| 3nigma11-12-06, 10:46 PM | Hey all, It's been a while since I've posted, how is everyone! I was at the mall today and decided to randomly check the shelf at Barnes & Noble (on the uncommon occasion that I am there), just to see if Keith's newest book may finally happen to be out without my knowing. And finally, I was shocked to see that it was in fact the case! I was frustrated at first that it came out without my knowing so I could buy it immediately, but then I discovered that it's been out for only three days! A year ago when the second book came out, I had discovered some forums specifically for the Eberron novels, with reviews, discussions, etc. Can anyone re-direct me in the correct direction to find these? I have Google'd the heck out of it, and I can't come up with anything. Thanks a bunch! -3nigma |

However, the same admins are maintaining a general D&D novel site, www.worldsofdnd.com. You can find the Book Club forum - currently on Gates of Night! - here. (http://worldsofdnd.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36&sid=8fd784d92346a9437c7c9f4de1766bd6) It's my belief that you can now post about novels on these boards, but I'm not 100% sure about it. Either way, I look forward to seeing what people have to say about Gates of Night. |

I finished it last night and needless to say, I was very satisfied. It's my belief that you can now post about novels on these boards, but I'm not 100% sure about it. It seems that we're aloud to talk about novels again although I'm completely in the dark as to why the reversed their judgement on that particular decision. Cheers, Drake |

We're allowed to discuss them on the forums as long as we don't berate the authors and make idiots out of ourselves. That was the ruling that I read. More or less. Paraphrased. |

More or less. Paraphrased. In that case, I thought the book was awesome, I finished it last night in a four hour stretch. Couldn't put it down. Little confused about the ending, but that may have been because of the time spent reading (finished at around 4 something this morning). Is it really Daine? Or Kin? And what about Daine's Mark? Now I have to re-read the last few chapters to make sure of everything. I did like how how some of the things in the Shattered Land wound up described in The Secrets of Xen'drik. Can we expect some of the same in The Secrets of Sarlonna? How come the Inspired have an Ogre-Mage working for them? I thought they hated all outsider races? All questions lead to more questions. |

| eehamburg11-13-06, 04:10 PM | Yes, you can in fact expect this point to be addressed in Secrets of Sarlona. Wait ... wait ... wait ... so ... the Inspired aren't above the usage of using "alien" races? Bc I was under the impression that they were against much like Emperor Palpatine's pro-human anit-alien belief. If this is different, then what other races do they have relations with? |

There's no evidence that there aren't races besides humans native to Sarlonna. If they were their before the Inspired, they most likely would have been intagrated and controled a long time ago. I can buy that they are integrated ... I always thought that they were more likely slaves than equals... that is where I am confused or questioning. |

Like I said, Secrets of Sarlona will certainly clarify the role of non-humans in Riedran society. |
| eehamburg11-13-06, 04:23 PM | Who said they were equals? Like I said, Secrets of Sarlona will certainly clarify the role of non-humans in Riedran society. A valid point and thanks for answering. |
| Hellcow11-13-06, 04:29 PM | A valid point and thanks for answering. Certainly. And my apologies if I sounded snarky. Nothing in previous material has discussed this point, because it is one of those aspects of Sarlona rarely seen by outsiders. So yes, it may seem to be at odds with what's gone before, but trust me, it will make sense when seen in context. |
| WarlockOfSiberys11-13-06, 05:28 PM | Yes, you can in fact expect this point to be addressed in Secrets of Sarlona. ::shudder::... Utter sweetness... another reason to be happy I've pre-ordered it on Amazon. |
| 3nigma11-13-06, 09:36 PM | Ahhh! Thanks for the great post, Keith. However, to the rest of you- stop giving away stuff about the beloved read ahead of me! Use the "Spoiler" tag! Ahh! Thanks again =) PS - Where did the original boards go? What happened? Thanks =) |
| 3nigma11-15-06, 09:36 PM | Sorry to pest, just curious... ...so what happened to the original boards, etc.? Thanks =) -3nigma |
