| Ryoden_Anariavas06-07-07, 02:23 PM | Has anyone come up with any good ideas for giving stats and a cost to the skycars in Sharn? |
| kentonblack06-07-07, 09:30 PM | I'd say that whatever is fair at the time. If your PC's are adamant about owning one, you quote them a price based on their level really. low level, it should be out of their league, but accesible, even if two PC's give up most of their loot for the darned thing. Mid-level, i would say it would be a MAJOR purchase(50% a PC's wealth) but not so crazy. really, Ive seen PC's spend their ENTIRE pile of loot on one sword (It's cold iron holy and keen, but hell, he wasnt wearinf any armor now was he?) so it shouldnt be aproblem if they are dedicated. At higher levels, theyre gonna want an airship. they wont just want to stay in Sharn, so by then it's pocket change really |
| Ryoden_Anariavas06-08-07, 09:25 AM | I would tend to agree with you kentonblack and I am giving them one as part of an adventure but I was hoping for stats like speed manuverability and the like. My party has decided on a urban campaing so it is unlikley that they will be wanting a Airship but I know they will want to have there own way to get around the city without relying on a taxi service |
| Amaril06-08-07, 10:45 AM | In all honesty, with the high population in Sharn, I'd venture to guess that personal skycoaches would be illegal to own and operate. The skycoaches are part of a service to provide adequate transportation in a practical manner such that there should be no problem with relying on such service. Additionally, the cost for this service is minimal for adventurers. In other words, I don't think there's any significant or distinct advantage to have a personal skycoach. |
| Need_A_Life06-08-07, 02:53 PM | 9,200 And would require the Mark of Storm to operate. Like an airship, just with the price reduced to 1/10th of a full airship's price. Reasoning? At level 4 two PCs can spend almost all their wealth to buy a single one, which will give them quick transportation throughout Sharn. Yippee... At 1st level, it's 92 PCs who have to spend almost all their wealth to buy one. So, mid-level can buy one with a little effort, but at low levels, there's no way in Dolurrh you're buying one. |
| Balseraph06-08-07, 06:36 PM | I could see that working out fairly well. Although I wouldn't require the Mark of Storm. I don't think it very likely that House Lyrandar Dragonmarked have nothing better to do than be cabbies in Sharn. If you want to put a Wheel of Wind and Water on one for the extra 8000gp, go right ahead! Probably only worth doing if the PC is a Dragonmarked. Actually, come to think of it I don't think I'd even require the Skycoach to be an elemental vessel. Just soarwood with some form of levitation, flight, or generic buoyancy effect permanently tied to it. There are lots of them, right? It doesn't seem to quite fit that the Zilargo monopoly on elemental binding for vessels would be capable of mass production on this scale... Anyway, that's just my two cents. I do like the pricing based off a full-scale ship though, it certainly works for my game. |
| Kinger06-09-07, 05:16 PM | Why not just use the cost of a Flying Carpet? That's basically what they are. Reduce it by 25% due to their reliance on Sharn's Manifest Zone to Syrannia. Reduce it by 25% of THAT due to requiring the person be capable of casting... Tenser's Floating Disk? That way not everybody can use it, but a Magewright could. Magewrights are common enough. And it discourages PC's from skycoachjacking. |
