| Valdren06-21-04, 02:00 PM | Just some Eberron inspired material, Enjoy. Crew of the Stormchaser Elshara d’Lyrandar (NG female half-elf sorcerer 4/dragonmark heir 3) Captain of the airship Stormchaser, Elshara has spent most of her young life traversing the skies of Eberron. Early in her career for House Lyrandar, Elshara’s father, the previous captain of the Stormchaser, disappeared during the final days of the Last War while delivering his cargo within the nation of Cyre, shortly before that nation’s destruction. Elshara determinately setoff into the blasted remains of what is now called the Mournlands in search of her father and the Stormchaser. After many harrowing escapes and brushes with death Elshara discovered the fate of her father and recovered the Stormchaser. Now Elshara and her crew perform cargo runs for House Lyrandar that span the entire continent of Khorvaire with occasional side trips to Xen’drik Herc (N male personality warforged fighter 7) Herc was among the earliest warforged to come off of House Cannith’s assembly lines, as a consequence, his body is larger and bulkier then most warforged. Herc’s unit served the nation of Cyre and he is a veteran of some of the bloodiest battles of the Last War. Herc is a pragmatist and not overly concerned with questions of morality, he is first and foremost a solider and most comfortable taking orders. It was during Elshara expedition into the Mournlands when she and her companions discovered Herc’s disabled body, which had lain dormant for 10 years half-buried in a battlefield. The artificer Filcor repaired him and he immediately accepted Elshara offer to function as her bodyguard. After the recovery of the Stormchaser Herc remained with Elshara and now serves as her firstmate aboard the airship. T’nyr (CN male changeling rogue 7) The changeling T’nyr looks for only three things in life; riches, women, and excitement, in that order. He is the consummate con-artist and takes great pleasure in spending other men’s money, wooing other men’s wives, and leading his victims on merry chases that almost always result from his actions. T’nyr always prefers to use deception and wordplay in his dealings with others, drawing his sword only as a last resort. T’nyr is the only son of a changeling crime lord in the city of Fairhaven, who is very disappointed in his son’s carefree and frivolous ways. He has standing orders for the capture of his son and is willing to spend much for his son’s return. Meanwhile T’nyr has gotten quite a bit of practice staying one step ahead of the bounty hunters. T’nyr and Elshara are sometimes business associates and sometimes lovers, Elshara makes good use T’nyr’s underworld contacts, while T’nyr enjoys the increased mobility the Stormchaser offers. Filcor Zurgo (CG male gnome artificer 4/cleric of Onatar 3) The artificer-priest Filcor Zurgo hails from the gnomish nation of Zilargo. He is the son of a famous shipwright from the city of Trolanport. In fact it was his father who originally designed and built the Stormchaser for House Lyrandar. When Elshara was organizing her expedition into the Mournlands to search for the airship, she requested a representative of the ships original builders to accompany her to help repair or salvage the ship. Filcor was sent by his father to answer that request. After the recovery of the Stormchaser, Filcor decided to remain as a member of the crew, partly because of the excitement of serving aboard an airship and partly because of a crush he has developed on Elshara. Stormchaser (air elemental-bound soarwood galleon) The Stormchaser is an airship of unique construction, built seventeen years ago in the drydocks of Trolanport at the behest of House Lyrander, her soarwood hull is sleek and designed for speed, as well as maneuverability, she is quite likely the fastest airship on Eberron (maximum speed of 30 miles an hour). She has a cargo capacity of 40 tons, room for 10-15 passengers, and requires a crew of 20. Part of the Stormchaser’s unique construction is the incorporation of 3 separately bound air elementals. Three rings of pure mithral encircle the ship, and each ring is studded with hundreds of Khyber shards which bind the air elementals to the vessel. To control this unique arrangement requires a wheel of wind and water, for trying to coordinate the motive power of three elementals is otherwise impossible. When in flight the three mithral rings crackle with electricity and a low constant hum drones, changing pitch as the airship maneuvers. Adventure Ideas --- The party is hired by the crime lord Kreelo of the city of Fairhaven to track down and capture his son T’nyr and bring him back alive. --- House Lyrandar has put out a call for adventures to travel to Xen’drik to collect Khyber Shards for the construction of another airship. When the Stormchaser delivers the party it is brought down by some mysterious agent. The players must investigate while prospecting for enough Khyber shards to repair the Stormchaser. --- An old war buddy of Herc’s has sent a message from the Mournlands, the [I]Stormchaser’s[I] crew hires on some additional muscle to answer the plea for help. --- Filcor Zurgo hires a party of adventurers to journey into the Mournlands to find replacement parts in the buried battle fields to repair a severely damaged Herc, parts that can only come from a warforged the same age as Herc. |

| Stormtalon06-21-04, 07:58 PM | Design of the ship sounds similar to one I've cooked up to introduce my group to Eberron. Mine, however (the Airship Dunrighben*), is one of the largest airships made, created just after the war ended. It's designed as a massive passenger vessel, and is powered by two rings with bound fire elementals. Crew of about 50, I'd say, plus 15 dedicated cooks & entertainers. It's a luxury airship, on its maiden voyage. The characters are all travelling first class, paid for by a mysterious sponsor in Sharn who wants to have them work for him. It'll never reach its destination. ClichŽ as all get out, I know. But still, I can't wait to have them crash and then have to hold out against a group of Emerald Claw agents who want something that was on the ship (and whose sabotage brought it down) until a rescue party arrives. Stormtalon *The name's an anagram of a historical airship. Anyone care to figure it out? :D |
| Captain One06-21-04, 09:06 PM | The Hindenburg, maybe?? ;) Yes, the story is very cliche... but that is what usually gets players hooked. As long as you add surprises on to that, you'll have a great adventure! The roots of every movie made today are very cliche... it's how you make that cliche interesting that gets attention! By the way... very fitting the ship being powered by fire elementals!! |
