| JulesCARV07-16-07, 03:53 AM | Here's the basic character sketch -Born an elf in Aundair. Unsure of name so far. -I'm not sure whether she's (gender provisional) an afflicted or natural lycanthrope. Also uncertain what type of lycanthrope -- wererat perhaps? Alignment probably neutral evil. -The Silver Flame's purge came when she was young. Either a natural or having a good Control Shape skill, and wielding some magic, she hid her lycanthropy, and joined the Silver Flame in the purge. -She became one of the most virulent, fanatical advocates of the purge in public, inciting pogroms against shifters, and directing the Silver Flame's templars against her personal enemies (both lycanthropes and not, fabricating evidence that they were lycanthropes if they weren't), while magically hiding her own lycanthropic nature. -Through her association with the clergy of the Silver Flame, she learned to parasitically wield divine magic, becoming an ur-priestess. Her ability to wield such magic useful in bolstering her credibility as a pious devotée of the Silver Flame, as well as giving her more power. (Base class: uncertain. Bard, perhaps?) -Uncertain about her role in the Last War. I think she didn't serve, at first, by using contacts to insinuate that her loyalties to Aundair were shaky, and might have had Thranish loyalties (while she, personally, made a show of attempting to join up), and was middle aged by the end of the first decade or two of the war at any rate, and thus beyond prime military age. She might have played a "rear echelon" role healing and crafting items or the like. -Today, continues to act as a puritan priest of the Silver Flame. Is late middle-aged or in early old age, and, like many real puritan Flamers, is skeptical of Jaela's pontiffship. Any help filling in the holes here? |

| Syltorian07-16-07, 07:01 PM | Phidias, could you please spoiler-mark that one? Some people may not have read the book yet. :) Thanks. Jules, that is an interesting character. Is this an NPC or a PC? There are some things, such as political contacts, which might be more difficult to include if she is a PC. I can't see too many holes, but one situation I would address is her reaction to the Thranish capture and occupation of Thaliost. With her mixed loyalties, she would almost have to have a position on that city, and being old enough to have lived through that period, she might have played some part in the events of, I believe, 928/9 YK. |
| JulesCARV07-16-07, 07:30 PM | Thanks for the tip, Phideas. This is an NPC, by the way. I don't think she really has mixed loyalties vis-à-vis Thrane and Aundair at all. Her only real loyalty is to herself, but she might have created doubt about her loyalty to Aundair as a way of dodging service in early parts of the last war (she personally claimed to be loyal to Aundair, but used third parties to spread doubt). I'm guessing she'd claim to be opposed to the Thranish occupation of Thaliost, although in reality she doesn't care much either way. |
