Could an artificer apply metamagic effects on an eternal wand? For example could they make an eternal wand of alter self with persistent spell on it?

Anyway to do something like this? Or would adding persistent spell on alter self make it level 8, and therefore unable to be made into an eternal wand?

You could apply feats but you can't exceed the caster level of 6. This means that the spell effect, after the metamagic feat is applied, cannot have a modified spell greater than 3. No persistent spell eternal wands.

Likewise, the artificer (or co-creator) must know the right metamagic feat, since the class can't emulate feat requirements for item creation.

Using the metamagic item infusion (lvl 3 infusion), you could get an eternal wand of alter self (regular in every way) and apply the persistant spell metamagic feat to it.

Problem solved.

Ah wait, I've answered this question on the CharOps board. Never mind.
