Lessor Humanoid Essence + Improved Fortification [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-18-07, 07:50 AM Ok the Feat for Warforged Improved Fortification says that they are no longer subject to critical hits or sneak attacks and it says they no longer can be healed by normal Conjuration healing.

The infusion Lessor Humanoid Essence says that the touched Construct gains the full benefit of Conjuration Heal spells for the duration of the spell.

Do these two work together. I have one person in my group that says that Lessor Humanoid Essence would not work on him and one person that says that it doesn't specifically say that it doesn't work on warforged that take the Improved Fortification and thus would allow warforged to be healed.

I guess another way of asking it is if you cast this infusion on a Warforged Juggarnaut, can that warforge be healed by a cleric with the Conjuration heal spells? I'd have to say yes, but people in my group are arguing back.

05-18-07, 09:50 AM I think by the Rules As Written you are allowed to get the benifit of both at the same time. I feel that the spirit of the "Improved Fortification" feat is that you just don't contain the squishy bits that would benefit from healing spells and therefore are no longer subject to critical hits. However, the Humanoid Essence infusion is magic: it gives a construct those squishy bits and lets you get healed fully by magic. I'd make a ruling that while under the effects of Humanoid Essence you take critical hits again.

05-19-07, 09:53 AM The spell works on normal living constructs, those with Improved Fortification and most true constructs. Further, I'd most definitely not make it negate the critical immunity - this is one of the abilities of the Humanoid Essence and Greater Humanoid Essence spells.

Funnily enough, it precisely doesn't work on golems since those have immunity against pretty much everything that allows spell resistance, like Magic Missile, Inflict Damage and, yes, Humanoid Essence.
