I don't have any books on hand as this crosses my mind, so thus I am asking...

Activating a dragonmarks power is a (standard action, free action, etc?) and does or does not provoke attack of opportunity?

I'm thinking is does, depending on how its used. If my mark allowed me to heal and I used in on myself, I'd almost think I could simply activate it for the healign to take effect, but...if I were to heal another next to me, I'd have to reach over and expose myself.

Second question, with all the wierd things warforged can, and cannot do. Can they contract lycanthropy?

We are playing EtCR and it poses a few interesting twists on Eberron. One, our Paladin of the Holy Flame is very troubled to see what he believes to be werewolves..believing them to be extinct. I have yet to decide if I will turn the world on end by having them return, or perhaps make them weretouched masters... the second half obviously falls into who can get lycanthropy if it has returned.

Thanks

Dragonmarks are spell-like abilities, so always provoke attacks of opportunity, and require a standard action to use.

The rules for finding out what warforged can do, follow the golden rule:
-Unless it is covered by the mechanics, warforged work the same way as any other PC.
For example, since it doesn't say they don't in the warforged racial entry, warforged possess all five senses at normal human levels (confirmed in the Dragonshard article).
You also have to remember that warforged are both constructs and living creatures. Check effects to see if they affect constructs or not, or if they affect living creatures or not. In the case of lycanthropy, the template can only be applied to humanoids and giants, so warforged, being constructs, cannot contract the disease.

Oh, and werewolves aren't extinct on Eberron, just very, very rare.

Warforged are "living constructs". The type construct can't get the lycantropic template...wich is logic. I don't perfectly remember, but I think warforged are immune to deseases, and lycantropie is one. Once again, i'm not sure 100%.

Yes, warforged are immune to diseases (as well as poisons, sleep effects, paralysis, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, sickened, and energy drain).

Curse of Lycantrophy only affects creatures with the humanoid or giant type. So even if warforges could be affected by diseases, Curse of Lycantrophy wouldn't affect them anyway (since they are Living Constructs).

Ah thanks. Like I mentioned, not having any books with me, odd they won't let me bring them to work, I wasn't sure where things stood.

I wasn't positive with them being "living" if that was part of the deal. Then again, I half argue that they are considered living anyway, they seem more like sentient constructs is more correct. But, that's just me.

But, for the interesting aspect of it, seeing as lycanthropes "gear" seems to meld with them on shifting, I'd be curious to to see what lycanthropy would produce in a worforged.

The idea of a warforged lycanthrope turning into a Were-toaster or Were-dishwasher has some definite role-playing possibilities. ;)

No, because then some intrepid player will make one that turns in to a were-airship and names him Starscream.

Impossible actually, you have to be within one size category of the animal to contract lycanthropy. Thats why halflings and gnomes can't become were-tigers or were-bears.

Could be a small Airship :) Or maybe an Air-Dingy :D

An Air-Dingy :D

Then you would lose the novelty of the moment.

I've never understood this. I do in theory, but its cool to get lycanthropy as a halfling and mutate into a huge bear. Can humans not become were rats in the reverse?

Personally a worforged mutating into an almost splotchy armor plated werewolf, esp if it were a worforged jauggernaut, with spikes, would be very interesting to deal with....

I had never heard the size limit thing before, but sure enough its there. Humans can become wererats because wererats animal form is a dire rat, which is small and falls within the one size limit.

Of course they can, why couldn't they? Small (the size of dire rats) is only one step away from medium (the size of humans).
