Rod of many wands & metamagic spell trigger [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-13-08, 09:43 PM Can a Rod of Many Wands CM pg.128 (rod holds 3 wand you can activate them one at one time or all 3 as a full round action)& metamagic spell trigger, as in the artificer class ability, work together? Could you use it to metamagic 3 wands all at the same time. If you could think dual wand wielder two Rods of Many Wands oh the glory & power, heh. I don't know if it would i'm stuff a DM could said it would but you know.

03-14-08, 10:28 AM You can definately use metamagic spell trigger on that item. The charge cost though really adds up since each wand will burn both the charge penalty for being loaded in a ROMW and the metamagic trigger cost (since you can't activate any of the wands seperately).

You cannot however use two ROMWs at the same time any more than you could activate two staves at once. The dual wand weilder feat and cannith wand adept ability both specifically say wands, and activating the ROMW is using the rod instead.

It's still an awesome item, and designed to unload lots of hurt. Too bad I don't think we'll see a rod of many dorje :D

Why not is would probably be the same price if you have a cool DM it shouldn't be a problem I would allow it in my campaign, be the DM & all.

Well, if you want to house rule it, that's fine, but RAW I don't think it's legal.

03-24-08, 01:03 PM On Dorje, there is a BIG difference between them and wands. Dorje can have ANY power set into them. Thats any as in 1st through 9th power, unlike wands that are capped at 4th. 3 9th level powers at once could create a bad day for anything, but it's really all about what you want in your world, and it would be pretty expensive (just over 20k gp for one triple shot not counting any metamagic)to fire that off...
