| nevcoup11-11-04, 04:19 PM | I assume that the lack of posts about Sharn indicate that the sourcebook is not out yet. Any word? |
| Sucros11-11-04, 04:21 PM | My local store says tomorrow (the twelfth). They have it, but can't sell it untill then. I know that others who use different suppliers are selling them already. |
| nevcoup11-11-04, 04:37 PM | :) |
| SirLoin11-11-04, 06:58 PM | I got it I got it. nah nah nah nah nah! :P My local store has no inhibitions about selling it to me a day early. Very detailed info on a the sections of Sharn, and OMG...dare I say it... MAPS!!!! buildings, the city level by level, Morgrave University, etc... I just bought it like 3 hours ago, not much chance to read it yet, but it be looking good. Any questions? I open the bidding at $1 per question...heh, JK. It is a must have for any campaign in Sharn. |
| DO or DICE11-11-04, 08:34 PM | Looks great, we've got it in and I've had a glance at it, it'll be out on store shelves tomorrow. Really interested to hear what the CD sounds like, but probably won't get my own copy until next week. To many things to buy, to little wages... |
| stone_dog11-11-04, 08:58 PM | Looks great, we've got it in and I've had a glance at it, it'll be out on store shelves tomorrow. You better save one for me. I'll be in Saturday morning probably AT 10:00. ;) |
| Ch@pel11-11-04, 09:48 PM | You all stink. And so does Amazon. :( |
| thatedge11-11-04, 10:01 PM | My game store says they are not going to get it for another week or so (damn shipments to Australia taking so long) :waits: |
| sh011-11-04, 10:11 PM | I got mine! My FLGS was nice enough to bend the rules a bit, I guess it pays to be a good customer sometimes. |
| Ashrem Bayle11-12-04, 12:45 PM | My FLGS is supposed to be getting it today. I can get two books, one today and one a few weeks from now. So I'm torn between Sharn and Complete Arcane regarding what to get today. So can someone give me an quick review of Sharn? Which should I get? :help: |
| Alexius D'Cannith11-12-04, 01:16 PM | anyone know if it has hit the shelves in the uk yet, not that im envious of americans, (i just reflect on the not so nice things america has, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes above 4 on the richter scale) |
| Ashrem Bayle11-12-04, 03:16 PM | Got Sharn. Looks cool so far, but all I can do here at work is listen to the cd that comes with it. So far, it's pretty cool! |
| kntshade11-12-04, 03:35 PM | Got my copy! It's Friggin awesome!! Haven't gotten to look through it much as I was on my lunch break, but listening to the CD at work now... |
| Lujayne3411-12-04, 05:20 PM | I got Sharn. Yes I do! I got Sharn. How bout you?!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeee! *Does a happy dance* |
| MarkB11-12-04, 05:24 PM | anyone know if it has hit the shelves in the uk yet, My local store said end of this week. I'll be finding out tomorrow morning. If they've got it, I'll report back here. |
| shadowpavement11-12-04, 05:26 PM | And so does Amazon. :( Ditto to that chummer. I should just see if my local place has gotten it yet and cancel my order with amazon. I should support the local buisness anyway. |
| hiryuu11-12-04, 06:40 PM | I've got it. I like how it's much lighter on the crunch than such books normally are. |
| MarkB11-12-04, 06:45 PM | I just wish Amazon UK would at least list a price for the book. I don't mind spending the going rate at a local store if it would only be a few pounds cheaper from Amazon, but if I then find that Amazon UK have it at 2/3rds the price (as Amazon.com do), it's going to be rather annoying. |
| Save-vs-DM11-12-04, 06:47 PM | Just have it in my hot little hands, and loving it so far (also listening to the nifty CD). Just in time to run a promo game for the book tomorrow at one of my LFGS. Might have to use the Roach Thrall as a basis (what can I say, I think it's cool). Cheers, SvD |
| MarkB11-13-04, 07:03 AM | My local store said end of this week. I'll be finding out tomorrow morning. If they've got it, I'll report back here. No such luck. My nearest decent D&D store is Hidden Fortress in Southampton, and they're now expecting it for next Wednesday. |
| Magagumo11-13-04, 07:46 AM | It was approx $24 from Noble Night Games (online store)- I ordered it and Complete Arcane for a nice total of $51 (w/ shipping) on Thursday... hoping to see it next week. |
| Zalaz Mavi11-13-04, 09:51 AM | I'm enjoying the book so far. Although until I get a better grip on the geography of Sharn, I'm constantly flipping back and forth from the text to a map to refresh myself on where a particular district is located... As it stands right now, I only have a few minor criticisms: (1) the Day of Ashes is mentioned as a holiday, but the significance of the day isn't explained that I've found; (2) for a place rife with crime and corruption, the absence of Sharn-specific Rogue feats or prestige classes was conspicuous. The biggest praise I can offer is Sharn has put to rest my biggest apprehension toward the Eberron setting. After reading through the core setting book, I had this nagging feeling that any effort to fill in more detail would only ruin the setting. Happily, it was a misguided feeling... |
| Takasi11-13-04, 09:59 AM | (1) the Day of Ashes is mentioned as a holiday, but the significance of the day isn't explained that I've found It isn't a holiday, it's the anniversary of a Brelish military defeat. "On 3 Dravago 943 YK, Kellas engaged the Valenar raiders and suffered a devastating defeat." That was the "Day of Ashes". The rest of the text mentions nothing about it being celebrated. As a DM, you could use this as the campaign date if your PCs are meeting Dravago to add some flavor. |
| Josh Wilhoyte11-13-04, 10:01 AM | What is in it Crunchwise? Feats and Prestige Classes? Examples? |
| Zalaz Mavi11-13-04, 03:14 PM | It isn't a holiday... "Many people travel across Breland to join in Olladra's Feast or to pay their respects to the fallen on the Day of Ashes..." -Sharn: City of Towers, pg. 30 |
| Takasi11-13-04, 04:22 PM | It's described on page 41. It's the anniversary of a military defeat. |
| Von Ether11-13-04, 05:42 PM | Light on crunch, but you could run a whole campaign in this city and give the players something different every day. |
