Count Nerindil Van Seraph 02-12-06, 07:39 PM	I'm sitting here, watching the games, and it struck me that the Olympics make alot of sense in Eberron. The war has just ended, and there is alot of ill will between the people of Khoravare. The leaders need a way to build fellowship, and what better way to foster peace than putting century old foes next to each other in a competitive environment? Right? Okey, so you can see were problems might arise. But still, this only makes the situation better for adventurers. Perhaps they are hired as trouble shooters to make sure nothing bad happens. Maybe something bad has happened. Ex: The torso of a favorate athlete turns up. Who did it? An organised crime syndicate with money on the game? Perhaps an assassin hired by a representative of one of the opposing nations? Maybe the Lords of Dust just think the triathelon is boring! Also, were would the games be held? Depending on the actual size of the island, Thronehold could be good, as it is neutral ground. What kind of games would there be? Would arena battles against monsters be kosher, or is that to uncivilised? Would all the events be athletic? How about some of the magical competitons from the CA (can't think of names or specifics off the top of my head)? So, yeah, just me pouring out my unorganized and misspelled ideas. Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Sentance fragments? The Count :dragon:
DwarfPcfan 02-13-06, 11:16 AM	The olympic background idea for an adventure is great. I like you're dead athlete idea particularly. My suggestion, if I had to choose a city, It would be Korth. As Karnath has a long and noble warrior tradition ( despite all that stuff with the undead), hence sportive tradition, it would make sense. Plus every player and Dm knows that ol Kaius is making friendly ouvertures to just about every country in other to forge alliances , and see his own position secure till he's ready to whoop everybody and become king of Galifar ( that last part few people in Eberron know). Perhaps, he organizes the games in an effort to facilitate relations between nations. Seeing as how only recongnized nations under the threaty of Thronehold would be allowed to join, you could cause terrorisms from Droaam as other plot twist. Plus there's always the question of Cyrans since there country is pretty much dead and the remaining cyrans are technically citizens of other countries... As for events here a few suggestions: - Archery ( Valenar and Thrane would figure prominently ) - Wrestling ( Mror dwarves and warforged would truly excel) - Fencing ( Aundair and breland, need I say more) - Racing - Horsemanship - Canoeing ( Qbarra) I'm sure you've got plenty of other ideas As for plot ideas here are a few suggestions) - Droaam, Shadow Marches want in/ use event to try and be officially recongnized - Cyrans are not admitted, terrorism ensues - Aerenal or perhaps for an even more sinister edge Riedra sends emmissaries asking for admitance in the games, negotiations must be protected from emerald claw terrorists. - New drug hits the streets and falls into the hands of star athletes - Emissaries get murdered, nough said Cheers !!! Looking at something like a cross country race, the 'forged could just run flat-out for days. New drug hits the streets and falls into the hands of star athletes Or or investigating use of illegal transmutation magic!
