Runestaff of Fiery Death Price (Item Level): 16,000 gp (14th) Body Slot: - (held) Caster Level: 9th Aura: Moderate; (DC 19) evocation Activation: As spell used Weight: 3 lb. This redwood staff has copper bands with fire patterns etched into it. A runestaff of fiery death allows you to cast any of the following spells (each three times per day) by expending a prepared arcane spell or arcane spell slot of the same level or higher. • Blast of Flame* • Fireball • Firebrand* • Fireburst* • Ray of Flame* Lore: Created by a Fire Genasi that was born when Fernia was Coterminous. This runestaff shows his love of fire to all that see it used (Knowledge [history] DC 15). Prerequisites: Craft Staff, Blast of Flame*, Fireball, Firebrand*, Fireburst*, Ray of Flame*. Cost to Create: 8,000 gp, 640 XP, 16 days. *See Spell Compendium for these spells. Runestaff of the Apprentice Price (Item Level): 350 gp (2nd) Body Slot: - (held) Caster Level: 8th Aura: Moderate; (DC 19) mixed Activation: As spell used Weight: 2 lb. This staff is made of mahogany that bears a number of runes depicting six lessons that every wizard learns. A runestaff of the apprentice allows you to cast either of the following spells (each three time per day) by expending a prepared arcane spell or arcane spell slot of the same level or higher. • Detect Magic • Read Magic • Mage Hand • Prestidigitation • Resistance • Open/Close Lore: Created by an elven wizard as a gift to his apprentice after he master his six basic teachings on spellcasting use (Knowledge [history] DC 15). It has become a tradition to hand this staff to students that exceeded there teachers expectations at Morgrave University (Knowledge [local] DC 10). Prerequisites: Craft Staff, Detect Magic, Read Magic, Mage Hand, Prestidigitation, Resistance, Open/Close. Cost to Create: 175 gp, 14 XP, 1 day.
