| JDubTrafficGod10-13-04, 08:43 AM | Hey guys I have a question that can have an exceedingly simple or hard answer. Shouldn't there be Knowledge: The Prophesy? It doesn't really fit any of the other Knowledge Skills, with the closest being maybe Religion, Arcana, or History. But even these don't really fit. The other problem is that even though I'm sure the skill needs to exist, I'm not sure how to use the checks. At a low level difficulty could you interpret written out portions of the prophecy? At a medium difficulty could you read the Syberis (SP?) ring? At high difficulty could you interperate the world around(wars/national skirmishes, deaths of leaders, weather patterns, unrest among the nations, earthquakes, ect.) you in conjunction with the Prophesy? What about epic difficulty? Fortune telling? p.s. Sorry if this has already been addressed. |

I'd just put the Prophecy under either Knowledge (arcana) or Knowledge (religion). |

You're looking at it all wrong! :teach: Use The Prophecy when appropriate as an answer to Knowledge arcana, religion, etc. When a player rolls one of these checks successfully and you need a good reason for why he knows something so obscure, simply say "During your studies of the Draconic Prophecies, you read something that mentioned this..." Don't make a new skill that can be used to answer questions that would better use the existing ones. Use the Prophecy as a reason that those skills work. |

| Hanuman4710-13-04, 04:53 PM | Because of the relationship between astronomical bodies (the moons) and the planes, Knowledge (the Planes) might also be appropriate for the type of oracular uses you mention. This supposition is bourn out by the Dragonshard article about Magewrights, which give the Augur ranks in both Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (arcana) and specifically mentions divination via study of the moons' movement. Gurv's interpretation also makes a lot of sense. I would use a combination of both. |
