A lot of what I was hoping they'd preview isn't here (the Breed, more elemental stuff, etc) but what's there is enough to keep people going for the week or so before it hits shelves.

There's info on elemental binding, dragon totem rituals, a new race (the daelkyr half-blood, which I'm assuming is the Breed), info on the psiforged (a warforged variant), a psionic version of the artificer, and eight (yes, eight) prestige classes. Last but not least, there's a ton of new spells, plus the prerequisite monsters and such.

That was exciting. I'm really really looking forward to the book now. I'm also guessing that the daelkyr half-blood is the breed, as it's the only new race he mentioned.

The book seems like it's going to be a home-run for WotC unless they really messed something up. I'm very excited about this book.

See now you went and jinxed it. It's going to have typos galore, call warforged robots and act like there's only one moon. ;)

::knock on wood::Don't forget that they're going to say that the Kalashtar don't have a sense of taste unless they get this special psionic item that lets them do it! :P

I just posted this in the MoE thread in the Magic boards...but here's a little more info from the book for you guys :)

DRAGON PROPHETS IN THE WORLD
"No one knows everything. No one understands everything. But there's no
harm in trying."--Yesrin Lieng, dragon prophet

The dragon prophet prestige class enables you to have the most fascinating creatures in D&D--the dragons--play a pivotal role in a campaign. Dragon prophet characters can set out on countless adventures in search of clues to the Prophecy, and can be used to introduce all manner of villains
interested in discerning the mysteries of the Prophecy for their own ends.

Organization
Dragon prophets do not affiliate with one another for the most part. Driven not only by their own unique motivations but by their dragon mentors' agendas, dragon prophets are extremely complex characters. Because they have no set organization, no single prophet claims leadership over
others. However, the relationship between prophets and their mentors changes the prophets, making them a little more like their mentors each day.

Each mentor treats its prophet in a different manner, however. Evil dragons tend to think of their prophets as property--a useful and active extension of their hoard. Most prophets willing to deal with evil dragons accept a de facto role as their mentors' slaves, and some become slave owners themselves in mimicry of this relationship. Good dragons, on the other hand, tend to see prophets as useful (albeit inferior) partners. These dragons expect just as much from their prophets as any evil dragons, but are more forgiving of failures.

Dragon prophets are, without exception, adventurers. They seek out signs of the Prophecy wherever they go, sending word to their mentors whenever they fi nd an important piece of information. A dragon prophet might spend months or even years at a single place engaged in research, but she is always ready to pack up in pursuit of the next clue. As a result, nearly all prophets are solitary individuals,
though rumors of a few who have established romantic relationships with their dragon mentors persist.

Well, there's a couple of small typos in the excerpt already. The persistent harrier is statted at 2 HD, but the description seems to assume that it starts at 1 HD (when describing how much it costs to add another HD, perhaps leaving one wondering if it costs 1250 gp for a 1 HD version or a 2 HD version), then the advancement line starts at 4 HD, skipping 3. No big deal at all in terms of playability, but it makes one wonder how much cleaning up we'll have to do to use the rest of it. Hopefully not much. But I guess that's what the errata thread is for.
All in all, however it looks good so far to me.

Every single cover has been actiony like that. I don't see why it's laugh out loud funny.

Yup. Unlike the covers of Eberron Campaign Setting, Sharn: City of Towers, Races of Eberron, Five Nations, Explorer's Handbook, Shadows of the Last War, Whispers of the Vampire's Blade, and Grasp of the Emerald Claw, the cover of Magic of Eberron seems to include action. Ridicilous! WotC, why couldn't you keep the cover consistent with the rest of the line?

I don't know, looking at the little picture, there does seem to be a character wielding what looks to be lightsabers. Man, that'll rock. Lightsabers for Eberron. Sign me up! ;)

And with those words, it seems your so called 'joke' shall forever be lost to many. If anyone does read that entire thread and figures it out, post the actual meat of what's so funny here, please.

Sign me up! ;)1) No there isn't, thats Reynold's signature Warforge Wizard. He's in all of Reynold's Eberron spread art. He carries a wand/staff with several large glowing crystals on it (other cover art seems to imply that its a wand of Magic Missle). Its not a light saber, its a wand with glowy crystals as seen from the side.

2) As for lightsabers, they've been in D&D for a long time.
Look up the Brilliant Energy weapon enchantment. Now put it on a longsword. Boom, looks just like a lightsaber. Want Darth Maul's double light saber? Enchant a quarterstaff with Brilliant Energy on both ends.

It's a bit difficult to tell, given the size of the image in the preview, but that looks like the guy on the cover of 5N to me. His sword is somewhat glowy on that cover, but not quite as much as it appears to be in this image.

Oh, okay, I didn't see him. I thought those were just more bolts from the WF's wand.

Yeah, they do look glowy. Can still be just plain Brilliant Energy weapons.
Or, there's the fact that there's a 30% chance that ANY magical weapon sheds light like a torch, it could be equally likely that the things are just a +1 longsword and a +1 shortsword that both happen to glow.

Or it could be that it doesn't matter and Wayne Reynolds just thought it looked cool, and doesn't care about weather or not the stuff he draws exist or not.

It doesn't, and it does, respectively.

Seriously, I know they're not lightsabers, and I'm well aware of the brilliant energy quality, though with its +4 bonus price finding someone who can enchant a weapon with a +5 bonus in Eberron should be a tall order. Besides, the brilliant energy quality is not the same as a lightsaber, since I know that lightsabers would do quite well in slicing through a construct or any other solid, non-living object. Of course, they could just be glowing swords, and that's cool too. But the last thing I want to say is that if anyone thought I was serious about thinking that those were lightsabers either ignored my ;) , doesn't have much of a sense of humor themselves, is so tired of people who are clueless that he/she can no longer distinguish between jokes and ignorance, or was victim to my occassionally unclear communications. Oh well. I'll blame it on me.

(And I realize that the real problem is that the picture on the web page is too dang small to get a good sense of any details. Can't wait to see the real thing, and I'm sure that in the book it will be quite obvious that those weapons are not lightsabers!)

I don't think the comparison Brillant energy=lightsaber hold too well.
Lightsabers works against droids and inanimate objects.

Beside I don't think Brillant energy would be too used in Eberron, there are too many constructs and undeads going around in and out the battlefield for them to be really useful.

This discussion does beg the question though:

what the hell is the warforged holding in this?

The most common opinion is that the 'Forged is holding Brilliant Energy Quarterstaff.

And the other thing should be a Wand Sheath of some sort.

Either a brilliant energy quarterstaff or a brilliant energy two-bladed sword. The handle would suggest the sword, and a close look at the "blades" says to me that this isn't just a glowing weapon.

what the hell is the warforged holding in this?

http://www.waynereynolds.com/WOTCGallery2A/2.jpgOne hand has a Wand Sheath with some artistic liscense taken to it (look at the end, you can still see fingers). The other hand is a Brilliant Energy Quarterstaff, or just a glowy magical quarterstaff with both heads enchanted. I don't think its a 2-bladed sword for two reasons. One, it has no hilt guards on either side, which would be bad for your hands. Two, if you look closely, there seems to be leather wrappings going out from the middle of the thing out over the glowing sections. Making me think its the grip wrappings for a quarterstaff.

The one thing I am hoping now after seeing the art gallery is that the Renegade Mastermaker shown here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/hq/poly10a) is for any race and not just for House Cannith.
