ksbsnowowl 06-29-06, 08:01 PM	I remember reading a thread about a year or so ago in which one of the posters was rationalizing including Nimblewrights (MMII) into the Eberron setting, and someone suggested making a "rogue" nimblewright as a BBEG running a spy/terrorist network. The basic premise was that the Nimblewright had been constructed in the last year or so of the Last War, in a country other than Breland, and had been given orders to bring about the fall of Breland. The creator then died, and the Nimblewright continues in its task, despite the ending of the Last War. Does anyone remember this thread? I've searched via google, and could not find it. At the very least, could someone more knowledgable of Last War politics suggest which country would be a good "homeland" for the determined and persistent construct?

Edymnion 06-30-06, 05:18 PM	Nope, I don't remember it. Its doubtful it would still be around after a year of being buried, as there has been more than one prune since then. And while I'd make the admonishment that the Nimblewright is sentient and would not have to follow orders blindly, it could have it's own reasons for wanting to do it. Anywho, I'd probably say Karnnath. They were Breland's biggest opponent, and it could be made reasonable, without too much of a stretch, that by the end of the war Kaius, who was already mad at the BoV, had commissioned research into non-undead disposable troops similar to the warforged to fight with, to end Karnnath's dependance on the BoV. The results were Nimblewrights, but they proved to be too expensive and too time consuming to create to ever be a viable replacement for the undead/warforged, and so the project was terminated at the end of the War.
Naudachu 06-30-06, 05:39 PM	Actually I've been wanting to use the Nimblewright for awhile now. To me it looks like a construct based more on elven physique. So I was planning on making it an early Giant creation modeled after their slave race, the elves. And/or the elves could have either created it themselves, adapting the Giant technology of warforged creation, or stolen the designs from the Giants. I was inspired by the Dungeon adventure based in Frostfell(?) where a Nimblewright is discovered frozen in the ice. This could be a relic of a Giant and/or ancient elven outpost (taer?). I assume at least a few Giants got the wanderlust bug and trapsed around the globe either before or as their civilization was ending. The idea for a Karnnath nimblewright is interesting. Maybe it was buried in one of Karrnath's necro-arsenals (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebsi/20051114a). Or, going with the elven creation idea, maybe it was loosed by a band of Valenar, either accidently during the Mourning or recently as test runs. I guess they would have to believe it held the spirit of an ancestor somehow.
Korhal_IV 06-30-06, 05:45 PM	The arcane effort involved in making a Nimblewright seems to point straight at Aundair to me. Aundair is also still hungry for conquest, so it makes more sense than others. :)
allenchan 06-30-06, 08:01 PM	I used a Nimblewright in my own campaign awhile back (actually had it in an old Sarlonan crypt in Lhazaar). Personally, I ran that as ancient relics that were powered by elementals in dragonshards. They were, in a way, the great-grand fathers of modern day Warforged. And while they intelligence it was limited, and they weren't truly "free" and "alive" like warforged are.
