| Kashiko05-06-05, 05:34 AM | This sucks. It's May 6th already, and no sign of Races of Eberron at all. None of the Chapters have it, or the Coles, or even my reliable comic store. Was British Columbia Canada completely forgotten when it came to shipments? I hope not. Is there any word as to what might have happened? Is it actually out yet? Were shipments behind or delayed for any reason? |
| Blizzard_Bobsan05-06-05, 06:30 AM | My preorder from Amazon was also delayed. It was shipped today which means I will have to wait at least 2 more weeks until I have the book. |
| Junkyard Dog05-06-05, 07:57 AM | Dude, that sucks, but I feel your pain. Last year I got transferred to Puerto Rico, which is pretty much a D&D wasteland, but even I was able to get Races of Eberron two weeks ago at the one comics shop which carries D&D stuff. Borders does too, but they only seem to stock books a month or more after release, if then. It's annoying how long they force Amazon to wait before shipping, because it's the only recourse some of us have. We're a small constituency, however, and I don't think Wizards cares that much about our predicament. |

Wizards isn't some monolithic corporate evil whose purpose is to steal your money, give you crappy products, or keep you from getting the games you want. The people at Wizards are gamers, too. So then some people try to build their baseless attacks by saying, "Well maybe the authors are nice guys but the marketing and sales guys are the bad ones!" Prove it. Show something that demonstrates this. Suggesting that the people who make D&D are unconcerned with the game's fans is not only rude but absurd. Why would anyone - author to sales leader to brand manager - not care that there are potential says being missed? |
| greatmonkey05-06-05, 11:05 AM | dude if you live in british columbia just make a short road trip south and visit the ol' imperialistic united states of america and pick on up. Just make sure not to break any laws or they might lock you up as a terrorist for a few years without any type of due process... hehe |

Why would anyone - author to sales leader to brand manager - not care that there are potential says being missed? You may be right. In every case, my dealings with Wizards' customer service people has been very good and perhaps I should take up this issue with them. I just saw a post here on a subject which is near and dear to my own heart and weighed in with my own experience. My assumption that they don't care about the relatively small constituency to which I referred is just that--an assumption. I can't back it up with anything concrete, other than the fact here in Puerto Rico, and apparently in places like British Columbia, Bulgaria, Norway and Venezuela, one can't get newly released books in a timely fashion. If you live in Salt Lake City, as it appears from your profile information, you may not be able to share our pain, because I can guarantee you that in any large metro area in the States you can get a new release faster than I can. My assumption is based on the following: Wizards could allow Amazon and other online booksellers to sell the products as soon as they're available, but they obviously don't. Presumably, this policy allows the mom & pop hobby shops to sell the book before the big, discounted online monsters do. I don't have a problem with that, by the way, because those shops are a constituency which is more important than my own. Still, there could be a middle ground. Wizards could allow Amazon and others to ship the books right away to non-United States addresses. My whole point is that they don't. It doesn't make them evil--which I never said--imply that they try to steal my money--which I never said--give me crappy products--which I never said--or keep me from getting the games I want--which I never said, all of which you erroneously infer from my previous post. If Wizards really does care about our predicament, but can't do anything about it, then my apologies are due: sorry, Wizards. My point is, I don't know for sure why we can't get new releases in a timely fashion, I can only assume; but I do know that we can't. And to answer your question, judging from the other posts since yours, no, no one else here is sick of these sentiments; what we're sick of on this board is not being able to get new D&D releases in a timely fashion. |
| anarco_rata05-07-05, 08:47 PM | Well, here in venezuela, i got the eberron CS last week, and i was one of the first ones, too |
| Knuckles05-08-05, 06:51 AM | Need I say that I am also from Bulgaria and I still haven't received my RoE preorder from Amazon? :D |
| Isran_Imrador05-08-05, 11:28 AM | We here in Norway (Trondheim) generaly get the new books 2-3 weeks after they hit the streets in U.S of A. Sometime we have to wait longer like for Sandstorm, in got inn with RoE and LoM. (almost 2 months..) Thats not a long wait but, would be great if it got shiped here in time for the U.S released so everyone could get the new books at the same time... |
| Franco Un-American05-09-05, 01:50 AM | Was British Columbia Canada completely forgotten when it came to shipments? I hope not. Heck no. I live up north in Prince George and when I went to pick up the book from Great White (the local gaming store), it was already sold out. Note that this occurred on the day that RoE was supposed to come out. In April. So no, at least the north of BC still has good book service. |
