| Burningspear11-03-07, 01:38 AM | we all know the rings of wizardry, but i wish to create an item which does something similar, but not copy those rings. If divine?, does it still need to be a ring? :plotting: Or can it be another item worn.. I agree it still nees an equivalent of limited wish, so Miracle seems fine by me, although Miracle is a massive 9th lvl instead of 7th for limited wish. hmmz... (and any of the correct alignment spells:cloak of chaos, holy or unholy aura) Effect of item, roughly: +4 divine bonus to AC,+2 to all saves, only given if of the correct alignment. Lay on hands as per paladin ability. but equal to her total character level (wearer only). +2 spells per effective priest caster level (+2 1st, +2 2nd etc.). meaning, if the wearer is 4th lvl priest, and has the feat practiced spell caster giving him +6 levels he counts as a 10th lvl effectively. Spells memorized: 1 is of free choice of the wearer, other is onto DM's discretion as it must adhere to the wearers gods philosophy. (maybe of the domain spells available or of any other spell (within his spell list) deemed fitting to further the gods cause.) any ideas/ comments on abilities and cost? |
| Just_some_Evil_Wizard11-03-07, 04:27 AM | Using the item creation rules: +2 spell slots for every level = Pearls of Power I - IX * 2 = 570,000 GP +4 divine bonus to AC = 4*4*2500*1.5(secondary ability) = 60,000 GP +2 unnamed to saves = 2*2*2000*1.5 (secondary ability) * 2 (for unnamed) = 24.000 Lay on Hands - similar to Cure Critical Wounds, CL7 1x/day 7*4*1800*1.5/5= 15,120 GP Total 669,120 GP I've priced the Lay on Hands ability as Cure Critical Wounds 1x/day. It's not the same, but similar. I didn't factor in the slight alignment restriction, as it isn't much of a restricition. Using common sense: Too expensive. Spend your money on wisdom booster, a wand of cure light wounds etc. |
| Burningspear11-03-07, 11:49 AM | Thanks for the reply, although i think this kinda item has more restrictions in its use (spells memorized, half must be from domains that the god supports, is that not worth a divide of cost? +2 spell slots for every level = Pearls of Power I - IX * 2 = 570,000 GP :2= 260.000 GP :plotting: |
| Edymnion11-03-07, 02:33 PM | Just change the flavor. Instead of a Ring of Wizardy, make it a Holy Symbol of Faith. Same price, just change any wizard specific boosts to cleric, and make it take up a different slot (like a necklace). |

A reduction of 50% is quite something, however. The restricitions in the DMG (class only etc.) only give 70%. If you allow spells from ALL Domains a deity can give, it wouldn't even be a restriction, but an additional bonus, as this will probably increase the spell list. E. G.: A deity gives access to the travel domain, but a cleric has chosen two other domains. If your Ring grants use of spells in the travel domain, the cleric could suddenly cast Fly. |

But he would grant them to you (the wearer) only if you already had said Domains, so no freebee additions. |
