cases break the stereo type for their race.

Here is what I have so far (Any ideas you have to expand these ideas are greatly appreciated.)

Guhl the Crusher male troll half-fiend Bbn6: The Star Villian of the pits and undefeated champion since he was arrested for pillaging and mass murder in Zilargo. He was sent to Sharn for execution but at the last moment his sentence was redirected to the pits. He has since been one of the main attractions as his very presence scares the audience like no other. He brutally killed the last champion of the pits in less than 12 seconds and won the championship helm.

E’Tu-Vatak the Mighty, Male Kobold Sor9: Leader of the gladiator team the Mighty Dragons. He was arrested and sentenced to the gladiator pits for a famous Lightening rail heist that resulted in 40 passenger deaths.

Kylista Valrune, Kalashtar Psion6: Was arrested for murder. She claims she was innocent and it was self defense against her Inspired attacker. She managed to get sentenced to the gladiator pits but now needs help finding items that will help her complete her quest to root out the Inspired who have infiltrated the Sharn royalty. She is also studying dreams and she seeks a way to get back to Dal Quar and retake her home plane. Recently she has become desperate careless and ruthless in the pits. She has also gotten a hold of a drug called dreammist and has tried using it to see if it would take her to Dal Quar. She is extremely beautiful and may be in danger from the other gladiators (perhaps the party earns her trust by saving her when she is most vulnerable)?

Personalities I need:

A Fire Giant from Xen’Drik… Why was he sent to the gladiator pits? How did he get to Sharn from Xen’Drik? (This will be a major opponent for the PCs to fight, and also, if they can, talk to as he will have stories of his homeland to share…) What would his personality be though?

Any other colorful gladiator personalities you can think of?

I will need some interesting Warforged and perhaps some Shifters?

Give reasons that they were arrested and sentenced to the Gladiator pits, which in my version of the Sharn justice system is nearly the same as a death sentence. When you are convicted of a crime that carries the death sentence you can petition to be granted a chance to audition to be a gladiator, if you are lucky, you will be allowed to spend the

How about a Warforged Cleric of the Mockery?

Leatherback Warforged Monk 4/Cleric(destruction and War) 6

Leatherback was a frontline soldier on the border between Valenar, Talenta, and Cyre. He saw something that completely changed his veiw on his life to such a degree as to be considered insane.No-one has been able to talk to him long enough to find out. He wandered the Plains until he hit the Mror Holds and found a secret sect of humans hidden from the world. He responded to their doctrines and then stalked the streets of Sharn as part of a holy mission to convert the rabble. It was there he earned the title "Leatherback" for his patchwork cloak made of human skin. He was brought in on the charge of serial xenocide and mutilation. The judge was somewhat lenient in that he allowed for the fact that Leatherback was obviously insane. And so the killing machine is now the star of the One on One gladiatory matches in the 200-400 lb range, continuing his holy mission.

A fire Giant... Hmm...

Igneaous Fire Giant Fighter 4

Born under a special sign, It was read that he would emigrate to the Coldlands and be the emmissary to the nations of Khorvaire. When Igneaous came of age, he was sent to Khorvaire by ship, where he learned the common tongue. His first job was as a bouncer in The Broken Anvil, but was fired for brutality, and his refusal to pay his monumentous tab. He didn't have a firm grasp on what money was yet. His next job brought him into contact with the Mob. He acted as a hitman for a minor ganglord, but was caught and was sentenced to ten years in the Gladiator pits. He weilds a great club with extreme efficiency.

Do those help?

Well, the most obvious explanation is "he accidentally used one of the ancient giant artifacts". Really, that could be used as an excuse for anything. I'm thinking something like this:

Jarn the Brilliant (LE Artificer 6/Fighter 2) was an unusually clever fire giant whose fascination with the artifacts of his ancestors burned almost as brightly as his orange hair. Claiming to be the next step back to the reclaimation of their ancient glory, he was respected and feared in many giant tribes for his ability to understand the works of the ancients, albeit in a limited fashion. His nearly religious zeal for the works of the past fueled his dedication to the study, and few in Xen'Drik have such an intimate understanding of the ancient societies as he does.

However, when an adventuring party from Sharn stole one of his "recoveries", his fiery temper took over, and he hunted them down to their docking camp, where his foolishness led to his defeat. Amused by the "educated savage" the adventurers took him back to Sharn as a curio from the lost continent. However, he proved too violent to be a simple amusement, and after a vicious escape, he was sentenced to the pits. While he is still tremendously dangerous, his pyrotechnic combats are tremendous fan favorites, and greedy pit managers feel secure that they can keep him from escape by constantly directing his temper towards the unending stream of adventuring fools that come to defeat "the savage".

Any other colorful gladiator personalities you can think of?

I will need some interesting Warforged and perhaps some Shifters?

I could definitely see an interesting one being a nearly feral Shifter CN Barbarian/WereTouchedMaster who voluntarily entered the pits as a way of testing themselves. And on the other end of the spectrum, it would be interesting to see a Warforged LG Fighter who had been wrongfully accused and sentenced to the pits due to a judge's prejudice, who now just tries to end each fight as quickly and mercifully as possible, while he hopes and prays for one of his companions in the outside world to provide proof of his innocence...

Could definitly see a Warped Artificier providing the games with his creations. These would be modified Iron Defenders. Make a few larger in size, some with two heads, a few with breath weapons, your options are limitless.
