Novel submission enquiry [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-04-04, 11:27 PM I couldn't find my old thread so I thought I'd ask here. Will Wizards of the Coast inform those who submitted in the "Open Call" if they didn't get it as well as informing the winner?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I agree on the etiquette responsibility. However don't be hard on yourself, I'm sure your idea is just as good as the other contenders. :)

08-05-04, 07:15 PM They sent out "sorry" notices to everyone who submitted to the Maiden of Pain open call. Most (if not all) were individually tailored to the submission, which impressed me greatly.

08-07-04, 09:15 PM Just remember the time it takes to get your submission in to Wizards. *nods* The deadline is for when they receive your submission, not for when it should be postmarked by.

Long story short - no I don't think it will make any difference that you're in Australia. Phil Athans (Managing Editor WotC) and Peter Archer (Director of Book Publishing WotC) are more than happy to correspond electronically and are very professional. Even when you ask dopey, rookie questions they make an effort to reply promptly and helpfully. Go for it, EJ!

Yes I did, but I didn't win the "good" brush-off letter. I'll try again with Eberron.

08-09-04, 12:05 AM I know of one person that did not recieve a rejection letter from MoP. I'm sure that was just an oversight rather than intentional however.

Good luck and get cracking the deadline is closer then you think.

Go to Australia Post and ask for international mail credits to the value of the return postage (about ten dollars Australian). Then just stuff them in. That's what I did for MoP; worked fine.
