| Pallin Rahl08-03-06, 05:24 PM | I'm just curious if the new Secrets of Xen'drik book talks about the Warforged tie to Xen'drik... ...and if they do discuss it, and it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd love to hear the very basic idea of those ties. I intend to eventually pick the book up (when my players are more likely to actually travel there)... but I'm dying to know if / what is said about this issue. :) |

Secrets of Xen'drik thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=668131) Yes, new backstory for the Warforged has been added in SoX. The Warforged are now originally a Quori invention, which the Giants modified to their own purposes. That makes Warforged post-date the beginning of the invasion. There is a template and a PrC involved Warforged that may be interesting to you if you plan to reveal this to your players. |

Nothing new was revealed regarding the Xulo project and if there were many giant warforged made / what happened to them / if there were other major schemas like Xulo that created warforged. It would seem the Quori built something resembling warforged first, though it is under dispute if this was based on stolen plans from giant artificers (stolen from their very dreams) or if the giants copied them. Personally, I rather like the idea that the giants dreamed them up first but the quori adopted the idea as a prototypical inspired. I'd imagine the Quori made the first docents, but their docents are very, very different. Quori docents store quori souls in a manner not entirely unlike how a kalashtar or inspired do so. Bond a quori docent to a quorcraft warforged and you've got an "intelligent item" that controls a mindless construct body. It's a very different technology and is more like a golem than a true warforged. |
