Ok, so my group just finished up Shadows, and to be honest, they really didn't appreciate the Doom (find key, open door) style puzzles, nor me outright lying to them about the "vampire".

Bollux to them on that count.

ANYWAY... charging right along...

I want to re-do at least the beginning of the adventure to suit their fancy... Well, ok, so I really want to tailor it around the only player who actually has a backstory that will be continuing on with us (I'm losing a player to michigan! Bleah!)

We've got...
Warforged Pal3/Fighter1 (Powergamer, no backstory to speak of)
Warforged Soulknife4 (Boringamer, just dull)
Human Cannith Artificer4 (NPC)
Human Deneith Druid from Lhazar (CN, out for renown, adventure, and, well... adventure)
Aerenal Elf PsiWarrior4 (Leaving for michigan)

I was thinking of weaving House Deneith's... problem... into the mix a little, (having Deneith hire the adventurers through the druid to pull the job for the KDL) but I have TERRIBLE luck with rolling dice, and the paladin is a little glad-happy on his detect evil ability.

Also, I need to find ways to incapacitate the paladin (adamantium, power attack, improved charge and all) without messily killing the rest of the group (who, frankly, don't stand a chance against anything that can give the pally a serious run for his money).

Toss in an evil cleric of a good god. He doesn't even need to use undetectable alignment; Clerics radiate an aura based on the alignment of their god in Eberron. Dol Dorn would be a good choice for a LE cleric.

Also, bring in Garrow early as you can. Remember that he can use his minor change shape ability at will. That means he can sit around perfecting it until he rolls a 20. So assume he does that.

Have one of the NPCs who knows of the party be prepared for them: Two of the party members are warforged; bring Rust Monsters (that'll put fear into them ^^)

There's a feat called Sidestep Charge which I believe gives the character a +4 bonus to AC against charges. Seeing as how your Paly spends his excess BAB on PA, that 4 should be all you need.

Improved Initiative. This feat is more useful that it looks.

Also, look at their character sheets. What's their poor save? I mean I realize you're dealing with a Paladin, but 'forged get a -2 to their saves, so unless this guy was built with 96 point buy, he's got to have a weakness somewhere. Exploit it. Charm monster is your friend ^^
