Can Dal Quor ever touch Eberron through a Wild Zone? Secrets of Sarlona seems to imply that it can't... all of the Eberron material seems to imply that it can't. But then there's the comic page in the back of SoS where the character encounters a Quori in a Wild Zone. What's the deal?

And on that note... could Quori invade Eberron again through a transitive plane? It seems like the plane of shadow would be a good choice. Dal Quor is forever sundered from Eberron, but it could still connect with the Astral, Etherial, or Shadow. How hard would it be to lead an invasion through one of these back doors?

Because the last attempt of the Quori to invade Eberron worked SO well... No, I think they rather prefer their current more stealthy approach. And besides, they do generally seem to feel that they don't need to control teh world... just the dreams of those who shape THEIR world.

Could they? Maybe. The attitude of the Quori are not the same as they were during the Age of Giants, though. They dreaming Dark changed at some point since then, giving the Quori a whole new style. They are more into subtlety and manipulation than conquest now.

Technically, only Eberron's Material plane is connected to the Ethereal and Shadow planes, so those are right out. The specific means by which Dal Quor was sent off its orbit prevents plane shifting to it (unlike Xoriat), and largely restricts travel to Dal Quor to dreaming, the Quori's possession ability and other "special" means of travel. If the Quori can succeed in bringing Dal Quor closer to Eberron, that could change, of course.

Sounds like the consensus is no. So what's the deal with the art at the beginning of the chapter on Sarlonan Monsters in Secrets of Sarlona? It says, "Like many adventurers of Khorvaire, Laanara had scoffed at the legendary dangers of Sarlona's wild zones... until the du'ulora quori manifested before her party."

Can someone please explain how a quori manifested before a party on the material plane of Eberron? Seems like they'd be looking to make use of this path, if it indeed is one. What better way to take out those foolish Kalashtar and secure a dark and stable future for themselves?

There's a psionic power in magic of eberron that creates a shell for a quori to inhabit. Perhaps something like that happened.

Or perhaps the Wild Zone is that. Wild, 99.99999% of the time it is connected to another plane. There is that sliver of a chance it contacts Dal Quor, perhaps the du'ulora quori accidently slipped through then.

Actually, the age of giants type of Quori were good (or at least, not as evil) and only fled from Dal Quor to Xen'drik in an attempt to escape the turning of the age.
The giants were the first ones to strike, not wanting another race to enroach on their territory, that's when the war begun.

Well, we only have one person(?)'s word to take for that.

As has been said, there is a psionic power to manifest a Quori for a short time.

I'd say the reason they don't do this is fear. Fear that their carefully crafted empire sees them for what they are and, more importantly, fear that anything might happen to them while manifested - while the Quori race is immortal, individual Quori are not.

The quori manifest as a gosthly version of itself (transparent and blue, you know the drill). The Quori we saw on the chapter opener cleary was THERE, not only manifested temporarly.

Yep, that would be the infamous "The Giants Asked For It!" thread on the older version of the boards.

1. Keith bakers books seem to suggest that the old qouri were not as evil. Though we dont know who started the war, we do know the old quori were different.

2. Those same novels suggest that the monoliths that the Quori use connect them to the plane better. It is possible that these monoliths are having some partial success and by allowing the beggining of a opening between the realms-if only locally.

3. i perhaps dont remember but i though in secrets of sarlona somewhere a reason for this is suggested.

4. It coudl be the work of the rajahs-but this is purely interpretive.

Explanation 2 seems to be the best for me.

How about this... agents of the Dreaming Dark discover a portal to Dolurrh. Thousands of Inspired line up to have their human vessels stabbed in the heart by the Keeper's Fang (ECS 266). Both the human soul and the Quori spirit are sent to the Keeper's domain. There, the troops gather until they have a massive army, and they leave through the portal and arrive in Eberron to put an end once and for all to those blasted Kalashtar.

Like the one in Wayne Reynolds's action spread?

I missed that thread, I suppose. But, as far as the old Quori being the non-agressors, we really only have Shira's word to go on here.

Yes, and the power in SoS describes it as such too.

Enough with the conspiracies!

It seems easy to deduct that the cycles of dal quor are light/darkness and the last quori's were creatures of dream, not nigthmare. IMHO.

All I know is that if I get my hands on a Tuscori Quori mini from unhallowed, I am going to find a way to get my PCs to Sarlona, and I will find a way for them to encounter this lovely mini. If anyone wants to think too hard about the hows and whys, I'll make that a big plot point (like those monoliths someone mentioned, or the idea of sneaking in through Dol'Urh) and something the PCs will have to stop. If nobody bothers too much with the impossibility of it all, neither will I =)

One person(?) does not a conspiracy make, though :P

Besides which, the possibility that the Kalashtar might actually be *wrong*, or that the changes to Dal Quor (which do occur on a scale beyond the ken of the mortals of Kourvaire) aren't as cyclical as everyone thinks are certainly interesting possibilities, ne?
