| Save-vs-DM11-06-04, 04:05 AM | From the Complete Arcane exceprt Double Wand Wielder You can activate two wands at the same time. Prerequisites: Craft Wand, Two-Weapon Fighting. Benefit: As a full-round action, you can wield a wand in each hand (if you have both hands free), with one wand designated as your primary wand and the other your secondary wand. Each use of the secondary wand expends 2 charges from it instead of 1. Reckless Wand Wielder You can increase the effectiveness of spells cast from a wand. Prerequisites: Use Magic Device 1 rank, Craft Wand. Benefit: By expending an additional charge, you can use a wand as if its caster level was 2 higher than its normal level, changing all the spell's level-dependent effects. For example, by expending 2 charges at once, a wand of magic missile (created at caster level 3rd) can be used at caster level 5th, firing three missiles instead of two. You can expend only 1 extra charge at a time using this feat. Gotta get these two for my artificer, I think. Modern has double fisted guns. Artificers have doubled fisted wands! Man, the wait for Sharn and CA is killing me! Cheers, SvD |
| Ph33r_the_Wheelchair11-06-04, 07:23 AM | Man, I know what you're saying. Those two feats just scream, "ARTIFICER!" I suppose there're a number of different ways you could go with the artificer, but my favorite build always revolves around heavy wand and scroll use. If I ever actually get to play in an Eberron campaign (see my sig, at the bottom), I'm gonna have to beg my DM to use Keith's suggestion (for a houserule) and switch the levels an artificer gets Craft Wand and Craft Magic Arms and Armor. Who cares about the latter, but the former is money, baby. IMO, an artificer really gets good once he can start making wands. |
| Brastan11-06-04, 07:59 AM | Sweet deal. This may change my Warforged Artificer character that I was putting together to replace a very lame cleric. For all the times my players have threatened to use monkeys with guns, its payback time baby. And my Warforged Will Be Back. |
| electrosis11-06-04, 10:52 AM | Picture your warforged with two wand sheathes while your at it. :D |
| LazarusX11-06-04, 12:00 PM | Picture your warforged with two wand sheathes while your at it. :D Boba Fett....... :bounce: |
| Hellcow11-06-04, 12:33 PM | Interesting. I'll note that both of these have existing counterparts in Eberron. Wand Mastery already increases wand effects by two levels; the question is whether this can stack with Reckless Wand Wielder for a boost of four levels, which is kind of scary. And Sharn provides a different way to get dual wand use -- I'll just note that the RPGA "At Home In The Towers" card gives you access to the "Cannith Wand Adept" PrC. Needless to say, the wand adepts are supposed to the finest wand wielders in Eberron, and as this is a trademark feature of the PrC I'm a little disappointed to see it being made available to the general public; while it's certainly good for PCs I will probably restrict its appearance among NPCs (in my campaign) to members of elite Zil or Aundairian military forces. |
| zerotkatama11-06-04, 05:54 PM | My dream of making a warforged artificer spoof of Mega Man draws ever closer and closer... :D |
| Wren11-06-04, 06:03 PM | I'm scared... The wand wielders will be everywhere. Right next to the dual scimatar wielding drow... AHHHHH! Seriously... this looks like very fun stuff. I'm also dying to get the next books in hand. |
| JBW11-06-04, 08:09 PM | Now that we have all of these Feats for improving the wand slinger, we just need to improve the wands... Anyone want to make up a double-barreled wand? Jay |
| Kinger11-07-04, 11:40 AM | Now that we have all of these Feats for improving the wand slinger, we just need to improve the wands... Anyone want to make up a double-barreled wand? Isn't there already such a thing called a "staff?" Although, if you just want something that discharges two spells at once, no, I don't think those exist. Probably with good reason. *pictures a dual-double-barreled-wand-wielding artificer* 4 spells a round, without quicken or time-stop or 3.0 haste? AUGH!! |
| Joni-san11-07-04, 12:26 PM | For some reason I started thinking about Trigun and Gungrave when I read this thread... :88E: I wonder if being Dragonmarked is a prequisite for being a Cannith Wand Adept? Becuase if it ain't then... :pint: |
| Canoy11-07-04, 02:45 PM | Will that one be in Sharn: City of Towers or something? I didn't really understand where it was from... |
| scrollreader11-07-04, 03:32 PM | Well. Twin spell is pretty much double-barrelled. And you /can/ according to the sage, make already metamagiced spells into items. I can see a twinned lesser fire orb wand with two barrels. |
| RatFlail OF DOOM!!!!11-07-04, 04:05 PM | This solves the problem all so common problem of who should i kill first. Your in a room and on both your sides are angry orcs coming in for the kill. You take out your two fireball wands, do that cool criss cross postion and bam they die. Normally you would have to pick one group, the one with angry badgers or the ones with angry mongooses |
| stone_dog11-07-04, 04:38 PM | Normally you would have to pick one group, the one with angry badgers or the ones with angry mongooses ... Is it just me or is this kid's brand of crazy getting kinda endearing? |
| RatFlail OF DOOM!!!!11-07-04, 05:28 PM | im not crazy IM NOT CRAZY IM NOT CRAZY WHO YOU CALLING CRAZY ME NO CRAZY!!! |
| JDubTrafficGod11-08-04, 06:00 AM | You're only crazy until you're sane enough to deny it. That or you're still crazy and trying to hide it. By the way, does anyone have the stats on either angry magebred badgers or angry magebred mongooses (mongi?)? Would really help my campaign. :D |
| Pinky's brain11-08-04, 07:43 AM | Now all we need is a feat to dual wield a weapon and a wand and we can have single round truestriking goodness (without being a 6th level artificer and spending 5 charges on your wand). |
| dirty_rez11-08-04, 01:43 PM | By the way, does anyone have the stats on either angry magebred badgers or angry magebred mongooses (mongi?)? Would really help my campaign. :D shouldn't it be mongeese? :) |
| scrollreader11-08-04, 03:34 PM | Now all we need is a feat to dual wield a weapon and a wand and we can have single round truestriking goodness (without being a 6th level artificer and spending 5 charges on your wand). Havoc mage. Battlecast. |
