Gamespy has info on a new computer game called Dragonshard coming out for Eberron. The article drops some information on Xen'drik.

The Ring of Storms used to be a great elven city that was destroyed and sank into the ground. Elves that stayed in the city became drow. The Umbragen Drow.

Quote from Allen Rausch's article at Gamespy:
"The Umbragen Drow, unlike their Underdark counterparts in the Forgotten Realms, draw their magical power not from demonic connection, but from a connection with the negative energy plane of Shadow. As a result many of the Umbragen units are at least partially made out of shadow. One spellcaster's legs are missing, for example, replaced by a trailing vaporous mass of dark energy that she uses to move. Enormous fighters barely swing tiny axes and enemy units are knocked back by ghost axes that sweep the zone around them."

very interesting...I wish I could find the link, but I remember somewhere (someone official) said that the "shadow elves" were not drow and that we just needed to wait for more information.

...now it seems that our guesses might have been correct (unless in true Eberron style there is another twist in the soup that we don't yet know).

The one question I now have is: are there "non" umbragen drow in Xen'drik? I am guessing not....it seems a logical way of explaining the dark elves ebony skin. I am going to take that this new information now means:

The Umbragen = Drow

I'm fairly certain that Keith said that the Shadow Elves were created specifically for the RTS game. They are officially part of the setting, but are not the "standard" Xen'drik Drow.
