| Conners_of_Sharptooth04-22-07, 01:08 PM | I'm confused on the whole warforged wizard needing rest rule. A warforged wizard needs to rest for 8 hours before preparing spells but during that time, they cannot use skills. This means they can't use the Craft: Repair Warforged skill on themselves which is how warforged heals because they can't frinken gain hp back naturally. So how is a warforged wizard supposed to repair themselves (aside from wasting spells the next day)? If someone has found a way around this, i'de really like to know. |
| KidChainsaw04-22-07, 01:32 PM | You make a choice. Either bang out the dents or memorize those spells - not both. |
| Just another user04-22-07, 01:56 PM | on the top of my head - prepare a Repair spell and use it first thing after spell preparation(or buy a wand of the appropriate spell) - hire someone to repair him - craft a crafter omunculus (what is its name?) and make him repair him while he is resting. |
| Cifer04-22-07, 05:04 PM | - craft a crafter omunculus (what is its name?) and make him repair him while he is resting. Dedicated Wright. @Conners This will stop mattering after a few levels, simply because nightly regeneration is going to stop mattering - when the cleric is not to heal you anymore, it's time to call it a day. Standard regeneration will stop mattering then because it would just take too long. Thus, you'd better prepare some repair spells and be happy with the fact that you're one of the most self-sufficient class/race combos in the game. |
| Wymarc04-24-07, 03:07 PM | get a friend to repair you while you rest |
| Edymnion04-24-07, 07:01 PM | and be happy with the fact that you're one of the most self-sufficient class/race combos in the game.Right behind the Artificer. :D |
| LoneStranger04-25-07, 06:54 PM | Switch to a Warforged artificer and don't forget to make some repair oils/scrolls/wands for yourself during the downtime your group should be having. |
| Michael_Silverforge04-26-07, 02:00 PM | Get the Repair XX Damage spells and: 1) Since you have Scribe Scroll as a Wizard Feat, make a whole bunch of Repair Light Damage (Level 1) scrolls (12.5 gp and 1 xp each, and use those to "fix" yourself (1d8+1) before or after resting, or 2) Leave a couple of your wizard spell slots open, and if you don't need them during the course of your day, spend 15 minutes before resting, memorize the appropriate Repair spell, cast it, then rest and you get the slots back. |
| crashbangboom04-26-07, 04:26 PM | Unseen Crafter; Sor/Wiz 2 cast and rest away, it conjures an invisible servant that needs to be given tools and instructions. It uses your ranks in craft, your Int modifier, and if repairing warforged it gets +10 bonus to the check(s).Duration 1day/level. You can find the spell description in the Races of Eberron, page191. |
| Jonasty04-27-07, 01:27 PM | You could also buy one of the eternal wands out of ECS. They go up to 3rd level arcane spells which should at least cover up to repair mod dam. The wand never runs out so as long as you aren't trying to craft away 100hp of damage a zap or 2 should take care of you. |
| androkguz04-29-07, 02:26 PM | Right behind the Artificer. :D Actually it's almost better. The wizard gets the Repair spells some levels before the Artificer because a new level of infusions is gained every three artificer levels and a new level of spell is gained every two wizard levels. |
| Cifer05-03-07, 12:35 PM | @Androkguz On the other hand side, a wizard lacks spontaneous casting - the most spontaneous thing he can do is meditate for 10 minutes and fill in an empty spell slot. In order to do some serious healing right now, he's got to diminish his available high-level slot blasting power. |

Well, wizards (like artificers, I know...) have Scribe Scroll which can save a lot of repair spells to use right know, including high level ones. Plus, wizards laught at a Charisma penalty, diferently from artificers. And they still have got a lot more spell slots than the artificer is got infusion slots so there is room for a lot of both: repair and other fun stuff |
| Thrincold05-04-07, 09:08 AM | In my campaign, we also developed a feat for just this problem. Meditative Repair (general) Prereqs: Warforged, craft (any that apply to warforged) +5, Caster level: 1 Benefit: You may use 8 hours to repair yourself, during that time, it will count as "resting" in order to regain spells. This may only be done once per 24 hour period, and may only be performed on yourself. Normal: Using skills of any sort during the 8 hours of rest needed to recuperate spells negates the ability to memorize spells at the end of that time. This was kind of stolen from KOTOR 2. One of the abilities you gain in that game is the ability to regain force points while repairing the astromech you get as an NPC. We found its a great early feat. With the restrictions in place, it prevents a caster WF from say, repairing the "meatshield" WF in the party, while he does the same for himself. |
| Phalo05-05-07, 05:46 PM | you could always use unseen crafter |
