With the anticipation of getting the Sharn book, I suddenly had the idea of a game in which the PC's are "super heroes" fighting crime in Sharn.

By day, Malin Vorn (female half-elf bard 7) is a mild-mannered clerk, by night she dons her cape and mask and uses her bardic abilities to stop crime as "Harmonia." With her magic mermaid-hilted rapier and skills in subterfuge, villains don't stand a chance.

Beek Gwenders (male gnome illusionist 5) may look like a bumbling gnome magewright, but in fact he is secretly Alchemo the Amazing! He combines cunning illusions and well-aimed tanglefoot bags to bring wrong-doers to justice.

Rusty (male-personality warforged fighter2/ranger3) may seem to be Beek's assistant at the shop, but when it comes to combat, "the Mithril Avenger" takes charge, speedily dispatching foes with his two-bladed sword.

What super-hero team would be complete without a "brain"? The kalashtar psion Giilik (level 6) uses her mind powers to root out evil (particularly agents of the Dreaming Dark) under the name of Mindstar.

Finally there is the mysterious "Darkling" (real name Fodo, male changeling rogue 4/soulknife 3), adept at infiltration and subterfuge.

Together they are the Towering Quintet!

I don't know how well it'd hold up to the seriousness of being a big campain, but
as a mini-campain or a beer-and-pretzels pickup game, it sounds like it'd be a lot of fun! And, of course, fun is what it's all about!

Now, on the off chance that you are thinking of doing it as a serious thing, I have a few ideas...

Sharn has a lot of noir style in it, which doesn't usually fit well with the classic "four-color" superheros style. But it could work if you make sure the characters have flaws and/or dark secrets or the like.

The "pulp" aspect of the setting would lend itself well to superheroics, though. You might also add an interesting element to the game if you take it in the direction of a social satire, as well, not unlike how Aberrant handles superheros...

The graphic novel "The Watchmen" handles superheros with darksides and noir imagry very well. Definitly something I'd check out. I bought a copy for my brother at Barnes and Noble so maybe you can find a copy there.

I was going to mention the Watchmen as well, but it entirely slipped my mind. Glad to see someone was more together than I was!

Yeah, I was thinking there were plenty of "noir" super heroes out there. Batman (in some incarnations) was part of my inspiration for this idea.

Maybe this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=282532&highlight=superheroes) could give some idea.
