| Resist7706-25-07, 07:28 PM | As far as I know, the only course ever mentioned in any of the novels/sourcebooks is "Thrane Military Studies" taught under Praxle d'Sivis(from Orb of Xoriat). Anyone have any interesting ideas for the various courses that are availiable at Morgrave? A few of my own include -History of the Dhakanni Empire -Planar Theory -Elementary Elvish/Dwarven/Talentan etc.. |

| Revvecor06-26-07, 08:40 AM | Nice thread By thee way, what do the numbers and letters before the courses' names mean? The "letters" are the first letters of each word in my course name. The numbers are different levels of classes (like at a college or university) with a 100 level class as an introduction level 110,120.... as mid level courses 200 level classes as advanced level >200 level as a focus (in a field of study) |
| TiwazTyrsfist06-26-07, 01:19 PM | At the college I attended, 100's level coarses were introductory classes and general education requirements. 200's levels coarses were required within a specific major, mid-level coarses, and available as electives. 300 level and higher coarses were Major coarses, available only to people within that specific major. They were also the specific requirements for a major. I.E. as a history major, I needed 9 hours of American history, 6 hours of european history, 6 hours of asian or african history, and 15 hours of history classes in any subset. Those classes had to be 300 level or higher. At most universities, I believe 500 level and over coarses are usually graduate/masters level coarses. |

| Njord07-02-07, 04:30 PM | Advanced draconic studies would be more philosophy that actual anatomy. The only draconic tissue you could safely get your hands on might be bones but even then an ancient lover/chamber agent might break things up. It would mostly be a conjecture class and focus on subraces, The Prophecy and all the cool tidbits we will see in Dragons of Eberron. The professor for this class has a peculiar background and for all intents and purposes could be a dragon himself/herself, secretly recruiting the best students to become dragon disciples. Or the whole thing could be misdirection and lies :coolcthul |

| Darakhoranon07-07-07, 02:40 PM | And how do YOU explain dragonborn in Eberron, gensuke626? Unless, of course, they are the "special agents" of Bahamut... Yeah, cutting apart kobolds and the like should be safe - more or less... @Wymarc: Yeah. Alright. But don´t forget his warforged assistant who is actually a changeling disguised as a shifter, but in truth an agent of the LoD (but really a deep-cover agent of the chamber)! |

| gensuke62607-08-07, 04:26 PM | Just A couple of throwaways Cruel and Unusual Geography Recent Runes Indefinite Studies Do I detect a Hint of Pratchett? Anyway... @Darakhoranon- The simple answer is that I don't. Dragonborn may not even exist in Eberron. I may use them as a tool or storytelling device, but I figure since the players will never discover why they exist or how they came to exist, it's sort of a moot point. |

| OctaviusIII08-01-07, 12:30 AM | Our mission at Morgrave is more than just the education of our students. We realize that the mind is only one part of a much larger whole, so we take pains to reduce class sizes and encourage students to go beyond the classroom and into their world. Religious studies professor Godric of Reuel said, "One of the most unique aspects of Morgrave is its study abroad program. Our arcane studies students have the option to take a semester in Arcanix or Korth, while archeology students study at our campus in Stormreach, political science students take semesters in Wroat, and so on." Morgrave's active and diverse faculty draws professors from across Eberron. They are well-respected in their fields, regularly publishing papers on their subject. Although some may find it odd to see half-giants and gnomes taught biology by elves and astronomy by orcs, we find Morgrave's diversity to be its greatest asset. | ZeroSD10-15-07, 09:48 PM | I like the idea of this clas... but I would probably call it something more like - Advanced Philosophy of the Draconic Prophecy. It could be one of the Masters courses for a student in their last year of becoming a wizard or sorcerer. From DoE I get the idea that non-Dragons/Elves/Rakshasa really know jack about the prophecy other than it exists, though. Argonnessen studies might be there, though. There's some info on the dragons, some on the tribes that worship them off the coast... Xen'drik I would think is a huge rapidly growing topic in recent years, with lots of new information pouring in. Ruins of Xen'drik, giants of Xen'drik, geography of Xen'drik. Right now that's where all the grants are going! |
| ChaoticGood11-02-07, 01:29 AM | The campaign I currently run actually began with the PCs all enrolled in the Morgrave University Pickman School of Adventuring program. I started them at the end of their college life, about to enroll in their final class: ADV 401 Xen'drik Expedition Field Course That was the capstone course, of course. Others would include: ADV 101 Teambuilding - Party Roles ADV 102 Teambuilding - Racial Diversity ADV 103 Equipment Selection and Care ADV 201 Teambuilding - Role Diversification* ADV 202 Transportation ADV 203 Adv. Equipment Care ADV 301 Teambuilding - Prestigious Party Roles ADV 302 Patrons and Adventure Finance ADV 303 Magical Equipment Selection and Care PE 110 Basic Combat Training PE 210 Basic Team Combat PE 310 Advanced Team Combat The major also requires an additional 18 credits in classes related to your Adventuring discipline (Combat, Arcanistry, Divinity or Scouting, as determined in ADV 101). Most of the courses suggested by Haulbrands would meet this requirement. My PCs took ADV 215 Ancient Languages of Xen'drik, for one. * Why and how to multi-class, in case you were wondering. |
| OmnipotentSeal11-02-07, 02:30 AM | Arcane Studies ARCA 460: The Reanimation of Dead Tissue ARCA 471: Ethics of Reanimation Shouldn't ARCA 471 come before 460? I'd imagine understanding the theory and ethical implications of reanimating dead tissue would aid a student in understanding the immense magic he is wielding, before he uses on actual dead bodies to make his own flesh golem for his senior thesis. Also shouldn't it be cross-listed under a PHIL number like 4xx-something? How about these courses.... | minoritarian12-05-07, 04:34 PM | I'd have thought that the Universities in Eberron would more akin to places like Oxbridge in the 18th century. They wouldn't be taking in the reams of people that now attend Uni. (or college) and as such don't have the immense number of courses available at modern institutions. I'd break the faculties and departments down something like this: Faculty of Arcana & Theology: Department of Theology Department of Artifice (linked with House Cannith and containing the School of Alchemical Studies) Department of Arcane Studies (giving BA for theoretical arcanists and BTh (Bachelor of Thaumaturgy for practical [caster level] arcanists) Faculty of Arts Department of Philosophy Department of History (containing School of Archaeology) Department of Anthropology (where Anthro would be replaced with a word not so anthrocentric, ho ho) Faculty of Science Department of Mathematics Department of Natural Philosophy -School of Biological Sciences (placements with House Jorasco or Vadalis dependent upon module choices) -School of Physical Sciences (chemistry and physics) Department of Architecture and Engineering (the architects would have to be trained in engineering as well hence the science faculty as opposed to art) Faculty of Law Department of Law (linked with House Sivis) These are just thrown together on a whim though with no real knowledge of the structure of old universities. It's just that I don't see one of the best Universities in Khorvaire offering Sport Science. There's likely smaller colleges, similar to the old Polytechnics, that do that. Or individual tutors. |
| OctaviusIII12-06-07, 04:17 AM | These are just thrown together on a whim though with no real knowledge of the structure of old universities. It's just that I don't see one of the best Universities in Khorvaire offering Sport Science. There's likely smaller colleges, similar to the old Polytechnics, that do that. Or individual tutors. I agree, actually, and the old universities were structured into two departments, Philosophy and Theology. Under Theology was all the studies regarding religion, the supernatural. Philosophy was the study of all things of the physical realm, the natural. As the supernatural is significantly more opaque than Philosophy, Philosophy tended to have more diversity of courses, which would have been broken up into the humanities and the sciences. At least, that's what I remember from my University 101 class. |
