Alex_ 11-14-07, 01:20 AM	While reading a paper for one of my classes, I was struck with a new character concept. A graffiti artist in Sharn! Any ideas on the Eberron equivalent to spray paint? Perhaps Arcane Mark, although that limits you to symbol(s) that must fit within 1 square foot. Maybe a modified magic item that's based on the effect. Used for temporary markings. Inns, restaurants, shops, and other businesses often use them to quickly set up advertisements for deals and sales. Some brigand, however, has taken to using one of the items to mark others' property.
ChaoticGood 11-14-07, 01:39 AM	I was beaten to the punch, sort of, but I was going to say eternal wands of arcane mark. Perhaps Dragonmarked Houses keep such wands with their 'marks for personal identification, but you could have a few upscale novelty shops sell them with popular catch-phrases or icons stored inside.

Edymnion 11-14-07, 12:58 PM	Just say you can have Arcane Mark produce any drawing you want within the size limit, and that you can decide what that drawing will be when you cast the spell. Boom, you're done. You just use multiple castings to make the image larger than normal. Perfect for sorcerous hooligans using all their spells per day (use lvl 1 spells to cast your arcane mark cantrip as well), and you could easily cover a standard sized room wall in short order. For bigger walls, you combine multiple casters to work on it together.
OctaviusIII 11-14-07, 09:29 PM	Going into the mundane, back in the good ol' days (Roman Empire, medieval, etc.), people would graffiti by chisling into walls, drawing with charcoal, or regular paint. It didn't have quite the same romance that spray paint does, but it did certainly work.

Too true, and honestly, this character (probably an NPC at this point) will most likely use a good deal of both mundane and magical means to practice his art.
Nerdicus 11-15-07, 11:47 AM	Or perhaps some magically enhanced paint that the artist uses to paint his marks with. The symbol itself need not be magical, but rather the paint it is painted with is. Now...would you have this artist as painting in order to get across some sort of political message, or is this guy painting for the sake of painting and getting up to no good? Historically it was a means of getting a message of social unrest made public, but now a days it is more about showing off and being hip hop. You could have a crew of guys who are into spoken word and poetry, dancing and graffiti! Eberrons own hiphop crew! I could see this working great as a crew of shifters and changelings.
elondir 11-15-07, 01:25 PM	That's a pretty cool idea. It almost warrants its own spell, as long as the spell doesn't require the caster to actually write the message on the wall.
Arz 11-19-07, 09:41 AM	I also like the idea of an aberrant heir burning his message into buildings. When his frustration builds at people not paying attention to his message he begins looking for a more mobile canvas...
