Dragonmark Visionary: Storm Touch [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-13-07, 09:49 PM I did several searches to see if this has come up, so far as I can tell, it hasn't. I've found some discussion on the spell, but not as granted by the feat Dragonmark Visionary.

The spell Storm Touch appears in Magic of Eberron, while the feat Dragomark Visionary (which Augments the Greater Mark of the Storm) is in Dragonmarked.

Storm Touch is a powerful wizard/sorc spell which which gives a 9d6 electricity melee touch attack, with a number of charges equal to caster level. For a straight caster with a low BAB and therefore few attacks this is a nice spell that will let you act over a large number of rounds without burning a lot of spell slots.

Though one must note that for someone with any Mark of the Storm you do 10d6 damage instead of 9d6.

Now I have to wonder if whoever included it under Dragonmark Visionary in Dragonmarked read the spell carefully enough to notice the number of charges equal to caster level... because for a Dragonmarked... you can end up with a stupidly high caster level AND a full BAB bonus.

In theory a full BAB class going into Storm Sentry (a PRC in the same book) as soon as they can would by level 12 (assuming they took Greater Mark at level 9) have a caster level of 15 and be able to take Dragonmarked Visionary: Storm Touch.

With a BAB of +12/+7/+2 for the cost of one standard action so the expense of one round for the next 5 rounds(15 melee touch attacks) each attack would be doing 10d6 electricity damage. If they miss the melee touch charge is not lost, and if they kill everyone they can hold that charge indefinitely.

So a guaranteed 150d6 of damage.... but wait Dragonmarked Visionary grants Storm Touch 2/day... so 300d6 of electricity damage per day... NO SAVE FOR HALF DAMAGE, just save against stun.

That does not seem right at all.

What sort of CL would you need on that to pick up Maximize Spell Like Ability for that I wonder...*evil grin*
