Kiirnodel 01-05-05, 01:22 AM	I've rewatched the Hannibal series of movies (Red Dragon, The Silence of the lambs, and Hannibal) and got a great idea for a bbeg. I was going to have him as an ex-medani half elf who's taken up hospitalizing people and attempting to help, sometimes eating them...He pretty much does as Hannibal did in those movies...I love Anthony Hopkins... Expert/Rogue seemed like a good idea, so...any input/critique on this idea?
papytofu 01-05-05, 10:32 AM	I think a expert/bard would be a better chance, by this way he could enchant his ''Pray''. Put a lot of ranks in Sense motive,bluff,profession (psychiatrist) and other things like that. I find the idea a very good one by the way. Maybe you could put him at the asylum that house Ghallanda have(I can't recall where it is located...).
WizO_Sith 01-05-05, 11:12 AM	(Before I get started, allow me to heartily reccomend the original Thomas Harris novels. As excellent as the movies are - the books are so much *COOLER* - a lot of Lecter's backstory is revealed in the novel "Hannibal" and you really get to understand *WHY* he's such a monster. It doesn't excuse any of it, but you can see how having experienced what he did would turn *ANYBODY* into an insane, murderous, cannibal. - Plus, you begin to get a sense of Lector's rather warped, Mikado-like sense of humor. There's a certain evil poetry to some of his killings. Be warned however, the books are GRAPHICALLY violent and gruesome in the extreme - "Hannibal" in particular) Now, as for adapting the character for Eberron... I'd actually skip the "Expert" levels and just go for Rogue, I just wouldn't put many points into the "traditional" rogue skills (although Lecter *is* an accomplished forger and has a smattering of Breaking and Entering/stealth skills, his primary edge is his almost preternatural skill at perception - I'd max out "Sense Motive" in a big way - and his almost encyclopedic knowledge of many, many subjects). Lecter is *extremely* skilled/knowledgeable and it's clear that he'd have been an exceptional individual even if he'd never been driven mad *Gruesome Spoilers Below* by the childhood experience of watching all the adults in his family killed and eaten by Russian deserters during WWII and been locked in a barn with all the children from his family's estate (Lecter's family was Lithuanian gentry) and watched the soldiers come for one child each week (the moment in the book when he realizes what's been happening to the children after he sees the gnawed bones, teeth, and other undigested bits of his baby sister in the latrine is perhaps the most disturbing thing I've ever read - including the Canterburry Tales. I actually threw up after reading it the first time). I also think that Lector needs the "Heroic Spirit" feat, allowing to use Hero points and to simulate the almost supernatural luck the guy seems to possess.

Yeah, dropping expert and going rogue/bard isn't so bad either :D I was thinking Heroic spirit, Skill focus (Sense Motive) and maybe Persuasive or negotiator. Bardic Knowledge gives him that...knows a little bit of everything, not to mention I'll be giving him skill points out the...wazoo? I haven't been able to obtain the books, but I've been searching :D I usually like books better than the movies anyway, but thanks for that reminder.
