PrC Adaptation: Radiant Servant of Siberys? [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-27-07, 12:47 PM Since being an alignment-based Cleric (and as alluded to in the EBCS, one who channels the power of the dragon above,) is the only way to get a hold of the sun and healing domains (Although I think there might be a way to do it while worshiping the sovereign host as well,) it seems fitting to me that the Radiant Servant class could be adapted to these specific clerics.

My question is this...Should anything about the PrC change because of the change in focus? Aside from the requirement to be a Cleric who channels the dragon above, and have access to the Sun and Healing domains, is there anything that could be swapped to make the PrC more appropriate?

04-27-07, 10:17 PM In my game I let the PrC be used as written. The reason behind the decision is that one of my players character concepts fit the prestige class perfectly.

For fluff I stated that the radiant servants of the sovereign host are a small, lossly organized group of priests who emphasize the cleansing power of Dol Arrah, and the healing power of Olladra. Given how sectarian the Sovereign Host is it seemed to fit fine.

04-27-07, 11:16 PM In the Mark of Heroes campaign, the RSoP is adapted as the Radiant Servant of the Silver Flame, which strikes me as a rather poor idea, since it overall just fits kinda poorly (SF is LG, Pelor is NG, SF has Exorcism, Good, Law, and Protection, Pelor has Good, Healing, Strength, and Sun, SF is somewhat crusading, strict, small church, Pelor is the most popular deity of ordinary people, etc).

I figured Radiant Servant of the Sovereign Host would be the best fit, since the SH is NG, is the most popular religion of Eberron's ordinary people, and grants the right domains, although some might be concerned that from a power perspective, this just gives clerics of the Sovereign Host too much power for a prestiging, having two very powerful prestige classes (Radiant Servant of the Sovereign Host and Sovereign Speaker). Syberis is certainly a possibility, although it doesn't really have anything to recommend it, IMHO. Sure, you can have the Sun and Healing domains from Syberis, but clerics of Syberis have no particular reason to: they can just as easily have Evil and Destruction, or Protection and Luck, or any other two domains: why would some clerics of Syberis get a special NG-only prestige class focused on the sun and healing domains?

What about Dol Arrah?

She has Good, Law, Sun, and War. and is NG Swapping in Healing isn't all that big a streatch, IMO.

Additionally, given the emphasis on Positive Energy, both through healing and undead-fighting it would fit very strongly as an Aerenal class. I'm not sure I'd make that the *only* place such a class was available, but I'd definitely make it one of them.

04-28-07, 12:19 PM To extend what Greg said, and if you want to play an elf: the Aerenal elves already believe that the existence of negative energy undead somehow pulls Mabar closer to the Material Plane. I would have a sect of the Undying Court that provides Sun and Healing domains to their clerics. This sect would be dedicated to burning out undead wherever they find them and healing the damage they cause to the world. The sect would be perfect for producing the Radiant Servant and Sacred Exorcist prestige classes.

04-29-07, 04:07 AM In my campaigns I allow any philosophy cleric to become a Radiant Servant of ______, aswell as adding the sun and healing domains to the Undying Court(It does fit them actually, as long as you don't take the Sun domain to literallly) and thus we have.

Radiant Servant of the Host
Radiant Servant of the Undying Court( or Defender of True Life as an alternate name)
Radiant Servant of _________(name of philosophical path or neoreligion)

but none of the following are allowed, cause I don't ussually allow sects that give the Sun and Healing Domains to these religions

Radiant Servant of Blood/Vol
Radiant Servant of the Dragon Below
Radiant Servant of the Dark Six
Radiant Servant of the Silver Flame

04-30-07, 12:12 AM The reason why this class is mostly adapted as a flamic PrC is because "Pelor teaches demonstrating the strength of good through charity and modesty." While the Sovereign Host is a good pantheon, its focus is wide and not necessarily good-oriented. As with the church of Pelor, the church of the Silver Flame places a great importance on combatting evil.

There already exists an official adaptation for the Radiant Servant of the Silver Flame in the campaign standards for the Xen'drik Expeditions RPGA campaign:

1) Replacing access to the Sun domain with access to the Exorcism domain in prerequisites, as well as the required deity to the Silver Flame.
2) The extra greater turning is replaced with greater exorcism, which adds Radiant Servant levels to cleric levels to determine the result of exorcism and also allows the Servant to exorcise as a move action by spending two action points
3) Finally, the Empower/Maximize/Supreme Healing abilities work differently. Instead of working on domain spells from the Healing domain, the Servant can now prepare up to 1/2 his level of Conjuration (healing) spells as if they were Empowered/Maximized/Supreme without adjusting the spell slot cost or casting time.
