Alright, first thing that needs to be known, is that I am a complete newb to the Eberron setting, so if there has been a thread about this before, I apologize.

There is a feat in Dragon Magazine (I think #351), the feat is Dragonmarked Sorcerer, and it allows a character (specifically a sorcerer of an acceptable race) to advance his dragonmark in accordance to the level of spell he can cast. So, through the course of adventuring, your dragonmark evolves. Cool enough.

Now, there is a prestige class (dragonmarked heir) that requires you to have a dragonmark, my first question is: would you allow this feat to qualify you for that class? - you would not have an actual dragonmark feat, but you would have a dragonmark.

The second is: it seems to me that this would allow a character to advance in both the dragonmarked heir, and the heir of siberys prc. A daunting acheivement for any pc, to be sure. the heir class states that once you take it, you cannot take levels in Dragonmarked heir, but it would be possible to max out the former, and take the latter, since there is no such restriction on the dragonmarked heir.

Obviously this is something that should be discussed with the DM first, as it would be incredibly rare (or impossible if that's the ruling) but it seems reasonable to me. I guess I was just looking to see if anyone else had come to the same conclusions?

I'd have to go back and check, but I'm pretty sure the Dragon article stipulates that the feat doesn't allow the character to qualify for PRCs with it.

What I can understand from your wording is that it alows you to advance a dragonmark you actually have. Now i haven't read the actual feat, so I might be wrong.

Bot the wording in the Heir of Siberys PrC also states that:
A character who has either the aberrant, least, lesser or greater dragonmark feats cannot enter this PrC.

So I would personally rule that (assuming I misunderstood your wording of the feat), if it would qualify you for the Dragonmarked heir PrC, then it would also disqualify you from the Heir of Siberys PrC.

The feat specifically states that you cannot take the least, lesser, or least Dragonmark feat. As Dragonmark Heir grants you those feats... so no.

In addition it'd be silly, you'd lose your spell caster progression for no benifit.

For Heir of Siberys its less overt. The feat Dragonmark Sorcerer doesn't specifically state that you cannot take Heir of Siberys, but rather we have to look at the Heir of Siberys class. To become an Heir of Siberys you must NOT BEAR A MARK. Dragonmarked Sorcerers already bear Dragonmarks (effectively having the least, lesser, or greater depending ontheir caster level). So no, you cannot take that PrC.

Dragonmarked Sorcerers are already powerful enough as it is adding ALL powerf from the least, lesser, and greater marks to their known spells. Stop trying to break something already overpowered.

I think it was the point of that feat to enable a sorcerer to get all the dragonmarks and their powers without having to take the dragonmark feats or the Dragonmark Heir PrC.

I don't understand why you want to take levels in that class. You'll loose caster levels.

IIRC, on one of the threads on this board, Hellcow (Keith Baker) said that the character should be treated as having the least, lesser, and greater marks as s/he got advanced enough to cast the spells that were on the list.
This would technically qualify you for Dragonmark Heir, but since you cannot have the actual feats, they'd be dead levels.
It would also preclude you from taking Heir of Siberys (since you already have the Least Dragonmark, at least).

Alright, first off, I'm not trying to break something that is completely over-powered, (and as to the feats over-powered status, I won't even get into that) I thought it would be something very cool and unique as far as a character idea.

I understand that with the feat, yout cannot take any of the dragonmarked feats - it specifically says so, so many of the abilities of the dragonmarked heir would be completely wasted, as well as the dead levels for spellcasting, but you would get the action point boost, as well as the bonus to charisma checks with members of your house (both seem pretty cool to me).

Since your not taking dragonmark feats, you can fill these slots with feats to increase your Action Points and with Favoured in the House. That should have the same effect.
