Hi, I am new to DMing and will be starting up a game soon. I played as a player for many years in FR edition2. Now I have a hole bunch of new rules and a new setting to learn and I'm a little worried about what to throw at my new players. I am scared that I'm going to make things to hard with my inexperience. I'm writing up a champaign but in the meantime I want to send them on a few little adventures so we all get used to the new setting and 3.5 rules.

I've read a lot of hooks and ideas but they all involve higher lvl npcs. I was hoping some of the experienced DMs here could give me a few adventure ideas for a group of 6 first lvl characters within the Eberron setting.

Thanks in advance, love these forums. Lot's of great ideas out there.

What adventures in Eberron are you reading that has high level NPCs?

Though really, in my experience, a party is hard to kill. I've been in several combats, and RAN several combats, where the party didn't have a scratch afterwards. While sure, it's up to the dice, but in a lot of ways, combat only lasts 5 rounds, and if it's 4 PCs vs 1 monster, or 4 PCs versus a lot of little monsters, they're going to be fine as long as the creatures aren't hugely powerful.

The one thing you have to worry about when throwing things at your PCs is the capabilities of the monsters and the luck of the dice.

I ran an adventure where the PCs took out the bad guy in 3 rounds, because he failed both saves versus a Phantasmal Killer. Yet in the fight before that, three carrion crawlers took out the entire party - carrion crawlers can throw around a lot of attacks, and by the law of averages, they're going to hit at least once, and inevitably someone's going to fail the save versus paralysis.

So beware of creatures that can put a PC out of the fight - paralysis, entanglement, grapple, swallow whole, sleep, etc. Save or Die effects are also a threat, but 3.5 has fewer number of those. Also be aware of things like poison - unless the PCs have abilities to stop the Secondary effects, or have access to a Restoration/Lelser Restoration, then they're going to still have the poison effect after the fight itself.

The one place you have to fear is the Mournland, due to it not allowing natural healing. That's the big nasty.
