Warforged and Polymorph [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-02-07, 02:43 PM I can't be the first one to ask this question, but I didn't find it elsewhere.
So here is the question:

Can a warforged, casting polymorph from PHB P.263 transform himself into another construct of max. 15 HD ? :confused:

12-03-07, 12:31 AM Polymorph says it can turn you into "another living creature". Therefore it can only turn him into another living creature, including *Living* Constructs but not Constructs in general.

Also, the limit is his caster level in HD or 15 HD, whichever is lower.

12-04-07, 01:43 AM Modrons aren't the only other Living Constructs, anyway (and Modrons, IIRC, don't officially exist in Eberron). There's the Dust-Stuffed (but that's a template, so you can't polymorph into it). There's also the other flavors of Warforged -- Warforged Chargers, Warforged Scouts, and Warforged Scorpions. (Titans and Quorcraft Warforged are true Constructs and off-limits).

There's the Dust-Stuffed (but that's a template, so you can't polymorph into it). There's also the other flavors of Warforged -- Warforged Chargers, Warforged Scouts, and Warforged Scorpions. (Titans and Quorcraft Warforged are true Constructs and off-limits).

Warforged Scorpions don't have the Living subtype either, IIRC.

12-06-07, 01:37 AM A warforged can transform himself into another living construct because the text says that you can turn the subject into something with the same type as the subject. For all others, there is limit on the types allowed by the spell, and Living Construct isn't on that list, so nothing else can turn into a Living Construct.

You'll note that Outsiders are alive, but you can't use Polymorph to become one, so just being alive doesn't mean someone can use polymorph to turn into you. An outsider could turn into another outsider, but no one else can.

The OP asks about "construct" type. No, he couldn't turn himself into a Golem, but he could turn himself into a Warforged Scout. Living Construct is not the same type as Construct.

However, polymorph can only be cast on living creatures and says that it turns living creatures into other living creatures. So WF can only turn into other Living Constructs, even though they *are* of the same Type as Golems and Homunculi and such.
