| Seth of the First Brigade09-04-06, 10:12 PM | I was wondering if anyone has undertaken a project such as this. I am looking for a total breakdown of the town of New Cyre. Something similar to what was done for Sharn in its sourcebook. If nothing currently exists on this scale I was wondering if any on the boards would be interested in undertaking such a project. This project would entail fleshing out the entire town as well as its inhabitants; this would include a map of the town as well as a breakdown of notable NPC's, the Noble Houses of New Cyre, and everything in between. Any takers? Seth PS: Any ideas on any Order/Orders of Cyran Knights? |

Something similar to what was done for Sharn in its sourcebook. I wrote up New Cyre a while back. My goal was to begin a Wild West campaign in Eberron. The link has been taken off of the boards, but you can find it at: http://boards1.wizards.com/archive/index.php/f-547-p-3.html It's item number 610. I'd appreciate any feedback you have on my ideas and the discussion it spawned. |
| Identitystolen09-05-06, 10:21 AM | That actually is pretty good, Bocamb, mind if I yoink it for my campaign (if my players ever get around that way)? The only real thing I could see "wrong" with it is the western theme would probably have people thinking of the wooden structures that are seen in western movies and were prevalent in the American west. I would think, since this is Cyre's last hold, that the architecture would be more permanent and reflect Cyran designs before the Mourning. Maybe in the poorer area wooden structures might exist, this is after a glorified refugee camp, but most buildings would try to convey a sense of Cyran pride (also called appreciation.) Now if I could only get my hands on something that gave a good example of Cyre architecture... As for stats on important NPCs, ECS gives Prince Oargev his class levels and 5N gives a better description of him so stating would be realitively easy for one of the more important NPCs in New Cyre. I also saw a entry on a surviving officer serving Oargev, but she (I believe the officer was a she) didn't readily appear in 5N or ECS so I'll have to take a look at my other books and take a deeper look into those two. Anyhow, the officer could be an important figure too. Closest thing to a knightly order I've seen given is the Cyran Avenger PrC in 5N. These tend to be a loose collection of individuals than a military order, but the goals of protecting the remaining Cyran people and finding out who and/or what caused the mourning would probably be similar. I'm pretty sure that New Cyre also has a security force made up of surviving soliders of the mourning, but they're no knightly order. |

Though I haven’t had the opportunity to take a full look at Bocamb's rendition of New Cyre, I suspect that it is pretty good. However it does not have to be the end all and be all for write-ups on New Cyre. For instance, on the boards Cyre in its glory days has often been compared to an Italy of sorts during its Renaissance period. Though this may not be popular with everyone it does seem to be the idea held by majority cocensus. I would be interested in more ideas on this flavor of New Cyre, one that echoes its days of glorious yore. In regards to the order of Knights for Cyre, I am aware that one does not currently exist that has been written. I am familiar with the Cyran Avengers, but I am looking for something more Knightly in the traditional sense, with the Cyran Avenger being something that one is able to attain at later lvls, similar to Aundairs Royal Eyes, or Brelands Dark Lanterns. For instance who escorts (the crown); Prince Oargev on formal matters of New Cyre business. I am almost certain that every high ranking Noble especially one descended directly from the Galifarian line of kings to have some sort of Retinue. Who are they, is it an Order of Knights from old Cyre that once served Mishann and monarchs and regents that followed after her? This is the kind of thing I am talking about. Creating such a concept and putting it on paper the way Bocamb did. I am also interested in a detailed map of New Cyre. Something maybe made with "Campaign Cartographer" or better. Any takers? PS: Thanks Bocamb, I will be taking some time to sit down and read your write up of New Cyre, but I know starting out that I am not looking for a western feel. I will still however will take a look at it and see if it can be altered slightly to better accommodate the feel that I am looking for. Thanks you for taking the time to post the link, it has been a very helpful start down this New Cyran road..:) Regards, Seth |

My interest in posting the material in the first place was simply to inspire. I've actually shifted a lot of my thinking on New Cyre over the last year and a half of play.... |
