| Kensan_Oni11-13-06, 07:59 PM | I am about to start my Ebberon game, and I know where I want the party to eventually end up in. However, I have new players, and I am not tied to location and plot yet, so I was wondering if anyone had any favorites in the land of Khorvaire to start in? The only thing I know is that I don't want to start in the Sharn, and I would like to team the party up with a scholarly type that needs to go out into the field to do research. Any suggestions on what other people find cool would be of interest. |

Fairhaven in Aundair sounds like a good place for you to start...you have the urban flavour of the capital with all the connections required to start a new adventure, and the University of Wynarn, the premiere source of scholars in the Five Nations. Zarash'ak, in the Shadow Marches, on the other hand is pretty much exactly the opposite. It's probably not the best place to kick off a game if the Five Nations feature strongly, but the flavour of the City of Stilts would make a nice contrast to Sharn. It might help kick off the game with more of an exploration focus if you begin at the frontier, and I imagine a few scholars wanting to do some field work outside of the Five Nations (or what once was) would come to the Shadow Marches first. |

If your "scholarly type" is a reporter for the Korranberg Chronicle, the idea of having their adventures published in the most widely-read newspaper in all of Khorvaire may be all the incentive the party needs to go exploring with your NPC. |
| Kensan_Oni11-16-06, 01:32 AM | Quick Q, then. Just cause I haven't thought about this yet. Are there like deluxe editions that have been 'harry pottered' as far as images go? I mean, it should be pretty easy in the land to create magical devices to capture images, I would imagine. You could charge a little extra for a deluxe edition, and I am sure that there would still be people to buy it, for sure. Hmm. I'll have to think about that angle. I ditched the university concept cause I couldn't think of how to get the players to defend the Girl Goblin Dormitory from the Human Gladiator Jocks... |

WOOOO! SPRING BREAK! |
| Edymnion11-16-06, 07:26 PM | My preferred starting point is actually the city of Passage. |
| Njord11-16-06, 09:37 PM | If you are wanting a more urban theme I say Rekkenmark or another big city in Karnath. It is pretty cosmopolitian and you are close to all the other 5 nations if you want to feature all of them. |
| goblin_pride11-21-06, 08:22 PM | I'd be tempted to start in Darguun or close to there, a scholarly type would love to find stout adventurers to protect him while he does some digging in the ruins of ancient Dhakaan which seem to be pretty much everywhere in the five nations and well beyond. |
| Kensan_Oni11-22-06, 02:31 AM | Well, I decided that I am going to start my game in Dragonroost. The party are hired by the Library of Zolanberg to help escort one of their inventor/researchers to a family of Silver Dragons that live inside the old city, away from the Airship yards. He has invented a new device, that takes Ebberon Dragonshards, and gives them the ability to record small periods of time, and replay the events perfectly, creating an illusion over a space that the device has observed. It's still in it's trial stages, but the Silver Dragons, who have been providing sponsership by providing the Dragonshard crystals, are eager to have it tested to see if they can preserve the memory of their children hatching. Which of course, is about where our adventure begins. |
