Ok, for those of you have not read my other thread about my campaign entitled "Valanar Campaign"; I will do a little recapping of the story line so far.

Well, the campaign started of in the country of Valanar on the along the coast near the Dagger desert. The time is just over a year or so from the end of the war and the Treaty of Thronehold. At the Coast of Valanar near the ruins of Taer Zanathar is where I placed the city of Saltmarah from DMG2. I had had to change a few things around in the city to fit one the Eberron setting and two the needs of my campaign. Things like the Gods the temples and Cathedrals were dedicated to and the leader ship of the town. But most of the stuff I left as is, the only other things were to place an airship dock in on the island and later move the location of the vampire because my PCs know to much out of character knowledge about the town.

The campaign started with the PCs arriving in Saltmarsh and heading to the Tinkers Guild House to check in with the head of the Cannith House there. The Party was made up of three then, a male noble of the House Cannith, A human female friend of the noble who acted as assistant to him. Their bodyguard a warforged, who is a Soul knife. The party was a little weird the Female turned out to be half air elemental and the warforged had a little devil blood mixed in to his alchemical parts giving him some spell-like abilities and Telepathy at will. The noble, being just a normal human with the Least Mark of Making being the only straight man of the group.

The Party came under control of the Baroness Aleace d'Cannith, an up and coming person in the now fractured House of Cannith. She was trying to set up her own base of power fin the south of what was Cyre, now Valanar, after the Day of Morning. She has the party head out in to the desert of Valanar to see what is happening to caravans that are leaving Saltmarsh for new House Cannith holds in the desert. So getting some money from her, then buying supplies and hiring a guide, a Half-Elf name Merv they headed out. After a few days of nothing they come across the remains of one of the caravans, after searching it and finding one body and so spoiled supplies the are met by a party of Valanar Soldiers that demand to know why the House is working with the Cyrans to set up bases in the Valanar. (That hole no one wants the Cyrans but Breland) The party talks their way out of a fight and is told to go back to Saltmarsh and tell the others that the High King of Valanar will not take Cyrans trying to set up a new homeland in the Western part of Valanar.

Well, The party did get back to Saltmarsh but not before encountering more Elves. This time the Encounter was a remains of a war band sent to recruit Raptorans to form a new air attack group to fight along side the Elven army. They offered to help the war band to get back to the nearest Elven settlement, which is at Stonefeather Spire. There they got to meet the Elven Warlord that controlled the area around Saltmarsh. Here things went bad for the party, things were said, and the Elven Warlord a man with a short temper tried to subdue the Party and a few of the war band and raptorans that were now standing with the party. Long story short, they party fought their way out of the spire, losing five NPCs on the way. Carrying two fallen allies they stole an Airship that had been unguarded and made their way back to Saltmarsh to warn the house and the town of the danger. As they flow back they passed over and army that had already be sent to crush and resistance to Elven rule at Saltmarsh.

The Battle of Saltmarsh.
The party was left to see to the defenses of the city as the army there went out to meet the Valanar army in battle. They spent a lot of time and effort getting the towns folk to help set up defenses and prepare the town. With only 300 warforged, 200 town guards and about 900 towns folk willing to fight the set about making the town a fortress. As they did so they found more allies about 400 hobgoblins 18 lizard folk and 200 goblins. On about the second day there was a raid by kobolds and Elves that put fire to many parts of the town. After beating that back and dealing with the fires they had to deal with the new threat blockading navel of mercenaries that was sitting out side the bay stopping any who wanted to leave from leaving.

The party recruited the lizard folk and set about with dealing with the fleet. This Fleet, which was made up of two groups one of humans and one of dwarfs, was dealt with fast. They had the lizard folk place Black disk on the hulls of the human fleet and then started negotiations with the smaller dwarf fleet. To make the point that war against the town was a bad idea and investment they had 12 ship destroyed. This act got them the result they wanted the Dwarf fleet pulled out.

But as always there was already some new threat to the city the human mercenaries had set up siege engines at the ruins of Taer Zanathar just out side the walls of Saltmarsh. So the Party now had to lead a land force to fight of that raiding party and save the town once more. It was a bloody fight but they brought the right people, Forged and Hobgoblins, and they won. The next day the remains of the force from the Cyran Army returned. Their luck was not so good. For a force that out numbered the Elves three to one, they had done well at the start of the battle but end the day in a rout back to Saltmarsh for a last stand.

I then ordered the party, which had grown to Five PCs and many NPCs the new crew of the Airship to Sharn to face the Baron Merrix d'Cannith and explain their actions at Saltmarsh. When they got there they learn that The Baroness Aleace had be outcast from the House by Merrix for her bid for power and working to closely with the Cyran government during the war. They were given the chance to join her in outlaw status of swear oaths to Merrix and House Cannith that they would do as he said and stay out of politics. They did being go House Cannith folk.

The players then split up for a year to do some personal things in Sharn and other cities. The Nobles went to the Mimic Manahan in Sharn at request of Merrix to "learn some new skills". The Half air elemental joined a group of Daggerspell mages that a NPC lead and went of with him to have the ship refitted by the Gnomes. The Raptoran went home to complete the walk of the winds and there he got a really nice old foot bow. And the Warforged stayed in Sharn making contacts for finding items that will help him become a better killer.

Now they are all coming back to Sharn to meet up and head out on the Airship once more, but this time by Merrix orders. And yeas I changed the ship around for them because they wanted so stuff added to it. And I gave them a somewhat new crew too.

I never liked the idea of putting all the campaign i on thread , maybe on forum but not one thread. It is hard to find all the feed back on one own campaign without having to read through all the post on all the other campaign posted in the same thread. So I say no to you telling me or other to put out campaign in that thread, to be mixed with all the other like some sort heep of junk.

I mean if you want people to post a short description of their campaign and a links to their thread talking about their campaign ideas that would not be a bad idea, but all campaign in one thread that is.

Largely it's the fact that it's meant to create a general place for everyone who likes and wants to discuss indepth forum material about specific campaigns and also exchange large amounts of ideas about the nature of home brew campaigns.

Effectively, a place where forumgoers can go that they know they'll be answered and have expert advice.

The forums are cluttered with everyone constantly posting about their campaigns and largely recieving no answers while others complain about the glut.

It seems the best solution for all is to create a mini-community on the forums.

There's also the "Find" button if you want to find your relevant info

Edit- Nice campaign though.

I still think it would be easier to jut ithe Thread button at the top of the forum and put all the titles in alphabetical order and then look for the title of the thread of the campaigns I like to read about. The "Find" button only works on the one page that you are looking at and your theard is already at two and moving up.

But, anyways I dont want to talk about you thread I want to input about mine.

So the party is come back together in Sharn, the City of Towers, and the question is what do I have them do now. I mean They have their own Airship that just got refitted and recrewed. I was going to have them work for the house Cannith and Merrix. Merrix is all about helping the warforged fit in and making them better. So I was thnking of having them go to Xen'ddrik to look for lost Warforged stuff. But I have no idea what to have them look for, so any ideas on that would help.

I was going to have them start next time by sending half the party to the Glitterdust nightclub in Sharn to back contact with so explorers there and get some info for merrrix and them have im send them out to look for something. and I was going to have the Other half ho to the lower class clubs looking for rumors there. Half the party being alittle rough around the edges and the other being more high class.

This is just the link to my old thread about ther first half of the campaign in Valanar: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=455410

Personally, I find it rude to point everyone who opens a thread to discuss their campaign, or to ask questions, to some other thread. I have to say, Charles, for the most part I respect your posts as being rational, logical, and well-thought-out, however it is annoying me to no end to see you constantly referring people to some other thread to find answers to questions that they already created a thread for.

The problems with threads like the one that you are pointing out is that they quickly get too big, and then you have to read through pages of garbage to find the information that you're looking for. If you want to create an archive thread where you can post campaign specific questions and answers, please go ahead... it would be a great thing to have. However, I think that if someone takes the time to post a question in a new thread, they deserve to be answered in their own thread.

That said... I will stop userping this thread for unrelated information.

My appologies.

Thank you for that and dont worry about the appologies , it is always nice to hear someone agree with you.

I don't know about others out ther but I mainly do these threads for my self to see where my campaign has been and may go. and the input from people always helps, point out plot whole and such.

Thank you for that and dont worry about the appologies , it is always nice to hear someone agree with you.

To be blunt, I don't think there's been a single indepth thread on any topics or campaigning since this board began save one or two. My thread was my hope that there might be a place where campaigners could discuss their plots long term and develop perhaps even a fanbase and help each other.

All we get in these other threads is

"Hmm...nice campaign. Why don't you do X and X" with no real indepth discussion. It's my hope a huge thread will create an indepth discussion and several people interested in helping other people's campaigns.

You can say it's rude and not, but I wanted to make a place for the community given there's a glut of campaign specific threads on the board and no one place to discuss them.

I agree with your sentiment but a thread is just not the answer. I am more inclined to agree that there is a forum for that already in the "What is a DM to do?" But having said that I also agree that I prefer to come to an Eberron specific environment. I don't need to get advice from folks that don't have any understanding of the world of Eberron.

So we are back where we began... Oh well. Just my .02

A thought I just had, what should I do about the Elven warlord. He was made to look like a fool, letting the party escape from Stonefeather like that. It has been a year sence the the Battle of Saltmarsh and about time for him to get some pay back.

I was thinking of sending a large war band on a kill the all hunt for the party. You know, as maybe a ramdom emcounter for the party in Xen'driks while looking for artifacts for Merrix d'Cannith.

There was this hole thing, that I had left out of the first post, about how when the party stole the ship in the hold were a few things that belong to the Warlord. Things like his best horse that had ben mad in to a magic item, An ancesteral sword that had intellegants, a family helm and one of his spelll books. I mean he got it back in Sharn, but it was through Merrix's and the Cyrans at New Cyre that this happen. there was a little problem at the exstange having to do with a flock of fiendish hawks coming out of no where and flight off with the stuff. All thanks to the Warforged Soul Knife of the party. And yes they got away with this too.

Do you think the Elven warlord Would Hate them enough to send assassins?
Or has he lost too much face / honor in his Clan to still be Leader?

As for things they can do in Sharn for Merrix and House Cannith.
1. Merrix wants too meet a reforged and the characters are to help persuade one to come.
2. There is a rumor of a Ghost Warforged haunting one of the old Creation Forge in Karrnath in the Ashen Spires hidden Cannith Stronghold.
3. Merrix wants the characters look into a batch of Special Warforged that were being shipped through Cyre on the day of Morning They were made of Living Steel.
4. Xen' Drik The lost land of giants there is a rumor about Warforged shapped like lions protecting an inert Giant warforged With four legs a Cannith expedition is looking for someone to transport them secretly.

Edit was to fix persuade =(

As for the warlord I left him in power over his war band. I did this because although the party made him loss much face at their escape and tthe few victories they had over his merrceary forceshe still got his job done. His job was to wipe out the Cyran Forces in the west of Valanar before the war ended, which he did do. It just cost him more gold them he wanted to spend.I mean he had to fork over some money for the loss of the Airshi, bu tno the hole cost. ( I had him put much of the blame on the Lyrandar Caption that left it unpretected.) He also had to pay for part of he fleet that was lost in teh navel encouter. But he was able to take Saltmarsh intack, because after the defeat of the Army The Prince Oargev ir' Wynarn was able to work out a treaty that saved the peope. In other word the city was lost to Valanar and the Elves are going to tax the hell out of it to make up the losses. This also means that the Warlord may have gained more power, now ruling ove Stonefeather and Saltmarsh with out depleating his own elven forces.

1) Merrix wants to meet re forged, where did you see this hook I like it.

2) Don't want to deal with undead right now. I tried my hand a a miner vampire to help th estory line of the main vampire in Saltmarsh and my players hated the way I did it.

3) I was thinking of sending them to the Mournland but they need to level up some first. I have them scared of it.

4)Xen'drik is the place a few of my player want to go for forged items but I have to read up on the the land and do some thinking about how I see it
Thanks for the input

Merrix is always on the look out for Warforged that are trying to be more alive from my understanding he also collects Warforged art and poetry.

As for the Ghost it is not really a ghost but a prototype Warforged designed for espionage. It can cloak at will and move silently, spider climb, etc…
The people who were in charge of that project were in the Cyre when the event happened and the project was Suppose to be terminated but because it is an Espionage model it escaped.

Charles Phipps wanted to now what was the driving force behind the party. He said the seemed to be just floating to him. And he also asking about the relation between the party and the Cyrean political stucture in the campaign. All good questions.

Well first the Party is floating a bit but what part that is mostly chaotic does not float abit. the only thing that holds them to the story inline I am tring to setup is the fact that most come in some way from house Cannith. One being and up and coming noble, another being a bodyguard for him and the other a close freind who's parents work for the house but don't hold the name. They are litely into the polotics of the House taking sides with this baron or that. the origional story line had the noble parent closely tired to te baroness in Saltmarsh. But with her being castout and the character not wanting to share the fate, the party falls in with the Merrix group in Sharn.

As for the Cyrans the party only was doing what they were told by the Baroness, in the helping with the defence of the town. They may have gotten a little more into the polotics then they should have, but they where able to talk their way free of the trouble that brought. The leader of the party is on hell of a talker in character. (So unlike is true self.)

As for the leader or the army that was in Saltmarsh Well he did not mack it thourgh the battle with the Elves and the Town's leadership is gone back to the way it is in the DMG2, exsept for the fact that the Warlord now hold power all. This means any Cyran that did not leave wen the getting was go is now one of the human that the EC taks about, now living under the rule of elves that care not for farming.

Ok I have beenthinking about this campaign all weekend now, and I ee now that there are many problems that have come to light, now that the party has left Saltmarsh and move in to Sharn for the time being.

The first being that I don't really have an idea of where to go with the game right now. I mean I set them up working for Merrix, doing work for a group of daggerspells or just letting them go off in to the vast land of Eberrron to make their own way. Th e thing is I dont' want the game to turn in to a go here find this and bring it back to me game. those game get old so fast. I need a real good hook to get the part on course again.

The second problem is that two of my players are moving away. This means that the party goes from five back down to three. The good thing is that the two that are moving away are the two pplayers I added later in the campaign, leaving me the origional three. But this mean that I have to work harder to keep the three in line now.

The other problem is that I think that I let the party level to fast. I went easy on them in more then one fight and maybe even let them get away once to often. I also let them get rich fast, this was the problem the first time I ran an Eberron game, and it lead to me putting a stop to th ehole game.

I guess I am saying that I need help in coming up with a goo dstory hook that will pan out for the next month or so. And than hook has to have elements thet may help me kneecap the party alittle. I was thinking of saying that most of the party's money is now tied up in the Fire squal, their airship, and that Even though the leader is a hopuse favorate, Merrix wqill not just give him money.

The Glitterdust Nightclub has become a hang out for the party in my campaign. They first went there at looking for a for a good time and information on the lands being explored. It has become a good place for me to add in new NPCs and the like. They have meet a number of other crews of other airships there. I as so find it a good way to control the wealth of the party. Because the fact is I tend to give them a little more then I should. So when ever they start to get a little to rich for my taste I wait for them to head to the Glitterdust and milk them for a good amount. THe last first time they went I got the Noble in the party to buy a drink for a old family friend which turned into a bottle of wine costing 2000gp.

The thing I was wondering was if anyone else uses the nightclub as a base of operations for the party, and if so what sort of NPCs , info, and adventures that your PCs find there.

One other thing I did was to send the last three PCs to see Flamewing, the Sphinx. I had her talk to the party to open up some possible plot lines for the future. Has anyone else done this and if so what ws it she said to your party and how did it play out.

Flamewing to the party:

Looking tord the nobles ,"As the winds of war die , the winds of the south take their place"

Looking tord te theif, "Hiden death rules the lands of your ancesters, and the Blood will flow from it." ( Then looking right at the theif character sayes. ) "Stay off the roof."

Looking tord the warforged, "Through the mist the truth will be found, under the towers it hides awaiting the keys of time to unlook secerts known."

The plot line of the campaign has turned into this, the PCs are working Merrix d'Cannith and he has sent them to work with Breland navy to stop Pirates of the coast. They are not to do the fighting only to give support to any warforged soldiors and equipment that needs an artificer. But as we all know that this on't happen and they will et into the fight. A subplot is that the reason that Merrix d'Cannith has put them in a position to find warforged artifacts for him.

The crew of the Fire Squal will be workig with the Breland navy and army, as well with other privately own Airships or Elemental bound ships.

Well after hanging out around the city for about two weeks longer then they should have the party has left Sharn and headed in to Droaam to find and fight pieates with the Breland army.

They found a ouver turned ship in the large bay that runs north to south in Droaam. On it was 9 peole who had lived throught an attack buring the early morning hours. The ship which was comming back from Xen'driks to Thrane had be blown of course by a large storm and then attacked by iron cracons which left the ship over turned. On the the ship in one of the holds still in tacked the party found a large shipment of dragonshards, machine parts, seeds from Xen'driks, the corps of a warforged made of a strange metal, and a strange alcemical liquiad.

Through questioning the officer of the Thrane ship they track the attackers to an island on the coast. There they found an army of Gnoll Giants, and Goblions running a small fleet of ships, in cludding one airship, out of a fortress on the island. There scout exspored the grounds of the fortress, finding about 300 gobllins, 100 gnolls and 3-5 hill giants. As a start to asulting the island the Daggerspell mage tried to posion the well. But to her supprize the well was dry and the entrence to a cave, where she found the steel krakens and the store rooms where many of the goods that are taken from ships. then She charmed the four krakens that where there with charm monster being almost captured herself doing this. She also discovered through a captured goblin under charm that there where slaves from ship taken by the pirates.

They then came up with a battle plan thatwould in valve a three pron attack. The plan starts with the Daggerspell mage would lead in other rogues to steal the airship and mining west walll's towers with Black disk. While this was going on the Noble would come in on their skiff with 6 others and attack the the main keep, where the brotherhood of the gnolls is staying, and work their way down to the slaves held in the lower levels. The final prog would be the soul knife leading the warforged forces through the under sea caves that the cracons use to come and go to attack the cave system. The Fire squal would then land the remaining Breland troops for back up.

The Battle is to take place latter next week and I need a little help with ideas for it. Like I still need a good leader for the army of the Gnolls and goblins. Maybe some good spell to use against the party, would also be a big help too.

Ok in my campaign my players are 7th level and own their own airship. whihe they are using to help the Breland army fight pirates out of Droaam. They have there crew of 40 and 40 Breland soldiers. They have found one of the bases the prates are working out of, an island fortress with a harboer with five captured ships and a cave network under it where the treasure is keeped. This cave network is also the under sea port of the Steel cracons they uses to get ship at sea. The fortress is maned by any monsteress army of mostly goblins and Gnolls. ( 450 goblin warrors, 150 2nd level gnoll barbarans, 3 hill giant, 1-3 ogre mage, 10-20 5level gnolls, and the main leader)

The fortress is a double walled fort with the inner wall protecting the home of the main leader, who is not often seen by his troops. The outer wall is watched by goblin ballista teams and troops walling the wall. the inner wall is guraded by gnolls and the house with in it is home to the leader and only exesable to the higher level gnolls and Ogre mage. The Entrence to the underground harbor is a dry well. this too is patrolled by gnolls. The goblins are litely equiped and left to patrol the outer wall and island. Also to run a light house an the nouth end of the island and a watch tower an the west end.The ships in the harbor are in a state of disrepair and left unmaned.
There is also a small airship run by the gnolls that can carry 25 troops and some cargo.

The player's rogue has scouted the island and found the hiden harbor of stell cracons and also learned most of this information from a charmed goblin. They plan to attack in for waves First the Daggerspell mage will lead agroup of rogues to try and take the small airship and mine three of the towers on the east wall with so black disks they have fromtheir last navel battle. The next wave willl be the Caption of the airship coming in with aboout 7 others to attack the main keep by the roof and work their way down. The third is the warforged soul knife leading all the other warforged into the hiden harbor because the rogue used a charm monster spell on most of the kraken there. The last wave is the airship flying in and letting of the rest of the Breland soldiers.

I am going to have a human artificer as the leader of the Droaam army. The storyline is going to be that the Artificer, which is gong to be a high level Cannith artificer, is going to be one of Merrix d'Canniths old favorates until the leader of the PC's came alone and took her spot. THe Leader of my PCs is an up and coming noble in the cannith family with a few well know deeds under his belt. Things like stealing an airship from a keep, helping to win a navel battle over house property and taking out a stolen Warforged titan. So when he and the other PCs came to sharn I had Merrix take a liking to him. But back to the storyline, so this artificer that was a fromer favorate was trying to rgain her prestion with Cannith South by going back on the adventuring trail to Xen'driks. But on the way there she was one of the first victoms of the Droaam pirates. After being there a while she started to blaim others for her misfortions and went evil. THis is when she started working fo the pirates. helping them to get the steel krakens up and working for them as well as the airship they had. after about a year in the camp she had worked her way into a point of power in the group, and then with a well placed murder or to of the comanding officers of the fort took over.

The question I have is, did I over do the army of monsters they are going to fight. Did I for get any thing that is maybe of some importance. I know I put no clerics on the list but I worked a few low level ones into both the gnolls and goblins, as well as healing potions to heal the troops.
