Godspeed Silent Emperor 12-17-05, 10:57 AM	as any reader or RoE knows is this a quote whcih fits a kalashtar just fine. :) As i'm playing a kalashatar monk, starting tomorrow, i would like to have some more quotes ready - but i'm not very good in coming along with some. So hopefully some people here can help me out?

I can't remember any actual quotes but if you use that formula, you should be able to get some of the dimmer PC's to nod and go "ooh". Then again, I find that I CANNOT play a serious monk. Way to many Jackie Chan movies.

Gurv 12-18-05, 10:24 AM	I find it very interesting that many of the phrases being presented on this thread are very similar to the ones given on various Draconic Prophecy threads. It seems to me that the reason that the Draconic Prophecy is hard to understand, and seems to be written in an elusive manner, is that something is lost in the translation. Not just the translation of language, but in the translation of thought. Some ideas are simply too alien to make much sense to us. "Seeding the clouds with gold" isn't something that would work on the Material Plane, and even if it did, the benefits are impossible to fathom. And even if it makes perfect sense to a kalashtar, he cannot explain it to us in terms we understand. The Prophecy may be just like that. Even the dragons have their limitations, and the vast intelligence they possess allows them only a slightly better understanding of such things. They record that understanding, which we must translate into our simpler languages...losing even more meaning. Perhaps this is why contact other plane works as a divination spell. Not because a random outsider is smarter or better informed. But because its way of understanding things can sometimes make some sense out of gibberish.

The phrase traces its origin to the philosopher and theologian Eric Voegelin, who warned of the fallacy of attempting to force matters on this present earth to conform to a (flawed) human view of how things should be after the end of days, i.e., he warned his contemporaries against immanentizing the eschaton. Opposing this viewpoint were various philosophical movements of the "hippie" era in American culture, who attempted to use meditation and the "commune" lifestyle in an attempt to show that humanity could transcend its limitations and bring about a perfect society. It was taken up as a motto by the Discordians in Robert A. Wilson's Illuminatus, which is where the Chaositech authors found it. Euangelion 12-21-05, 10:14 PM	And in the Bible (Edit: specifically the New Testament) the culmination of existence/End of Days/A New Heaven and A New Earth (i.e., the Eschaton) is described in some places as a great wedding banquet/feast (i.e., the Mother of All Wedding Receptions) eternally celebrating the marriage of Christ and the Church. Proleptic is Greek meaning "to see before," like a movie trailer. So a proleptic celebration of the consummation of the Eschaton means to have a celebration that is a preview of the eternal celebration at the end of time. In other words, it's a party.

That means, "the material plane is a solid illusion based on the turning of Dal Quor's age" It's a chance to use the English degree I'm working on. "Does the percipient officiate the appendage, or is the obverse more veracious?" or, in english, "Does the person control the arm, or is the opposite true?" Makes them more alien, at least to me.
