| Trixten_The_Kender10-24-04, 02:09 PM | Ok, I know there are other threads about this, but it was suggested to me to take my idea and put it in a separate thread, so here goes: Those of you (us) who wish to have a decent, detailed map for the Eberron CS (like the nice map we get with Forgotten Realms) need to make yourselves heard. Email WOTC Customer Service and tell them what you want!! Be firm, but tactfull, they won't listen to ranting and complaints as easily as they would positive suggestions. Include the features you wish to see, but be realistic. This might get them to come around and release the map we should have received with the book. Good Luck!!! custserv@wizards.com Feel free to post your responses here so we all can know what's going on. |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 02:12 PM | I have a PDF map with cities, capitals, regions, towns, famous sites, ruins, lightning rails, terrain types, etc, all mapped out. 1.65 megabytes, if anyone's willing to host. Or maybe I can convert it into a smaller image file... lemme see.. |
| Trixten_The_Kender10-24-04, 02:16 PM | I salute your hard work in creating a map for Eberron. However, those of us with crappy computers and bad printers (mine just dumped about 2 weeks ago) can't take advantage of your hard work. Also, the point is that you should not have had to do all that work in the first place, WOTC should have. But thanks anyway. :) |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 02:17 PM | Trying to convert from PDF to JPEG... but to convert from PDF to Adobe format creates a 44MB buffer file, if that gives you an idea of the job. It might take a whee bit, considering Adobe isn't usually used for images of that caliber... |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 02:20 PM | Oh nonono, I didn't make it. I just have it. I have no clue what it's source is. A friend of mine just sent it to me one day... I had always assumed he made it. Let me see what I can do about shrinking it down... |
| Daelkyr10-24-04, 02:39 PM | Honestly, I woudn't mind if it was put up as a web enhancement much like the map for the Dragonlance Campaign Setting. Just a trip down to Kinko's and I was in business. |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 02:43 PM | I have it shrunk down, poor quality, to 385kb. It's blurry and the colors are a bit faded, but it's still readable. I can distribute the shrunken down or high quality version to anyone who is willing to host them. |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 02:45 PM | Or if you want a copy, just reply in this thread. EDIT: With that in mind, I sent you the shrunken down JPG, Trix. |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 04:02 PM | Found a host for the low-res version. EDIT: There we go, should work now. http://img99.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img99&image=SahinsKhorvaireMap.jpg |
| Greyson10-24-04, 04:18 PM | Sahin, I will host any size document for you - no problem. Contact me off-listif you want. Send me any files. Then, I will upload to ny Web site and provide a URL for downloading. I am currently hosting one small Eberron document from my Download page, HERE (http://www.donkbrown.com/dehome/downloads.html). Just let me know. :) |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 04:23 PM | E-mailed it to you. :) |
| SahinTC10-24-04, 04:27 PM | And I just found out who is responsible for the map! It was Jhonen Olain, although his site seems to be down. Hurrah! There might not be a need to host after all, if his site comes back online... I found it in the google cache. EDIT: Greyson is graciously hosting it at http://www.donkbrown.com/dls/SahinsKhorvaireMap.jpg until the Eberron Journal is back online. |
| Trixten_The_Kender10-25-04, 03:46 AM | Appreciate the map!! I will see if a friend could print it for me until WOTC issues a replacement. Yes, I know, I'm **** retentive, I like the nice glossy fold up map. I framed the FRCS one in a plexiglass frame and draw on it with dry-erase marker to let my players know where they are and where they've been. Keep posting and please, even though there are maps out there, email WOTC to tell them how you feel and that they should have included one in the first place!!! |
| xcorvis10-25-04, 10:57 AM | There are two very excellent fan-created maps. You posted one of them earlier, made by kildaere007. Personally, I prefer the other version, made by Sebby: http://pages.videotron.com/sebby777/khorvaire_complete.jpg I doubt you need to petition WotC for a full, official map. It's pretty standard issue, and while it should have been in the main book, I'm sure they'll toss it into another one coming soon like the Sharn book. |

If you'd like I can take the full PDF file and convert it into Jpg without lossing the quality, I've got Adobe Photoshop so it wouldn't be any problem at all ;) |

Yep, the Breland Ledger (also known as Jonen Olaines Journal) does infact host the map. And yes we're down at the moment. *grumble - Brueklen d'Cannith |

The problem was finding a host that would host a 2MB file. :P. |

The clearly-defined borders are a nice touch. The PDF one in the Eberron Journal is also good, especially for zooming and printing. |

| Trixten_The_Kender10-26-04, 02:24 PM | I think it's great that there are this many people willing to help get the homemade maps out there and available. However, the purpose of this thread was to get people to tell WOTC that we shouldn't have to make our own maps. We shouldn't have to waste our paper and ink from our printers. We shouldn't have to spend another dime on a homemade map because it should have come with the book in the first place. I like the homemade maps I've seen, they are very well done. But as I have said before, I no longer have a printer and when it worked, it was not that great. Bottom line is that the ECS book SHOULD have included a detailed map, just like Forgotten Realms. Please help me fight for a proper Eberron map by emailing WOTC Customer Service and telling them they need to fix this mistake and what details you would like them to include. Thank you for letting me rant. custserv@wizards.com |
| WarlockDa10-26-04, 05:43 PM | From the way WotC replied to my query about a map when Eberron first came out I've got a feeling we will see one in time. Right now the big push is for game information, details and goodies that DMs really need to get players involved and attached to Eberron. Maps a wonderful tools, but that's all they are...a tool, and for the time being we can 'get by' with the maps in the books without the need for one large complete world map. Details on cities and the various cultures and such across Eberron....we can't really 'get by' as well without. |
| Erred Knight10-26-04, 05:50 PM | I threw in my 5 cents worth.. As to if it will do any good? I've had better success in arm wrestling transv- I mean, I've had better success in talking to super models. Well, not really. Anyhoo- I've done it. We'll see what happens yes? Cheers! |
| Trixten_The_Kender10-27-04, 02:07 PM | I threw in my 5 cents worth.. As to if it will do any good? Every little bit helps, the more people give input, the more "the powers that be" at WOTC will listen to us. Thanks!!! :) |
| Trixten_The_Kender10-28-04, 05:47 PM | Don't mind me, just keeping the thread alive, that's all. :looloo: |
| Sarig the Genie10-29-04, 09:18 AM | Maps just define things, I prefer things a bit more undecided myself (: |
| DwarvinJedi10-30-04, 10:39 AM | Thanks for the maps, now I just need to figure out how to print out a large copy, I can easily get it laminated, my friend has a laminator, but the printing is the challenging part. (I am almost 15, hate asking my parents for favors, and use most of my money on books and video games) |
| Eberik10-30-04, 11:06 AM | if I am not mistaken, WotC did release a map for Eberron some time back in a issue of Dungeon. I went to buy it and all the local shops were sold out of if.... I hope cause of the map and all.... see if it's available for back order and all. |

It does not have any cities, roads, lightning rail tracks or other specific details. That map is what everyone else is using as a foundation for their maps. Keep posting and emailing WOTC Customer Service!!! :twitch: |
| Trixten_The_Kender11-03-04, 10:30 PM | Nothing new, just bringing the thread back up to the main paige. :ghosted: |
